Easily one of my favourite places to nerd out at. And DEFINITELY my favourite place to nerd out at…read morein the GTA. Legends has extremely competitive pricing (Games Workshop stuff usually 20% off!) and a very nice selection of board games, comic books, cards, minatures, and geeky merch (I definitely picked up a Rainbow Dash mug on my last visit here.) If they don't have something that you have your eye on, you can connect with them to see if they will order it for you (which they likely will, if they can!) Really flexible hours of operation, open late many nights of the week, and there are constantly events occuring here. They have a fairly large, well-lit, and clean gaming space in the back. Customer service here is quite friendly. I'd HIGHLY reccomend checking out Legends if you are in/around the Vaughan area to get your geek on :).

It's like Walmart lol you go in for one thing and leave with 10. There's a pretty good selection of board games, both popular and obscure. If they don't have what you're looking for they'll gladly order it for you and give you a call when it comes in. The guys who work there are all very nice and very knowledgeable. The first time I came, I was still fairly new to tabletop gaming so I wasn't sure what to get. I had my eyes set on Agricola but after talking to the associate I realized I wasn't ready for such a heavy euro game just yet. The associate asked us what we liked and then basically went through their entire collection with us, pointing out and explaining various games that he thought would appeal to us. You don't get customer service like that anymore! All the games are also much cheaper than you would find at Chapters or Mastermind Games. They've also got tons of other nerd stuff like comic books, figurines, and superhero paraphernalia. The store is located in the back of the plaza so it's difficult to find if you don't know where to look.

They have a children's area which has the material from their old Little Island location. I could imagine taking a nibling in there to go comics shopping and having a good time. Entry requires masking which, well, we're still in the middle of a pandemic so protecting the staff and yourselves is just a good idea. The books aren't cheap but they don't overcharge, so that's good; you need to just disabuse yourself of the brain poison that Amazon has infected everyone with.

Their selection is pretty solid, with lots of titles from smaller publishers and creators overseas already in store, so if you're in a rush for something you thought was obscure, the Beguiling might have you covered! Because they do have a wide selection, and possibly because they are handling a number of orders this season, i did experience a discrepancy between their website vs. in-store inventory. However, the have great online service. When I made an query they were super quick to respond, and they were also very helpful in making alternative suggestions to replace what they didnt have in stock. As for the pick up, they have staff stationed at a partitioned checkout window, so when you arrive you can walk up, give your name and pay for your order safely amd easily. Staff inside also have access to a microphone in case someone's having a hard time hearing. Overall, as they profess, the Beguiling does live up to its claim of premium window shopping. Whether comics and zines are your jam or if you need a zine/comic-related gift for someone else, consider visiting the Beguiling website or strolling up to their shopping window. If you can't visit in person, they also offer free delivery on orders of $80+.

This is a comic book shop in the old ways of Comic Book shops…read more Remember that scene from 13th Warrior where Antonio Benderas watches the viking ship set ablaze as the king is immolated upon the waves? The vikings turn to Antonio and say, "you will not see this again. It is the old ways." That's Red Nails II. The epic sequel to I know not what. If you're looking for a deep dank basement pit filled with comics, and overpriced books on the wall, then this is your place. It's everything you remembered and loved from the 1980s. Right down to the group of regulars and staff that eye you wearily when you walk in. They'll follow you around the store, and no matter how long you pause at something, they will say nothing. Conversations will stop when you enter, only to start up again when you leave. While I have no doubt that becoming an insider wouldn't be all that difficult, it's a question of whether you'd want to. The world of comic books are changing, and this seems a hold back to the days of snooty shop keeps, and childish fans. Now, this could be wrong. I've only gone in four or seven times. But, the atmosphere is not one I've found of acceptance, and people new to comics have not felt comfortable or helped within. And, when there are so many other shops in the city that do make an attempt to welcome and introduce new customers to an art form, there's little reason to stop here. Unless there's something about the old ways you really truly love. Something comforting; like the sacrifice of doomed loved ones, and those closest to them, amongst the heathenish flames, cast upon the rocky seas.

(wheres gerrard? pape? is that in the beaches?) ....this might be the dialogue you might be having...understandable if so, because this place is reallly for the neighbourhood folks. itd be great to be a kid living around this neighbourhood and be able to pop into this place after school. its on a street that is mostly residential with some stores on it, but youd have to know the neighbourhood or be a comic fanatic to know of it. that being said, they have an ample supply of action figures; mainly superheroes are to be found and at prices a bit lower than you might find elsewhere. its a small place, so theyll have a bit of everything, with a focus on superhero and action comics. but still, there are graphic novels available and the owner is very helpful and easy to talk to. hell also order in issues that you are looking for if you want. for the sheer convenience, id come here if i knew exactly what i wanted, and because, if the price of the comic is the same as everywhere else (as it usually is) they offer one of those buy 10 get one free (there are conditions of course but the principle still stands). overall it was a great neighbourhood find and i will be back, especially to get successive issues of the superman comic i bought - if its any good!

The efforts go into the merchandise and service rather than ambiance, and considering the near impossibility for a comic store to muffle that stuffy feeling, I'd settle for what Atomic Age has going. The store houses a good collection of comics and graphic novels, offering new and vintage. And of course, the usual knick knacks at the front counter. The owner is very nice and helpful and will order in issues of series not found on shelves for customers. It's a pretty easygoing place and owner was great with helping me find what I was looking for, but it's a little too packed inside for browsing. Good place to visit if you are able to locate it - it's very small and easily overlooked, and located in a mainly residential neighbourhood. Normally a place like this would get the standard 3 stars but the owner was very helpful and friendly so it gets a bump up.
