To my pleasant surprise, I found a decent selection of craft beers in the refrigerated section. This included regional craft labels like Notch, Lawsons, Zero Gravity, Trillium and Shillings. Being able to find 2 different brands of Czech-style Cerne Pivo is something I would attribute to a dedicated beer hall or specialty store, much less a convenience store.

For $9 a sandwich I found them both very bland and lacking any sort of condiment / sauce that both were suppose to have. The sandwiches were feeling and weren't bad, it's just not something I would ever crave again. Also, the store is tight.. and during covid times I try to tuck myself away from people. However, one of the men employees at the meat counter was rude as could be. Everywhere I stood, to literally be out of his way- he kept barking at me to "MOVE". No please, no manners. The whole thing just seemed ridiculous honestly.

Where Towne Market stands out is in its selection of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Apparently, back in the day when B&J was starting, Towne Market was one of the very first places they delivered to. They've always had as good or better of a selection than even a grocery store. In the past, they've also been the first to get new flavors (or so it seemed to me) but I'm not sure if this is still the case. Also has a fair selection of small bottles (500ml, 375ml and nips) of liquor behind the counter, and a small selection of wines.

Had hoped to get a nice warm cup of coffee and a coffee roll. Walked in and discovered the ownership from the late 90s had changed. Though, the coffee brand was the same, as well as the price - $1.00 for a medium. Unfortunately, there were no coffee rolls and the coffee tasted bitter. I don't think I'll be back. There is a small parking lot out back and the street parking is limited spacing.

As to be expected in a store like this some of the stuff is crap but other stuff is pretty nice. Nothing really nice but sometimes pretty nice is nice enough. Inside is crowded and chaotic. Always seems a lot of people in here and it's difficult to move around. Takes a bit of patience but it's not too bad. It tends to over flow with stuff so they put some of it out in front on the sidewalk. Gives it a pleasantly tacky look. One of the things they really advertise are the 25 cent hot dogs. I would never get the courage to actually try one and I suspect they aren't exactly the highest quality but just seeing the price is kind of cool. The prices inside on most of the stuff inside is dirt cheap. I got some six buck T-shirts that didn't even shrink five sizes when I washed them. This place is exactly what it seems. It is an anachronism that manages to survive in a rather expensive and ritzy town like Newburyport just be being itself. The staff have always been pleasant and helpful even in middle of all the crazy activity that is going on. It's a cheap place that has lots of cheap but decent stuff. All kinds of weird and quirky things and always messy. Just the type of place that I enjoy
