The company offered us a car with completely worn out tires. It is dangerous to drive a car with such tires, especially on mountain roads. I told that we'd like to change a car and ready to pay for an upgrade, as we'd like to avoid car crash. The staff lady started to be not just rude - aggressive! Her words "you pale face think you can buy everything, get F** here". Unprecedented customer support at Conrad car rental! The vacation was almost ruined for 4 people. We've booked a car 2 weeks prior to arrival, as our rental house located in the other part of the island (impossible to get there by a taxi). It was a holiday season - all car rental companies on St.John were fully booked! Luckily, other car rental company nearby was super helpful and helped us to find a car (it was in a perfect condition!). I don't recommend Conrad Sutton Car Rental because they don't care about your safety, comfort and mental health! read more

Made a reservation on-line. Received a confirmation number for the rental. On that confirmation was a confirmation code only. No details of the date I rented, the car, or the price just the downpayment of $150.00. I sent an email requesting additional confirmation information. 3 days later after my inquiry I get an email saying there are no cars available for those dates!!! WTF!!!! what would they have done if I did not send the additional email asking for more info and worse yet if I showed up and whooops no car???? Be careful great scam artists!!! read more

I always use these guys when we visit STJ. They are very friendly and attentive to your needs. Treat them with respect and that's what you'll receive in return. The Jeeps are perfect for the island. Plus you can you use their parking lot when you are downtown for dinner, shopping, or whatever. It's a very short walk from Conrad's to the National Park Dock in Cruz Bay. We have rented from Conrad Sutton for several years now. Are the vehicles glamorous? No. They get you from A to B and roughly $150 less per week. Well... all good things must come to an end. We arrived on island to pick up our previously reserved vehicle to find the shop closed. My husband called Conrad who then contacted his daughter who then called us to say they'd send someone down to give us our keys. 20 minutes later, Susanne called back to say the they have no car for us bc they rented ours out to someone yesterday. Soooo, we have joined the long list of many disappointed customers of Conrad Suttons car rental. Thankfully it's is off season and there were several other options nearby who wanted our business! We will be renting from Courtesy Jeep Rental going forward. Moral of the story? You get what you pay for... and sometimes you don't even get that!!! read more

I rented a Jeep for 10 days with Conrad Sutton and it was a great experience. Reservation was easy: I sent an email via their website asking about availability and rates, and received a response with more information within the hour. With that information, I called to confirm with a credit card the next day, and then received another email confirming my reservation. For pick-up, we called Conrad Sutton from our villa, and they came to pick us up and drive us to their location! Our driver was prompt and very friendly. Once at their location, check out was pretty straightforward, a matter of completing paperwork, and showing our drivers licenses. We then did a full inspection of our rental car, noting all the dings and marks to the car prior to our taking possession. Everything my husband and I pointed out was documented on a sheet of paper, and we were given a copy. One great bonus of renting through Conrad Sutton was the ability to park in their lot whenever we drove to Cruz Bay. We used this more than once, when having dinner in town or shopping. They are very conveniently located just around the corner from Wharfside Village, and down the street from Rhumb Lines and Longboard. One time we parked and a Conrad Sutton employee was cleaning out a recently returned vehicle. He re-parked our car for us so we'd have a better spot upon our return, and even vacuumed out the car for us! Returning the car was easy, and there were no hidden mystery charges or gotchas. We made sure we thoroughly vacuumed out the car ourselves after several more days at the beach, and returned the car with a full tank of gas, both per the rental agreement. Overall, we had a great experience with Conrad Sutton, and I will be renting from them again the next time I'm in St. John. Recommended. read more

READ BEFORE YOU BOOK! DO NOT PUT YOURSELF AT RISK BOOKING WITH THIS COMPANY!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! I spoke with a very pleasant woman to request availability for a vehicle. She searched the dates and confirmed for me that they had a vehicle available for my requested dates. She told me to submit the online reservation request form and she would confirm the booking. I submitted the online request form immediately after speaking with her, along with entering in my credit card information. I received an e-mail confirming submission of the booking request, and the e-mail said that if you have not received confirmation in 24 hours, call or e-mail to confirm. I did not receive any confirmation within 24 hours, so the following day, I called to confirm. I then spoke with quite a character. Not only was he incredibly rude, after speaking with him for 5 minutes, in my opinion, it very much seemed like he was high out of his mind. I suspect this to be the case because A.) he sounded INCREDIBLY high lol, B.) I would repeat the requested dates, he would recite them back to me, and then within 10 seconds, ask me 3 more times to repeat the dates(we repeated this entire process 5 times on the call), and C.) he could not seem to comprehend why I was calling, or what I was asking him to do - all while he's answering calls at a car rental place....to book cars...wild! Finally he tells me that there are no cars for those dates. I then asked him if he would mind re-confirming the dates one more time, so I could be sure he was searching for the right dates. Not only could he not remember them, and could not tell me which dates he searched for, but he asked me to tell me the dates again so he could confirm. When I asked him again, and asked if I could speak to someone else, he said he was the only person there (despite the fact that I could hear another rep in the background). He then hung up on me. I called back to say we got disconnected, and he hung up on me again. I tried one more time, he hung up on me again. When you're heading for a relaxing vacation, and need to be sure that you have a car reservation confirmed, don't put your peace of mind, and your entire vacation at risk by booking here - I would try literally everywhere else before booking with this company. All I have to say is wow... called 2 days ago to reserve a jeep from April 27 - May 5. Was quoted at the off-season rate for the duration of the rental, and when calling back with my credit card info they tried to charge me at the full season rate. When asked why the change, the person on the phone said aggressively , "This is what it is, and either you can accept the rate or take your business somewhere else." That's not the tone any business should have with customers, and I am doing exactly what he said to do. Took my business somewhere else. read more

There is NO BETTER way to go for a Jeep rental than Conrad. I have been renting from him for several years and I absolutely love them. Conrad himself steals my heart every time I see him. Is he quiet and a bit reserved? Sure but I get him smiling and laughing every time. My husband and I just rented from him May 30-June 5 and once again perfect transaction and great Jeep for the week. His daughter Susie works the office. She's a gem. Don't expect them to be super animated and talkative at first they are very business like and professional. But... if you are kind and talk to them they open up and are extremely hospitable. I told Conrad I'm his favorite customer and he started laughing. I love him and look forward to making him laugh every chance I get. read more

So very very disappointed...been a long time Jeep renter at Conrad Sutton and will no longer be giving them my $1800+ annually. Cars are very worn out and old. Any money they put back into the vehicles comes from the dollars they extort from you upon return. If you think they are cheaper on the front end don't worry they'll make it up on the backend. Take my advice and rent elsewhere, you have been warned. There are dozens of other options now on the island to rent from that are open for biz with brand new rides. My mother and I rented a jeep during the off season earlier this month for two days as we were staying on the remote side of the island and the bus only ran for a half day Saturday and not at all on Sunday. We talked to several different jeep rentals as we wandered around Cruz Bay, but no one was as accommodating or as friendly to us as the employees at Conrad. From the sweet and friendly lady we talked to to pick up the jeep, to the man that checked us back in, to the lovely gentleman that did the walk through and cleaning the jeeps when we got back. What really made it for me was, four hours after returning the jeep, I was sitting in the airport in Saint Thomas, and realized that I had left my sweatshirt inside the jeep. I emailed them upon returning the states, identifying the jeep we had and the sweatshirt. They returned my email the next morning, I sent them a prepaid shipping label and three days later it was back. Both my mother and I fully recommend Conrad Sutton, they have competitive pricing and are courteous helping to add to the positive overall experience of visiting Saint John. read more
