    Signature Pizza Small
    Nolan H.

Can tell this is a small family owned business which I really respected. So I am being a little nice here. I ordered the Sweet Potato Fries & Small Signature Pizza. When ordering the Sweet Potato Fried I was trying to get a gauge of the quantity you'd get. I am use to really portions at mom & pop restaurants for fries or sides. I was extremely disappointed. The bag was no more than half filled & it is just in a paper bag in an open paper bag. So there is virtually no retaining heat so fries are not hot or crispy. For $6 you'd expect more fries by at least 50%. The pizza though was really good & flavorful. I regret not getting the larger size & skipping the fries. I liked that the pizza had a Greek flare to it & was not greasy at all. I think I could like the place if I tried the pizza alone. However, I would be wary of the salads being small if the portion size of the fries are any indicator on meal portion sizes.

Love it here! The food is homemade and so good! They have so many choices of Mediterranean food here! The appetizers are so good! My favorite is the spanakopita while my family loves the hummus. The staff is efficient, hard working and friendly. We also ordered a pizza to split, which was AMAZING! Save room for their desserts! I like the baklava! My spouse likes the rice pudding. All the food here is homemade and DELICIOUS! You have to get this pizza! It has converted me from my usual pepperoni and mushroom!

It's dated, but in a very intentional, old-school way. The pizza itself is a mixed bag--in a mostly good way. The crust is excellent for this style and easily the standout part of the pie. The sauce, though, is pretty one-dimensional. It works, but it could use more herbs and spices to really elevate it from ok to good. One thing that stood out less positively: the heavy advertising around awards they won nearly 20 years ago. At this point, it feels outdated and gives the impression that the restaurant hasn't evolved since then. The pizza is still solid, but it would be nice to see that same confidence backed up by more recent improvements

It could have been better…read more I had been to Café Arnone a few years ago when we first moved to Akron and remembered it fondly, so I suggested it when meeting a friend for coffee last week. When I arrived around 1:00 pm, the café was quiet. There was no one at the counter, so I walked around to find someone and ask where to sit since the space has more of a café feel on one end and a wine-bar feel on the other. I was told to order at the counter and sit anywhere. I sat in the front area to wait for my friend. Once she arrived, we went up to order. I asked about a menu and was pointed to a sign on the counter. Since it was my first visit in a while, I asked the employee what she recommended, and she flipped the sign to a breakfast sandwich called The Sal. I ordered that. I then had to ask about beverages, as none were mentioned. I only wanted water and was directed to a carafe on the counter to serve myself. Our food came out within a few minutes. The presentation was a little disappointing. I chose the vegetable side, which turned out to be two carrot sticks and two celery sticks lying in a small puddle of water. The sandwich looked good, but when I took my first bite, it was overwhelmingly salty. I understand bacon is salty, but this tasted like an excessive amount of salt had been added. After a second bite, I brought it back to the register and asked if it could be replaced, which they did. My disappointment wasn't so much in the mistake, but in the lack of acknowledgment--there was no apology and no follow-up to ask if the replacement was better. The restaurant wasn't busy, and while I'm sure they have many regulars, the lack of greeting when I walked in and the lack of follow-up stood out to me. I did appreciate the wall of ancestors--it was a nice touch--but overall the service felt disengaged. Maybe it was an off day, or perhaps inexperience from a young staff. I may try again in the future, but this visit fell short of expectations.

Still no one there. After a few minutes, someone came out. I ordered the pepperoni pizza. It came in square piece. The dough was thick. I can't say it was anything special, but it tasted OK. Sauce, cheese and dough seemed fresh. I thought it was expensive for the smaller size of it. I'll have to try their other offerings next time I'm around.

Both times we ordered Vinny's margherita…read morepizza which was good though incredibly overpriced for the size, and the first visit we also ordered the fig pizza. It was saturated in honey and had a slight stinky cheese type undertone, but we didn't complain and ate a couple slices. I'm expecting so I didn't try a beer, but both times I had a lukewarm beverage from their small selection. My husband did get beer from the wall, a few each time, and noted they were mostly foam despite a careful pour. Again the price does not fit the quantity. The second visit we ordered the white pizza. NOWHERE on the menu does it state that it is heavily doused with lemon, including several lemon seeds. My husband is sensitive to lemon. The cheese was also clumped and undercooked. We brought this to the attention of the staff and a very rude man literally said "what do you want to do about it?" We didn't get past a bite each, the pizza was 22 dollars, and they gave us 10 off. For real? Lemon is not on the menu description. And seeds definitely don't belong on pizza. I'm glad my husband brought it up because if it had been me, I'd have most certainly made a bigger fuss. I don't usually leave poor reviews but felt compelled after this visit. We won't return and I'm sure they won't care one bit. So many better pizza and beer options in the area. I will also mention briefly that for the amount of staff they have standing around, you'd think the place would be cleaner. Eww.

I was not able to pour myself a beer without being engaged in a long conversation about the beers available, what styles I enjoy, etc., every time I went to the taps. Same for being asked every ~4-5 minutes at our table if we were doing okay--even before we'd gotten drinks or received our food. We've always enjoyed the food, and this visit was no exception. My daughter enjoyed her pizza and mozzarella sticks very much. My calzone was also terrific. On every previous visit, the restaurant was crowded and lively with something of a sports-bar vibe. We'd even had to wait for a table on occasion. This time, it was mostly empty and quiet, save for the sports on the TVs. We were told we could sit wherever we liked. I can't help but wonder if the change in atmosphere is related to the overbearing staff stalking the room. Perhaps they're under new management?

I placed my order through the Domino's app and saw it would take a while for delivery, so I decided to pick it up myself. The app gave me real-time updates on my pizza's progress--from prep to bake to ready-for-pickup--which I thought was pretty cool. When I arrived at the location on 2970 West Market St., I was genuinely impressed. The store was clean, the temperature was comfortable, and even though they were clearly busy, everything was well-organized and running smoothly. Apparently, Joshua had started my pizza before finishing his shift, but Will stepped right in to finish it with kindness and professionalism. He was super courteous and made sure everything was just right. I even grabbed a few extra packets of crushed red pepper (a must-have with anchovies in my book--my version of salt and pepper!). The thin crust was perfectly crisp, the toppings were spot-on, and that craving? Fully satisfied.
