After the service person was here for 15 minutes max he left and said that a charge would come via email. He never mentioned additional charges. we got the email invoice and was charged more than $200 for his untangling a chain. we called to dispute this charge and were told too bad. They agreed that they never mentioned additional charges beyond the quoted $350 when we spoke. They started yelling about how long it took to get here fighting traffic even though they arrived within a half hour of our original call. Very disappointing that we were charged $555 for 15 minutes work. I do not recommend this company. Was paying invoice and was told the cc service charge was 4% even though service person said it was 3%. Scam.

Since…read morethey're less than 3 years old, I just wanted a cursory check & filter cleaning for the a/c in the spring & the furnace in the fall. I decided to go with TLC, a small, local company rather than a large business. I spoke to Patty at TLC last April and was quoted a price for what I thought (since I asked for annual contract pricing) was for 2 visits and a lower price should I need any additional service. The a/c check went fine and I paid $325 thinking it was for an annual contract. Yesterday was my furnace check. I called at 10am and was told a service person would be here by 12:30-1:00. Well...it was after 2:00. No big deal. Sean cleaned the filter & checked my gas fireplace (2 years old). It took about 1/2 hour. He then asked me for $325. I couldn't speak. From my spring phone call with TLC, I thought I had an "annual" contract that included the spring & fall visits for a total of $325 - not $650!!! Totally outrageous. $325 for 1/2 hour?!? I could have done this work myself. Live & learn. Oh - when I looked at the contract emailed to me in the spring, it had expired, so I couldn't even review the original paperwork. Make sure you get the contract mailed to you. Don't let TLC rip you off. And Sean (service guy) even solicited side jobs for himself, saying he moves outdoor furniture for TLC customers and helps with small jobs. No thanks! I work hard and am so upset with having to pay so much for such a small job. It's crazy.

I own three homes in West Cape May. Two of them had 2 zone HVAC systems installed by Richardson…read moreHeating & Cooling. This summer I had an issue at one of the houses related to excess condensation around the vents and a musty smell inside the house. These issues resulted in the loss of an $11,000 booking. I called them to investigate and they came back to me with a $4,700 quote to fix the issues. This didn't sound right so I called another contractor and they fixed the issues for less than half the price but more importantly they pointed out that the issues were caused by Richardson and their poor initial installation. It was also pointed out that all four zones are improperly sized and very poorly installed so I will continue to have issues. When I called Richardson's they were defensive and wouldn't even pass my concerns onto the owner and I was told the owner couldn't be reached. The units are over sized, the duct work is undersized, the line sets were improperly installed, none of the condensate lines were run out of the crawl space, the list goes on and on. I might be looking at a $60,000 expense to reinstall 4 zones of HVAC. Stay away, they don't care about the quality of their work. The new contractor even said they do work poorly but know how to cover their tracks so the issues don't show themselves right away and by then it's too late.

Didn't seem right to me so I called the manufacturer (Carrier). They told me that an aluminum heat exchanger had a 20 year warranty and if it had the stainless steel heat exchanger that has a lifetime warranty. My unit is six years old. Carrier recommended an affiliate contractor. They replaced the thermostat in the house and the unit is running fine. Richardson's people never even stepped foot in my house. Beware, they just want to push new units
