Review #135 - 2017…read more While we were on our way to grab our regular drinks at Chalogy, we happened upon this street fest. I'm not sure if it's only available for summer, but I don't recall seeing them here before. It's suppose to be here every 1st Wednesday of each month so we'll definitely make our way back here again next month. It's from 5:30 - 8:30 PM so be sure to stop by! Unfortunately, by the time we showed up, it was already 8 PM so we only caught the tail end of the event so everyone was already getting ready to pack up & leave. They had live music, which I saw a few people dancing to up front. Decided to take a snapshot of the party :) We walked by the KIND bars stand and the nice lady gave us two free samples. The full size bars, not just a cut up bite. We also walked by Capital One and got a free goodie bag with a pair of sunglasses, a USB powered fan (fits my iPhone lightning USB perfectly, not that I need anything to drain my battery anymore quickly) and a coupon for a free cup of Peet's coffee. Free coffee is always good! There were a few food trucks and some other knick knack stands that I walked passed. Wish I'd just kept walking when the Andersen Windows guy said "hi" to me. I ended up wasting about five minutes because I was trying to not be rude. If you see him, run! Hopefully, they will have more than just a dozen different stands when we come back next month :)

Downtown Walnut Creek is like that bff in your life that you want to spend every day with. It's a…read moreplace to go shopping, grab a bite to eat, get some exercise, and hang out at the park with your other bff, Mr. Sunshine. Now, to add to that list, we have First Wednesday in downtown Walnut Creek from 5-8 pm. Do you like trying a variety of new food (trucks) and meeting new people? How about enjoying live music and dancing with that cute guy sitting next to you? (In my case, that "cute guy" was my awesome husband who asked me to dance - even though it was mostly little kids out in front at the moment). This event is family friendly, but they have adult beverages as well. (Designate a driver if you plan to have a few!) Your furry bff is welcome to come along also so don't forget your leash. Several great vendors and tables were set up on Cypress Street between N. Main and Locust. We had fun visiting all of them! The surrounding parking garages are all going to be free on Wednesday nights! There are two Locust Street garages that are convenient to the action. This party lasts from 5-8, but your fun doesn't have to end then. There are lots of other great places to hang out or get some dessert while youre downtown. What a fun way to mark the mid-week!

I didn't even know this Parade was going on until my Husband and I drove into Walnut Creek and…read morediscovered all of the roads blocked off and that the Parade was actually right down the Road we wanted to get into to go for Dinner. It worked out well for us though as we got really lucky and still managed to find parking and after just a 5 minute walk to the restaurant we got prime seating to watch as the Parade went past. Some of the floats were interesting, others not so much. The young acrobatic girls doing all kinds of back flips was impressive to watch and there were loads of Cheer-leading squads, not many of them seemed all that enthusiastic though. There were a couple of floats I was completely baffled by not sure what the purpose of them being in the Parade was 1 - Dominos Pizza. Driving down in a Dominos sticker'd car and waving a flag. I can only guess it was try and drum up business but all it reminded me of was how nasty their Pizza's are. 2 - The Spa with the ladies dressed up in various mis-matched outfits on the back of a pickup. All they did was stand / sit there while they played Micheal Jackson's ''Thriller''. I expected them to break out into dance but it never happened. That being said some of it was fun to watch while we enjoyed our alfresco Dining experience. Not something I would go out of my to see though.

Walt from Walt's Adventures adventuring at the Menagerie Hill Ranch in Vacaville, California…read more Life can be interpreted as more fulfilling when filled with adventures. It is wise to step outside your environment and, in the case of this current venture, go visit an Alpaca farm. The Menagerie Hill ranch has beautiful animals. The host was awesome and knowledgeable. We increased our knowledge of the animals and of the farm but also got to feed them. We also had the opportunities to get close and personal with them for pictures. They were all friendly and fluffy. I recommend this unique experience for all because if you do not just break your usual pattern to stop and smell the roses or to pet and feed an Alpaca, life will pass by before you know it. Put your life on pause just for a few hours and go see the Alpacas. They would like to share peace with you. You can find them at the Menagerie Hill Ranch

We stayed in touch over the next several weeks before settling on an August date. We braved the high temps and winding roads to arrive at the ranch. It's a beautiful space on a hillside and you can see the herd and their guardian llama as you pull into the parking lot. We learned a lot about the alpaca life cycle, fed the boys, and my daughter got to hold and carry a cria. We bought two cute alpaca shaped soaps. I didn't experience any of the negativity others have complained about. It is a working ranch so it's not a petting zoo or a tourist attraction. Go with the flow and you'll have a great experience.

Were also able to check out the Chill Zone (thanks to event tickets won via Yelp). Also, you can find parking on the street. We came here to see Alantiss Morsiette Jagged Little Pill Musical. You can immediately go in the building and ther is a nice lady welcoming you and directing you to go upstairs or use the elevator for the show. There are bathrooms on the first floor and a wonderful art gallery as well. Going up the stairs in a spiral and on the second floor there were 2 entrances. Make sure to ask where your seat is for the right door to go in. There is plenty of seating with a table outside the theater. While in the theater it was small, but intimate as well. There wasn't a bad seat in the theater. There are no flat seating on the floor just goes up so all can see the stage. You can see and hear the actors clearly. There was a 15 min intercession and you can use bathroom on 1st and 2nd floor. They had drinks soda, beer and cocktails, but not too much of a menu. They also had some candy as well. It wasnt much of a selection. Everything went well and best part you could meet the actors after the show as they were outside with any meet and greet or questions. Would come back again and see a musical. It's not big like broadway audience seating but definitely some great shoes here.

The people working in the box office are amazing. Recently, I had a ticket for Jagged Little Pill, but unfortunately something came up and I could no longer attend on that day. Thinking I had nothing to loose, I visited the box office in person and explained my situation. They were so kind and understanding and exchanged my ticket for a different day. The people working at the snack cart are always polite and remain calm and professional when things get hectic. Unfortunately, the staff working the doors always ruin in the perfect experience for me. I once tried to open the theater door, not realizing it was too early. The woman at the door literally yelled at me that it wasn't open. Maybe it's because I'm a woman coming by myself and a little younger than the usual crowd, but not once have I been offered a program. I'll walk in with the crowd and everyone else is offered a program, but me. I see the women happily offering all the men and couples a program but they just glare at me, and I have to make a point of asking for one. This is not a one off situation. I'm in the theater now, ready to watch The Glass Menagerie, and it just happened again. Please speak to these people. Maybe have those working at the box office, or snack cart explain to them how to treat all patrons with respect and courtesy. One more thing. Please consider adding a message when people purchase tickets to refrain from wearing perfume or cologne when they attend a production. Maybe also post signs when people walk in? Many of us are sensitive to strong scents. I've had to change seats a number of times due to someone around me wearing too much perfume or cologne. Thank you.
