But also because it's Turkish and serves genuine Turkish dishes - not just shoarma or "Turkish pizza" - which is a nice break from the typical Dutch set of restaurants. Also because the food is actually really, really tasty - from lamb dishes to salads to chicken stews, etc. - it's all really good. Aaaand because the prices are great! Aaaand because it's kind of a neighborhood place that no one from the outside finds, so it's small and friendly and cozy and the owners/servers are super nice - neighborly even! So, if you happen to stumble into the south side of Haarlem and need a warm Turkish dinner (anyone? anyone??), this is it. Shortly after sitting down and ordering, the waiter drops off a basket of bread with three different dipping sauces, one hot and spicy, a garlicky yoghurt and a Turkish style salsa and we try desperately not to overdo it on the bread before the really really good stuff arrives! I spy the waiter rushing back and forth with a frothy white drink that a bunch of other tables order and curiosity gets the better of me so I order one of those too, turns out to be a savoury yoghurt drink which is odd at first but actually really delicious! The mains we order arrive, lamb kofta sandwiched in fresh toasted Turkish bread, and beef kebab with frites and salad and they are both incredible. Now this where I go to town with the sauces they first brought to the table, as their lamb kofta sandwich whilst already absolutely delicious is made even more so with these sauces! And of course, there's always room for dessert which was made up of baklava and mint tea, both also delicious. Dinner here was simple but it was fresh and delicious and service was no fuss and efficient too! Definitely worth a stop in when you're after a quick tasty meal!

On my quest to Yelp the f#ck out of Hoofddorp, I found myself craving balls of fried mashed chickpeas (aka, falafels). I quickly googled "falafels in my mouth, Hoofddorp" and this place came up! Leuk! Unfortunately, my review kind of ends here because there isn't much to say! They have doners, showarmas, falafels... much like all the other 1,204,693 places in NL, but not much more. I ordered a large falafel broodje approximately equal to the number of cocktails I downed the night before for 5.50 euros. Not bad. The flavor? Not bad. Bored already with my review? That's exactly how I felt when I bit into this. This place is clean, the people are nice, they make the food in front of you, but if I find myself thinking about how Maoz tastes better, then it's pretty much the end of the road. It cost about 4 euro for a sandwich: we ate there three times. I definitely recommend the chicken over the beef. They give you way more meat. Sandwiches come with your choice of toppings and sauces. Open until 11 but delivery until 3am when everything else is closed! We had to let our hotel concierge order for us in Dutch but every meal was delicious! Don't skip this spot if you are in Zandaam!
