All of the huge toilet paper rolls were sitting on top of the dispensers. The floor was littered with wet toilet paper. The trash cans were full and there was no paper towels at all. I couldn't wait to get out of there and to the park where I knew there would be clean facilities. This is a horrible first impression and representation of the Naive Americans of this area. I'll never return, even for gas. And the worst part was that the majority of the patrons were natives. We were in a line heading to the bathrooms in the back of the gift shop. There were signs that the men had to use the port a potty outside somewhere, but I decided to take my 7 year old boy to the women's bathroom instead. We were walked my single file through the shop - me, my two daughters and two sons at the end. I stop at the bathroom to let my 7 year old go first and he and his 9 year old brother were not behind me. I back track into the shop to find them heading out another back door with some strange man! I stop them, alarmed, and the man , who was wearing a uniform shirt, says he is taking them to the bathroom. Uh, NO! I said that They were staying with their mother and I was taking them to the women's bathroom. He immediately jumped down my throats about their septic issues and how he was doing me a favor by show my them to the port a potty. He was instantly all pissed off and I was freaked out. We left immediately and go back out front to find that the port a potty is out front on the side of the gas station - the opposite direction this guy was leading them. I took my boys back to my husband and brought my girls back into use the bathroom. I see the guy works there so I stop and told him that it is not okay to lead kids off away from their parents without telling them. He agains flips out and starts yelling at me "to get out of HIS town." What a nut! The guy was already in a neck brace....I'm going to assume that is from the last parent who had to kick this pervert's a$$. PLEASE, if you are headed northbound, go a couple miles further to nice gas stations and avoid this guy. If you have to stop - watch your kids!

In the meantime, I witnessed what appeared to be various men aimlessly wandering around the parking lot as if they were lost and confused. When my husband returned, I found out why. The indoor bathroom connected to the museum is only available to women, and men are required to use the portable toilet. Why is beyond me. I entered the museum when a male voice behind me uttered, "Restrooms?" That's when I pointed to the sign on the door and proceeded to explain to who I thought was yet another perplexed male visitor that I was told only women were allowed to access the indoor restroom, and men had to use the portable toilet. I then noticed his shirt and realized he was an employee practically tripping over himself to direct me to the facilities, which I thought was weird. Before I even entered the bathroom, I was turned off by some sign on the door shooing away men and encouraging women to "sit down and relax during the performance." (Huh?) While doing my business, I saw another sign by the doorknob along the lines of, "Before you leave, do you have your sunglasses? Phone? Purse? Panty up?" (Seriously, panty up? Who talks like that?) There were other strange pictures and signs in and around the bathroom that I didn't have time to explore because I was so creeped out and concerned about someone secretly watching me pee. Instead, I booked it the hell out of there as fast as I could back to my car in time to continue seeing befuddled men wandering about the parking lot. As far as the portable toilets go, my husband said they were "disgusting," "stuffed," and looked like they hadn't been emptied in three years to the point that if you sat down to poop, "your butt would be covered." It kept on pumping even after pulling it out of the tank, creating a large fuel spill. With no emergency shutoff in sight, I had to swing the hose baseball bat style into the concrete pole to make it stop pumping. Gas was all over the place. Called the sheriff about the spill and left after they arrived. This place is not like any other Flying J I have seen and I'll find a different fuel station on the next trip through Hardin.
