To begin, it is important to acknowledge the exceptional quality of their product, arguably the best of its kind. I personally owned one for several years in my old Jeep and recently ordered a new one for a 2025 Rubicon when it became available. However, two days after placing my order, the product went on sale for a 20% discount. I contacted "Chad McCarty" and "Shawna Van Gorp" to inquire about honoring the sale price. Unfortunately, they were unable to do so. They informed me that I would need to return the unit once it arrives, cover the shipping costs, and then re-order. In my opinion, this is a concerning lack of customer service in today's business environment. Despite these shortcomings, their product is undoubtedly high-quality and reliable. I like the safe overall, but the experience with the company left a lot to be desired. It arrived over two weeks after ordering, despite being listed as in stock, which was frustrating. More importantly, the lockset showed up installed noticeably askew--not even close to 90 degrees. I was able to adjust it myself, and while it can't be perfectly square by design, it was significantly off until I corrected it. I sent photos to customer service, and their response was dismissive, which was disappointing given the issue. I also left this same exact review and score on their website using the email they sent to review the product. Have done it twice now - and it goes thru to a pending status. But mysteriously disappears and never shows up on their website. IE they cherry pick what actually gets published making them appear to have a higher score than reality. Nothing below a 4 stars can be found on their website but as soon as you jump over to 3rd party sites like this you find a true rating for that company. Like the safe, not the company. read more

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY WITH MISLEADING INFORMATION ON THEIR WEBSITE!! I purchased this vehicle safe on 12/23/25. I have a 2022 Ram 2500 Limited Longhorn. I review Console Vaults website. It stated I needed a low profile model so the console slide would operate. There were many lock styles to pick from. Barrel key, several roller type combinations and an electric battery button type. I didn't want to deal with a barrel key or have to do the tumble combos so I opted for the electric which was $100 more than the barrel key and 3 tumbler combo. The website stated all the locks would fit a Limited Longhorn model. I received the safe on January 31st and installed it. Installation was okay but took a little time getting the safe down into the compartment. I then had to screw 4 7/16"self tapping screws, 2 in each side of the safe. The screws penetrated into each side of my console compartment. When I finished, I shut the safe but my sliding compartment would not slide open unless the door on the safe was opened. I thought this was weird. I sent an email to the company about the situation. They responded stating only the barrel key works with my model of truck. I sent them a photo of their website showing it fit a Limited Longhorn model. They stated their website was wrong and told me they fixed the website mistake. They offered to send me the lock with the barrel key and I stated that is not what I wanted. I also stated the barrel lock wouldn't work because it sticks up too high and my sliding console would hit it as well. They then stated I could return the safe. I asked them if they would pay for a new console since I had screw holes in mine. They said the best they could do is send me a return label. The company agent finally stated "I've passed you along to our owner. If he decides to reach out to you, then you can work out any of those details with him. I am not authorized to make any agreements such as that." I've heard nothing from him. I figured he would want to resolve this issue. read more

I purchased and installed a Console Vault in my 2010 Nissan Xterra in 5/23. Overall, I believe it was a worthwhile purchase. But a caveat: It is not a completely sealed container. Of course its lid is solid though its sides and bottom are essentially metal struts, leaving large openings in those areas. However, once one inserts the "vault" into the preexisting Xterra console, it does form a complete "safe." And in that sense, I regard it as superior and easier to access than those car safes one would attempt to hide under a seat. I did purchase the "Elite 4-Digit Lock." It, like the Console Vault itself, is easily installed into the Xterra's console. The entire process probably took 15-20'. But again a qualification: While this lock - one of a few lock options - is easy to operate, it does not conform to the interior of the Xterra console lid. That is, the lid will not fit flush with the integral console and completely latch as it cannot lower far enough to insert into its latching mechanism: The height of this particular lock is too tall to allow that. The lid only occasionally can be heard to vibrate as a result and it does not fly open or any such thing. But it will not and cannot latch. Whether the other lock options are similarly too tall, I have no way of knowing. By itself, this is not a significant enough problem to recommend against it. But be aware that this particular Console Vault model will not permit closure of the Xterra console lid. From the outside of the SUV, I doubt it would be apparent to anyone "casing" the car as it does appear to be fully horizontal. Again, I'm glad I made the purchase but I would much rather prefer the "Vault" was a completely enclosed container and that at least this particular lock allowed for the complete closure and latching of the Nissan lid. read more

I ordered a 'made to fit' console safe. It did not fit in my highlander. I told them this, they sent an updated video. This helped a little. But once I actually measured things, they had sent me a 7.5 inch wide safe to fit in a console a little under 6 inches wide. Then they blamed ME for not installing it correctly. I sent it back (at my expense) and it took a week+ after they received it to issue a refund. When I tried to log on to their website to leave a review - they blocked me from logging in. I want one of their so-called engineers to explain to me how a safe 7.5" wide is supposed to fit in a space under 6" wide. No apologies, no updates, no nothing. read more

I've had multiple positive experiences with Console Vault, having ordered 2 Console Vaults from them over the years & also ordered a replacement lock. ALWAYS had great experiences with this business, but my review will focus on my most recent purchase. I placed an order, & due to the browser I was using I didn't get the pop up window that said the item was a pre-order, as it was currently out of stock (I wanted the Elite 4-digit lock). After I realized something had gone awry (item didn't ship immediately), I reached out to customer service, & I got 5 STAR HELP. They offered me an alternate product that could ship immediately, & promised to send me the lock I wanted once it was back in stock. Without ANY follow up from me AT ALL, when the Elite Lock came back in stock they shipped one to me IMMEDIATELY. Honestly, I figured I'd have to monitor the in/out of stock status & reach out myself. Nope!! I think the woman I spoke with on the phone was named AMBER, & she deserves special credit for the multiple times she followed up with me about this. Products are excellent (easy install in my 2016 4Runner, just as it was years ago with my 2005 4Runner) & CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWESOME. read more

In most cases they install in less than 15 minutes including setting the custom combination. They are available for many (most) car configurations. you have a choice of lock with barrel key, 3 number combo or 4 number combo. I selected 3 # combo because didn't want to have a key to deal with and wanted less numbers for quick access. I used my daily, best auto accessory I have purchased in years and they make outstanding gifts. No, I don't work for Console Vault but I am definitely a long time customer because of the superior product they sell. Check them out they cost 200ish to 300ish but well worth it. I actually heard about this product when I was getting ready to buy a new Ford Explorer. Ford offers it as an option for $329. I decided to go onto the businesses website and found that I could buy it from them for $60 less. Thanks Ford. The Product: It comes in three flavors 1) keyed 2) three tumbler lock 3) four digit tumbler lock I ordered the less expense KEYED version. When I got it I discovered that to use it as an everyday storage, you'd have to use the key to open and close it because key will not come out of the lock unless it is in the locked position. So I emailed them and asked if I could exchange it for a 4 digit tumbler style (you can just leave that unlocked and use the knob to open and close it). They were very responsive and shipped my new one as soon as they had a tracking number for the return. I also had lost one of the two keys for my original order and told them just to charge a new key/lock to me because it was my fault. They never did. Bought the safe for my Truck. Got it on Wednesday and decided to wiat until Saturday to install. Something went wrong with Combo lock and could not get it to work. Left a message with them and they called first thing Monday morning. Told them the problem and they overnighted a new lock and told me how to get the old one out. SUPER Customer service! Decided to try their product and was able to find an excellent condition used one for a Jeep Grand Cherokee to save some money. It came with no instructions so I reached out to this company. I needed help with changing the combo at first, since the seller forgot to give me his code at first but then he was able to supply it so that was good. The company's response was to charge me $35 for a new lock and only after that would they send me the install instructions. After telling them that I got the code changed and do not need a lock, they just went silent and are leaving me to find out how to install on my own. If you buy a used TV or just about anything else nowadays, you can get free support and technical info from just about any company, just not this one. I would say: "If you can't stand behind your product, you are not a good company and I would recommend people go elsewhere." read more
