I did a tasting for the food a few months before the wedding and was extremely impressed, but of course one never knows if that delicious-ness can translate to 100+ people ;) But it absolutely did. Continental Caterers provided brunch after our morning wedding minimony, and they absolutely knocked it out of the park! Our venue required us to choose from their short curated list of caterers, and I reached out to three of them. Continental Caterers was the only one to respond promptly and consistently, ask what types of foods we were envisioning, and then send a proposal that actually matched what we stated we wanted. Just from a communication standpoint alone, I knew that they were the ones we wanted to hire. Brittney was our contact, and from beginning to end, she was an absolute dream to work with. We worked with Darcie from Continental Caterers for our September 2025 wedding. The Pros: I want to start off by giving credit where it's due. Things ran really smoothly on the day of, despite a last minute location change within the venue due to unexpected rain. We appreciated that we were able to bring in our own cake and boba and they helped us set this up at no additional cost. In terms of the food quality, the appetizers we picked out all tasted pretty good, and the presentation was also great! They made sure to set aside some of everything separately for us since we came in later after photos. The Cons: After we signed the contract on February 13, Darcie told us that she would be in touch soon to start the planning process. At the end of April, we still had not gotten an initial reach-out, so I emailed her again to ask a couple questions about planning. She asked for some additional information to help answer the questions, which I replied to on April 29. I sent a followup email on May 6 asking for an update and then a more strongly worded email on May 14 asking for better communication when I didn't hear back over two weeks later. During the inquiry process, Darcie was extremely responsive over email, which was one of the reasons we chose to move forward, and it was incredibly discouraging to see this change after we were already locked in. Less than two months before the wedding date, I reached out again asking if there were any more action items needed from us. We were then asked if we needed linens for the tables - this in itself was somewhat concerning given that this caterer is a preferred vendor for our venue, so they should know that linens are required for almost all tables there (in fact, when I forwarded this question to our venue's event manager, she literally told us "Continental knows what tables require linen so they'll be able to guide you on that!"). The part that was most frustrating to me was that before signing the contract, I expressed concerns to Darcie about whether the proposal she sent us was comprehensive because I wanted to avoid having unexpected add-ons later. This was her reply: "There is nothing that I can see that would need to be added at this point except if you decided to get dessert from us (I have not added that as it's just a quote). If we did make any additions at this point, this would be entirely your choice and we would absolutely discuss cost beforehand!". When I expressed our concerns that this previous reassurance felt highly misleading, Darcie told us that her original statement was still true because linens for these tables are considered optional add-ons to their services and this addition is completely our choice. It felt like she completely missed the point that this is exactly what we were hoping to get guidance on when we first asked about what kind of add-ons might come up later on top of the existing proposal. As a vendor that has experience in the industry and also with our venue's requirements, it was our expectation that they would more proactively help us think through what we would need on the catering side of things. Wedding planning can be pretty stressful in itself, but working with Continental Caterers felt like it added a lot more unnecessary anxiety and frustration due to the inconsistent and confusing communication. Despite the wedding day itself going quite well, I would be hesitant to use this caterer again or recommend it to others. read more

I just used continental caterers for my wedding in June, and I wish I could give them 5 stars. It has been a pleasure working with Mike, and I would give him more than 5 stars if I can. Mike is very responsive and helpful, and even offered all kinds of advices and tips for the wedding. He always responded my emails so quickly that I wonder if he has any break after he gets off work. He also made my special request of Sangria possible and they were very tasty. On the day of the wedding, he made sure that our food came first and saved boba drinks for us (bride and groom). They were also able to accommodate my vegan guests wonderfully. However, on the day of the wedding, they swapped the sides for the entree. For the chicken entree, it was supposed to be paired with potato gratin. For the fish entree, it was supposed to be paired with orzo pilaf. We purposefully chose that way because the elder people like to order fish, and would prefer something light and refreshing, such as orzo pilaf, to go with it. Somehow, on the day of the wedding, they swapped the sides. I have some elder guests complaining the potato gratin was too salty for them. I actually thought the entree tasted slightly on the salty end. But, I also have many guests complimented their food, and they really loved their salad. Other than that, they did a wonderful service. We had worked with Mike from Continental to provide labor, some rentals, and service at our wedding. We got married at a venue that required a main caterer off of their preferred vendor list, however, we wanted Indian food so we had to hire two separate caterers - Jalsa for the food and Continental for the set up/break down and service. As such, this review reflects no commentary on food preparation as we did not use them in this capacity. Working with Mike was a DREAM. He was so fun and amazing to talk to and extremely patient. We wanted to supplement our apps with a cheese tasting and wine tasting table. He worked with us to select three cheeses and presented them beautifully at the event. This added element brought our winery wedding to life as guests were able to sample wine and cheese during the cocktail hour. While we were not present for set up/ break down, as far as I could tell, all went well with the help of both Mike and my planner. I didn't notice a single item out of place and the décor looked exactly as I had envisioned. Furthermore, since he had worked in tandem with Jalsa before, he knew exactly what items they wouldn't bring and was able to make sure that he had all needed inventory on site for a smooth operation. What blew me away about Mike was his attention to us, the couple. After our ceremony, he was magically waiting for us at the exit with one of each appetizer and our welcome drinks. He waited with us while we had a chance to taste our apps (and get some much needed food in our belly) and breathe for a minute before meeting our guests at the cocktail hour. At the cocktail hour, Mike made a point to find me with all three cheeses from the tasting to make sure I got a chance to try them after all the back and forth on cheese selection! At dinner, he led us to our table through a sea of guests to ensure we got our food and were seated without being derailed. He even knew exactly how to place my dress so it presented beautifully while I was seated. I cannot give enough praises for this magical Mike! He not only orchestrated our day beautifully but was somehow always present when we could use a hand (and made sure we did not have an empty glass at any point!). If I could give Continental 6 stars, I would. We are so glad we selected them (despite never having met them until the wedding day) on our planner's recommendation (the fabulous Denise of Denise Lillie Engagements). Due to COVID and schedules we weren't able to do a true tasting of the menu, but we went with the recommendations of Brittney, our main contact while planning everything. The food was delicious! Our main point of contact on the day was also great (I think her name was Lori...sorry! The day was a blur!). She had celebratory drinks ready for us right after the ceremony. We were preoccupied with pictures during most of the cocktail hour, but she made sure to set aside some appetizers for us. She also made sure we actually ate our dinner! They were very open and straightforward with their estimate. Their online portal is also easy to use. They were also very open and communicative while discussing food allergies. We're so glad we chose Continental to cater our wedding. We worked with Hristo and the manager for our event was Cynthia. We attended two tastings (one regular and one vegetarian) in order to choose our menu. Hristo helped us to finalize the menu, figure out the floorplan, and coordinate with the rental company. His experience with our venue (Gamble Garden in Palo Alto) was extremely helpful. Before the wedding, they let us bring items to their warehouse to load on the delivery truck (drinks, favors, games, decorations). This saved us a lot of time and hassle on the wedding day. The day before the wedding, Continental met the rental company at the venue to coordinate the load-in and set up the outdoor lights and heaters. On the day of the wedding, they arrived at the venue on time and worked very efficiently. Everything was set up on time and looked great. During the event, the serving staff was very professional and friendly. I really appreciated that they set aside appetizers for us to enjoy once we were done taking photos - we were starving! During dinner, the serving staff was very attentive and made sure we had whatever we needed. All of the food was delicious and the guests raved about it. There was more than enough food, and the staff packed up the leftovers for us to take home. I appreciated that Continental was upfront about their pricing, their contract was clear, and they don't charge extra fees like cake cutting or corkage. I felt compelled to write a review about Continental Caterers, even though they have not actually catered an event for me.....yet. I had hired the to cater my Dad's 101st birthday party in September, after not being able to really celebrate his 100th last year due to Covid. I had give them a 50% deposit and the Delta variant reared it's ugly head. The family decision was to cancel the party once again. I reached out to my contact Brittney, knowing that with their cancellation policy as is, they could rightfully keep my deposit. She spoke with the owners of the company and they kindly and generously offered to work with me, due to my Dad's age and the ever changing Covid climate. I am so impressed with their responsiveness, customer service and willingness to be flexible, that I can only imagine how amazing their food and event oversight would have been. In every way that you would hope a caterer would help make your event a success, Paul made sure they went a step further. I would give more than 5 stars to this rating if I could. First, of course, a good caterer must make excellent food. They worked with us to create the perfect menu, making personal adjustments to several menu items to reflect our tastes. All the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Our guests *still* comment to us (unsolicited!) about how amazing the food was at our wedding! Plus, working with Paul was an absolute pleasure from the first interaction through the event. He and the staff knew our venue very well and were able to make smart suggestions about layout for the tables and bar. He also helped us place the order for the china and linens, and his familiarity with the venue, experience with weddings of our size and excellent taste ensured that everything was done just right. Tasks that could easily have been a big headache to sort through were made wonderful by Paul. On the day of our wedding, it rained. No matter. Paul was way ahead of me and moved the ceremony and dining set up to accommodate the change in weather, even lighting a fire in the fireplace to make sure the space felt great for guests. In advance of the wedding, we were worried that we might not have time to enjoy the delicious passed hors d'oeuvres because we'd be off taking pictures and signing our ketubah. We had no need to worry. When my husband and I snuck a few minutes alone after the ceremony, Paul brought us champagne and two of each of the hors d'oeuvres so we could be sure to enjoy them. What a delight! Our wedding day was truly beautiful, and Continental Caterers played a huge role in making that happen for us. I don't have enough good things to say about Continental Caterers! We hired them for our wedding at the Thomas Fogarty winery, and everything went off with a bang. The Continental and Fogarty staff work together frequently and all know each other, so they've gotten all the kinks worked out. My husband and I both work crazy hours and were planning the wedding in less that 5 months, so we needed a caterer who could make our lives simpler. Mike Reinig went above and beyond his duties in helping us plan a beautiful wedding that my husband and I actually enjoyed. We thought about hiring a wedding planner, but we're glad we didn't because Mike basically served as our wedding planner. He told us where to be and when and what to do. We didn't even have to think about it. And in what could have been a minor emergency, Mike even sewed up the train on my dress. Yes, the CATERER sewed up my dress! I also have Celiac disease, but they worked around my gluten allergy without a fuss. Pretty much the entire menu at our wedding was gluten-free...and none of our guests cared or even noticed! The food was yummy (and yes, I got to eat! Mike made sure of that). Paul, the chef, helped us create a delicious menu that appealed to all guests, including vegetarians. There were more than enough options to choose from, even in the gluten-free category. Usually wedding food is so-so, but their food was genuinely tasty! The best part of the whole experience is that my husband and I actually enjoyed our wedding without too much stress! It truly was the best day of our lives. Absolutely the BEST! I knew at the first phone call that I wanted to work with Wendy on my son's bar mitzvah. She is totally professional, unflappable, friendly, warm, knowledgable. She spent lots of time with me on the phone and meeting in person to talk about how we would like the luncheon to be. She gave us great suggestions and understood that we wanted to have a warm, delicious, but not over-the-top party. She answered every phone call, every email promptly and with exactly the info we needed. Wendy understood that we did not have an unlimited budget and helped us find ways to throw a gracious party and keep the costs reasonable. The room looked beautiful, the food was exceptional and the service provided by Wendy, her manager Hristo, and the whole staff at our event was excellent. Our guests absolutely raved about the scrumptious food (when does that ever happen at a bar mitzvah?!) and the flawless service! They even packed our car up with leftovers and had the synagogue's kitchen spotless when they left. Wendy and Continental Caterers made our party perfect! Mike at Continental Catering was the awesome at our wedding. From our very first meeting at a wedding fair at our venue, he was engaging, funny, and really put us at ease. We attended two of their monthly tastings and upon that were able to come up with a menu that suited our tastes and budget. Mike also worked seamlessly with the rental company insuring everything t was crossed and i was dotted. We also really appreciate his help in helping save on cost (i.e. renting one set of chairs and having them move them from the ceremony to the reception areas--which was done fairly inconspicuously) Overall, the food was tasty, we and our guests had an amazing time and we really have to hand it to Mike for being thoughtful and detailed and really making us feel that he was on our side to see us through what can be a very crazy day. read more

Continental Caterers were a dream catering company for our wedding in October 2021. We were blown away at our tasting with them and they did not disappoint on the wedding day! We received a lot of compliments from our guests about the quality of the food. This was impressive also to me because we were eating outside in 53 degree weather and the food was still quite hot when we were eating. The company as a whole is super professional, all of their wait staff was so kind and attentive. They were able to quickly and subtly deconstruct and reset tables that had gotten wet in the rain. I also want to compliment Brittany who is their coordinator. She is such a lovely human to work with - so thorough, professional, and kind. She really knows the company well and is very experienced. We hired Continental Caterer to cater our wedding reception at Gamble Garden in Palo Alto. We were thoroughly pleased with their service and guidance on our wedding day. The food was delicious and the presentation was elegantly matched to our setting in Gamble Garden. We worked with Hristo, who was very professional from the early planning through the entire event. Continental was the right size outfit for our 45-person wedding, and many guests praised the food. We evaluated two other catering services in addition to Continental. What I liked about Continental was they were very straight-forward in their approach from the start; they provided an evening for sampling the food (which they do once per month); they were responsive to my questions; and they were very reasonably priced - especially compared to the other vendors I checked out. One other vendor I got a quote from was asking nearly double what Continental quoted! This made me worried that Continental might have additional hidden costs, but these were totally unfounded concerns. Continental really delivered quality food and service for the price they quoted. During the sampling dinner, it was additionally beneficial to meet with the president Paul Alexander and the event specialist Wendy Kleckner. They do a good job of meeting with their customers, which is why they can provide such great service. We would recommend Continental to anyone planning a wedding or other large event. read more

We used Continental Caterers for our Holiday Party last year, so this is way over due! Paul and the Continental staff was such a pleasure to work with! They offered great ideas and themes to help make our Holiday Party more festive. They sent over the proposal quickly with all details addressed.We held the event at a private home and after our walkthrough we knew that they would make our event a successful one! Paul knew exactly what we had envisioned, how his staff was going to set up and how they would expedite our event. The staff is extremely friendly and professional. The food was even better than we had remembered, the presentation was fun. I would highly recommend Continental Caterers to anyone hosting a special occasion. Paul and his team recently catered our wedding at Kohl Mansion, and were such a joy to work with. For our wedding, my husband and I mainly wanted our guests to have fun - to us, that meant great food, great drinks, and great music. Continental not only delivered on the great food front (we continue to get comments and appreciative groans about the "amazing" food, from the hors d'oeuvres to the mains), but were also responsive, patient, and helpful every step of the way. They are true professionals, whose expertise and experience was valuable beyond the money that we paid them for the food and service on the day of the wedding. I also just want to mention the amazing staff that worked our actual wedding day. The event manager made sure we got to try the appetizers by bringing us a plate of them that they specifically set aside, and made us and our families feel taken care of the whole night. The bartenders and servers were also all so friendly - we have actually received several compliments about them as well, and I can't say I've ever felt serving staff was especially great or bad at a wedding before. All in all, we would recommend Paul and his team to anyone considering it, and know you will be sold as soon as you go to a tasting! read more
