Disgusting bathrooms. Overpriced gas. No receipt at pump. Avoid this place if possible.

Is there a negative button when they don't deserve a star? No pumps work, smells like crap, keep driving!

This is a totally fabulous hotel that is simply a wonderful getaway. I've been there a number of…read moretimes, and shall return! But...a comment to management: Fix the coffee. The rooms do not have coffeemakers, so the hotel provides free coffee in the lobby. This would be lovely if the coffee were drinkable. But it's not. It should not be that hard to get some decent coffee in. Your second option is really not better. The bar has an espresso machine and will serve you a latte. But that has a $10 price, plus tax and tip makes $13. For a cup of coffee. No, $13 for a cup of coffee is not a viable idea. And it sends a message which is not a good message.

This is a very interesting historic hotel located right on the train line. Apparently, this…read morebuilding was once one of the Fred Harvey Houses built along the railroad line. It was also designed by a female architect, something that was not common at all at that time (or even now, sadly). Lots of movie stars and even presidents have stayed here and the property has a long, interesting history, you can read about. At present, there is a literal train stop at the back of the hotel, just about 100 feet away. Really. If train noises at all hours--and I do mean at ALL hours--bothers you, make sure you specifically ask for a room far, far away from the train tracks. We were about mid-way from the tracks and could hear trains all night long. Yes, each room has ear plugs but not everyone wants to wear those things. The hotel has a very nice looking restaurant and bar (and they do have a happy hour) and the bar doubles as a coffee house in the morning, which is smart business. We didn't eat at the restaurant, mostly because the dinner prices were off the charts, although I would have liked to have done so. The lunch prices seem more reasonable. The property itself has a beautiful courtyard and a large room they call a "ballroom" and lots of spaces for exploring. They also have many free board games set about which you can use. At the back of the property, facing the train stop, there are chairs set about if you want to relax and/or watch the trains. Apparently, there are roving skunks, too, so keep that in mind. Personally, I would have liked to have seen a wild skunk or two (are there any domesticated skunks?). Our room was delightful. The entire property has a Southwestern theme and decor. During our visit, they had some absolutely wild art hung about here there and everywhere. Perhaps this art is up permanently. I love art but some of it, apart from just being on the weird side, was also somewhat political and, frankly, I think distracted from the beauty of this place. I would stay here again...but only if I was located far, far from the trains at night.

The Park itself is just okay. 30amp service and sewer in most of their sites. Everything seems…read morefairly clean. Note: the sewer hookups aren't threaded so bring a sewer donut, even then it looks like it's going to pop out. Limited internet at the front office from 9am-1pm. Dial-up internet available in the laundry facility (limited to 5 min) No Pool, hot tub, playground, dog run, shade trees. Nothing. Literally a place to charge your RV batteries and do laundry. Laundry facility is clean. Machines are nice. The reason I gave 2 stars, is because the crotchety old lady working the front desk was rude as soon as we pulled in. We cancelled our first night of a 4 night reservation through Good Sam the day prior to our arrival. When we got there we were immediately chastised for not calling. She claimed she had to sit in the office all evening to wait for us. Somehow I guess that's our fault, which is comical, because every other RV Park just leaves a late check-in slip on their front door. I never asked her to sit there all night. That's asinine behavior. There wouldn't have been any issues, since it's us and 5 other RVs here, 3 of which appear to be REALLY permanent. When I explained what happened I was accused of lying and we were charged for the full 4 nights. She claims it's a "Resort fee", which is pretty lofty for a glorified trailer park. Good Sam is closed on Sundays so there's no one to help resolve the dispute. We leave tomorrow, and will be on to another state and honestly the nightly fee isn't worth me trying to get a refund through their parent company - which is the refund policy, by the way. If you're traveling cross country and need to rest for a night or do some laundry, this is your place! Looking for a relaxing place to spend your vacation, look elsewhere.

I have recommended this place to at least a dozen people passing through in the last 2 years. We…read morehave friends staying there now and they told us we would be charged $5.00 per person by the office to stop by and visit. Why would the owners think customers guests should pay $5.00 per person to stop and see friends? If anyone has paid that they themselves are idiots like the idiot that came up with that idea. I will never recommend this place to anyone again. My recommendation to the owner is get rid of that dumbass rule and maybe spend a little bit of the little money you make on maintenance of that place. Other than grass cutting doesn't look like anything has been maintained in years.
