Most recently I used Lisa and her team to help me pull off an ambitious move to a smaller place that required me to sell, donate, store, or dispose of 75% of my furniture and belongings -- in a very short amount of time. I was completely overwhelmed. The Organizing Mentors did a spectacular of helping me sell what I could, donate or trash what I couldn't, and decide which was which. Lisa also hooked me up with a number of invaluable resources to help with other aspects of my move. This team is responsive, reliable, reasonably-priced, remarkably competent one-stop shopping for any. kind of organizing, decluttering, or moving challenges you might face. If I could give them a 10-star rating, I would.

My advice to anyone having to do the same thing, is do your best to gather or remove all of the items you/family want to keep so when OM come over to help it is easier to say, "donate, sell or throw away". Although I have never used a service like this before, they saved me alot of time and frustration. How do you put a price on time? Plus most say "I don't judge" or "I've seen worse", because Rebecca just got to work I realize I've never quite believed it. The photo is the result of only four hours of work, two of which I simply hid. Some is trash, obviously, although I do have an excuse for the hamper. The rest is donations, things I don't use or wear which other people actually need. I'm not attaching inside photos: I can finally get to the entire floor but haven't vacuumed it yet. It's like this: once things started to go bad it had just kept getting worse. My walk-in closet and bedroom had gotten so cluttered I didn't have a place to put clean laundry, had sheets in various places, rope baskets piled on top of boxes - all with a jumble of crafts and clothing and books and whatever. I couldn't even find space to pull it all out to sort it. Rebecca arrived, I hid in my study. 2 hours later she had things to the point that I could come in and start making decisions. And she'd found four cat brushes - I kept buying new ones and duplicates because I couldn't find what I had. My homework is getting all the laundry done and put away. She's gathered other groups of small things I can easily sort through to keep only what I need. And collecting all the paper including stuff to be filed so old I don't need it and old files. Only some of it needs to be shredded and I don't think she knows what she's getting into but know that she can handle it. Then we tackle the next stage. my living/dining room. We all had good intentions: during the lockdown we pulled things out of places to organize them then were too overwhelmed to actually do it. Three years and Rebecca got this part done in little over three hours.

I didn't have those skills, and the thought of trying to do the work myself was a source of anxiety. Mercia was just the person for the job. She is efficient with her time, and has a very calming presence. She is also a great teacher, and took the anxiety out of the process. I highly recommend her. As a result, I had piles of things everywhere. Containers and cooking implements would topple over and onto my head constantly. Drawers were overflowing with clothes. This was not a cute look. The task: Create storage solutions that look nice and allow me to cook frequently with ease and live comfortably--maybe even entertain occasionally!--within this 400 square foot home. Enter Amy: Miracle worker! Amy has always been able to translate my incoherent ideas and goals into beautiful, streamlined solutions. She is attentive and asks all the right questions to ensure that what we're implementing fits my lifestyle and quirks. When I whine that I have no idea how to organize the door of my fridge and could she please come help me, she does so without complaint or judgment. [insert heart emoji - Yelp wouldn't let me add it] The result: I now have a beautifully minimalist, airy small home that feels plenty spacious and peaceful to me. I can cook with ease; everything is within reach and tidy. In addition, Amy helped me select some design elements that make the space look pretty, cozy, and lived in. AND! With a few spare minutes after one session, she even helped me organize my gmail, which had been causing me dread and overwhelm. Now my inbox is tidy and actionable! My husband was home to unpack other rooms and would answer some of her questions, but she would text throughout the day to get my input on things as well. She created a very functional coffee station; an easy-to-use spice cabinet separating the sweet spices, savory spices, and spice mixes; and got a little turntable to put next to the stove with the four items we use the most while cooking. My favorite part about working with Amy is how she did a walk-through when she was done and explained her thought process so that we can stay organized on our own. This is the first time in my life I haven't dreaded unloading the dishwasher or unpacking groceries. I actually enjoy cleaning up the kitchen almost as much as cooking in it.
