I did not see signage for its anticipated re-opening. The woman at the gate who took my national park pass was not at all chatty. Not welcoming. She also did not indicate that this center was closed. I still got out to walk around and check it all out. Then I decided I should use the restroom before my haul to Albuquerque. Denied! The restroom in the nearby dining hall was closed for cleaning. Lol. It would have been nice to have gotten my passport stamps and learn a thing or two, but maybe next time if there is one...

I got my passport stamp, and we were able to quickly purchase postcards and a DVD that was on sale. Even though it was close to closing time there were plenty of people still in the center, but the staff didn't seem to mind they were still smiling. I do regret not being able to spend the time to look at the exhibits in the center, but next time I'll try not to dawdle on the drive through the parks.

The beds were freshly made, the restroom was clean, and everything was functioning. And that's really all I can ask. To be sure this is not a Hilton or a Radisson, this is your basic. I need a place to spend the night room. The place feels safe. It's by a bunch of restaurants, and there is just so much to love about this place! Bottom line? Eggs, bacon, bread products, fruit, coffee, juice, waffle/pancake mix, lots of things to choose from. All kept warm and fresh at this location. There are NO elevators here, so if you're on the 2nd floor, be prepared to drag your suitcases up stairs. This is becoming an issue for my knees now which I found out during this trip. I used points to get a discount on the room rate - its on par with what everyone else in the area is charging. The front desk was welcoming and informative. He even gave us a coupon for a free half pound of petrified wood from a local souvenir shop. (It's smaller than you think - when the wood petrifies is gets HEAVY. 1/2 pound will be a small piece that fits in the palm of your hand.) When we stopped in January 2021, there were staff members limiting capacity to 5 people and requiring people to wear masks, in effect enforcing what should be common decency at all rest areas during the pandemic. To be more precise, it is next to the laundry room which you hear all day and then starts up again at 4:15 a.m. If you want quiet - this is not the place: in addition to the laundry issue, it sounded like they were bowling in the room above us. If you need a good breakfast - this is not the place. Waffles, toast and cereal. If you like a firm to medium firm mattress - this is not the place. The bed was very soft. To add insult to injury, they charged us $10 for checking in early - what difference does it make to them if the room is ready? Overall: total disappointment, highly recommend staying elsewhere.

Didn't know that until we were told that checking out.. They weren't even fully booked.. The room was small.. The Clark Gable Room.. Who ever stuck us in that room wasn't very nice, just saying.. The bed was hard and difficult to sleep on and the pillows didn't make it much easier either..Also there is only one outlet to charge phones on. There is only a charger/outlet on the table next to sink area. The air conditioner had one speed and didn't cool very well.. It was only 98 degrees outside.. I will tell you the shower room was seperate from the sink which was nice.. The shower was spacious and comfortable to shower in.. The lavender soap is nice too.. The towels were super thick and nice.. Had we been in a bigger or more comfortable room i probably would have given more stars.. To be honest.. Probably won't stop here again..

Laundry facility is clean. Machines are nice. The reason I gave 2 stars, is because the crotchety old lady working the front desk was rude as soon as we pulled in. We cancelled our first night of a 4 night reservation through Good Sam the day prior to our arrival. When we got there we were immediately chastised for not calling. She claimed she had to sit in the office all evening to wait for us. Somehow I guess that's our fault, which is comical, because every other RV Park just leaves a late check-in slip on their front door. I never asked her to sit there all night. That's asinine behavior. There wouldn't have been any issues, since it's us and 5 other RVs here, 3 of which appear to be REALLY permanent. When I explained what happened I was accused of lying and we were charged for the full 4 nights. She claims it's a "Resort fee", which is pretty lofty for a glorified trailer park. Good Sam is closed on Sundays so there's no one to help resolve the dispute. We leave tomorrow, and will be on to another state and honestly the nightly fee isn't worth me trying to get a refund through their parent company - which is the refund policy, by the way. If you're traveling cross country and need to rest for a night or do some laundry, this is your place! Looking for a relaxing place to spend your vacation, look elsewhere.
