The restaurant is clean, has plenty of seating, and the service was quick and friendly. We tried a variety of dishes and everything was super flavorful and satisfying. The Kazan Kebab and Osh Plov were our favorites, I highly recommend both! We're in Akron for a visit and decided to try this small local Uzbekistan restaurant, it was our first time having Uzbek food, and it was such a great experience! We gave this place multiple tries. I really wanted to be blown away by it based on the amazing reviews but each visit was just so unexpectedly bad. BF and I came here on a weekend and it seemed fine and open. Employee was surprised we came in but said nothing in the way of greeting or announcements. He let us sit for 15+ minutes as we pored over the menu. He finally asked us what we would like and said they were out of each individual item we asked...THEN dropped a bomb and revealed that there was a health inspection and that they weren't really serving food that day. What a waste of coming here at that day! He could have announced this when we walked in! And having regular monthly health inspections where they just do not cook that day is a very strange way to do business. This is highly unprofessional. We had a show that night and rushed into dinner plan B. My BF insisted we give this place another try to actually sample their food (which I was legit excited about) and our second time was also unexpectedly flat. BF ordered 3 appetizers; one of which was called Lady on top or something...and it was surprisingly flavorful and good for being vegetarian. The salad and bread dishes were unmemorable and kind of pricey for the portions. I really really really wanted what they were featuring which were the lamb kabobs or chicken kabobs or beef kabobs or really any grilled meat. There was one other table of people eating at the time yet they were out out out of all the main dishes. I then tried to order their dumplings which they were also out of. For Christ's sake, I ended up picking my 4th choice which was just some hamburger patty smash burger thing with a pile of raw, unseasoned onions. High price, didn't include a carb with it and meat was only okay. Ordered this yogurt Aryan drink that was warm, salty and weird; would not not recommend or at least order it cold. I just don't want to come here hungry again and risk wasting so much time and appetite to just mediocre food. They only have 1 person working or something because with just 2 tables, we waited 35+ min for our appetizers. 20+ min for just the drink. Nah...I'm good. read more

As far as I know this is the only place in the area to get central Asian food I.e. Uzbekistan. It is a little pricey and they oftentimes seem to be out of items but overall it is very good and you'd be hard pressed to find a more unique offering around. My girlfriend got Aryan, which is a non sweet yogurt drink, which was room temperature. We saw some in the refrigerator so we asked if it was supposed to be that warm and were told no. The waitress then offered us free strawberry juice they make which we were glad we took her up on as it was very tasty. I would definitely go back as I love exploring food I have yet to try and this place has a lot of that. PS - The first time we went was on a Sunday and we were told that it's inspection day. They then told us they were out of most things. When we ordered some of the other options they went to the kitchen and came back saying they are actually out of all food lol. So we left and came back another time. Apparently they do an all day inspection every 2 months on a Sunday so make sure you don't come on such a day! read more

The food at Caravan is wonderful! Each meal is prepared fresh and the taste of the food is exquisite. If you are in town you will want to give them a try. You might have to wait for the food, as it is being freshly prepared for you, but it is so worth the wait. It is a dining experience you will not forget.
