Banfield Vet said she was an Apple head with a deformity being fontanelle, which is a normal, common anatomical feature where the skull bones haven't fused. Stated she wasn't eligible for their wellness program due to her tiny size and her soft spot being too large. Although she was having no issues, Told us to change the blended dry food we had been feeding her, because there was no grain in it, and puppies needed grains. I showed them her papers from where I'd recently got her, regarding her first vaccination and deworming. I asked if she was ok as far as being checked for parasites or mites due to her head shaking. They would do the parasite test at her next visit. Therefore, I was advised to put her FreshPet puppy food with meats, pumpkin, cranberries, and carrots. After she started eating this, she threw it up and her blood sugar dropped. We took her back to Banfield and they directed us to go straight to this hospital with our new baby. They rushed her back putting a tube in her little neck with glucose. I was in tears, while after waiting hours, the blood panel showing she could possibly have a liver shaunt, to take her to Banfield, have a bile acids testing done there ( it was a little less inexpensive- of course, than for the hospital to do the testing - Ty for that) and it would tell more. Depending on her blood test, She would possibly need an ultrasound. Called and got her into Banfield the next morning with her being fasting for 4 hours for the test. We took her home with a different type of canned food, being prescribed. (The third switch of different foods). Also with a prescription for constipation. Took her into Banfield the next morning. The Vet there looked over the Vet Hospital reports and said she didn't think it was her liver, asking if she'd been tested for parasites. What? She is scheduled for that test her next visit, 17th of May. They took her back did the bile acids testing and the parasite testing. After over 2 hours of blood and parasite testing, sent her home with another prescription canned food they had fed her in between blood testing- (a different flavor/kind than her last prescribed food), this being the fourth time of suddenly changing her food. While waiting impatiently for the results...Yay, her bile acids testing was normal, therefore the Vet said there was no need for an ultrasound. But she was positive for Hook worms and round worms, sent her with 6 tubes of medicine for 6 nights and to start her that night. After giving her the medicine, she went downhill, she was pooping everywhere, her little body had been so terribly terrified snd was shocked by all the stress of this!! . The next morning we took her back in to Banfield due to stopped eating and her gums weren't as pink. They said her body temperature was 91 and was supposed to be at 99. While putting a warming hose on her, her body temperature went up to 94. I was in such tears asking if they could give her a minute w/o the warming tube and to recheck her temperature. After this it was staying at 94 but they told us that she was needing a blood transfusion and it could get into tons of cost. Our baby suffered from shock. I feel this Animal Emergency & Specialty Care Hospital and Banfield should had checked her for parasites before doing all the liver and bile blood testing, which was outrageous in cost! . We were not told to transition her food, and abruptly changing her diet, geez, 4 different times, do you guys think that her little body was shocked and in results the hospital and vet killed her. I will never ever go back to either place. Drs are all about $$$$!!
