I stopped into this shop during the summer months after picking Thing Two up from summer camp. I apologize in advance for my naivete, but prior to coming here, I had no idea this brand existed. When I stepped in the door, I was greeted promptly and asked upon arrival if I had frequented the store previously. Of course, the answer was "no". Therefore, I was given a crash course on the brand. To my surprise as an Austinite this is an ATX founded brand (who knew, well, I guess everyone except for me). Although founded in the ATX, this brand uses authentic Mexican Artisans and factories to bring these colorful handbags to life. After getting an introduction, I was offered a glass of champagne, which of course I didn't say no to. When walking around the store, consumers will see hand-stiched leather in vibrant patterns. Each handbag, satchel, crossbody, wallet, etc. has intricate beadwork and are of high quality craftsmanship and designed for durability. Aside from the bags, this store has smaller items to include key chains and notebooks. Each display in the store is artistic in a way that shows creativity and efficient brand merchandising. After about 40 minutes of browsing, drinking champagne and indulging in sweets, I elected to purchase a clutch which was a last season bag. Because of this, it was $90 less than what I would have paid the season prior. However, it should be noted, the store has current and last season bags and accessories. The staff working will advise consumers upon entering which tables and shelves have sale/prior season items. The service here was akin to the type of service I receive when shopping at Saks or Niemans but just a tinny step below, which makes sense as this store is more of an affordable luxury store as opposed to a high-end end luxury store. My favorite place to get Consuela purses and accessories and to take some fun, artsy photos. This store has all the newest collection pieces as well as some of the older pieces that are advertised. The other store is in Austin and that store offers you a cold drink and has great music and lots of disco balls. I love the Smithville store vibe, though. Beautiful store and merchandise. Quality product and lots of selection. My ONLY complaint would be the pregnant woman. She is rude, unfriendly, and completely put off by any customer. She just sits on that stool and makes faces. She never smiles or makes eye contact with the customers. She needs to go home. I'm hoping it's the pregnancy that is making her so completely disagreeable. Remember every customer interaction has an impact, and it's more important than ever for companies to meet the consumers expectations. read more
