But, didn't realize just how wonderful until our wedding. During the entire process, Ray was extremely easy to work with and very accommodating, they even let my dad sing some songs with them, he was in a wedding band most of his life and he thought they were excellent as well and loved singing with them! I have gotten so many compliments and people asking for the bands name since our wedding. We chose to trust the band with the playlist and not veto or choose any songs and the dance floor was crowded all night. OMG, I can't recommend Connexion enough. My daughter got married Sept. 18, 2021 and after a lot of interviews settled on Connexion. We had never seen or heard them live. Well, let me tell you they are awesome. Awesome and extensive playlist. Great emcee to introduce the couple and start the party. They kept the party going. The dance floor stayed packed the entire time. Everyone at our wedding kept telling me that they were the best band they've ever seen at a wedding and so much more fun than a DJ. All ages had fun. I highly recommend Connexion and Ray was an absolute pleasure to work with. He was responsive and reminded us of dates and times. They also worked around our timing of having the ceremony and reception in the same space, so they set up and did sound check in record time. If you need a band for any function in the Chicago area they should be your first choice. read more

This band lied to us repeatedly, breached the contract and left us without a band twelve days before our wedding. Then, after the contract was canceled verbally, via email, and in writing, they still tried to take our money. They lied about being willing or able to learn our music, though neglected to inform us about this until we asked specifically, two weeks before the wedding, if they had taken a look at the music for our first dance. We wouldn't have found out otherwise that they never learned it until the actual night of the wedding. They also demanded that they get literally half of the parking spaces in our parking lot and refused to compromise. All of our other vendors--even the entire catering team-- was willing to take 1 parking spot, but the band manager demanded 13. The contract merely states that we had to provide "parking validation for band vehicles" and without defining either "validation" or how many band vehicles they were bringing, when he demanded this many spaces, he breached our contract. This ended in a very heated phone conversation in which Ray suggested that we cancel the contract, twelve days before the wedding. Ultimately, we found three other bands that were available the night of my wedding and had a great wedding. But this didn't stop Ray from suddenly threatening legal action against us, or from trying to cash the last check we had written him a full 24 hours after he received our written cancellation (a week after the email cancellation). The entire experience was horrible and still turns my stomach. Hiring this band was the worst decision we made in the wedding planning process and I hope no bride or family has to go through what we went through. read more

Connexion Band was referred to us from a co-worker. We booked them for our May 13, 2017 wedding at Trump Hotel Chicago. They were unbelievable. There were 4 singers so it was non-stop through the whole reception. The music genres are diverse...rock, pop, country, easy listening, the classics and top 40. The ceremony and cocktail/happy hour musicians are additional. We opted only for the ceremony pianist. I was a little preoccupied but I didn't hear any negative comments so I think everything was great. I was disappointed that they didn't provide any audio equipment for the Reverend. The Connection Band played at our wedding reception in December 2017. We thoroughly enjoyed their music and received many compliments on the band, even long after the event. They customized a playlist for our preferred style made up of a combination of requests and their picks that fit well. They have an extensive repertoire and would be able to do that for many genres and tastes. They even played a song I asked for that was not on their regular list. They also provided a solo keyboard player to provide background music during dinner. The electricity went out at our reception just before the band was to go on stage and they were prepared to go without electronics if needed (the power came back on). We just had our wedding last weekend (10/6/2012) and the Connexion band absolutely made our night. We ran behind on our schedule for getting through dinner and speeches, so Ray (the bandleader) asked me how the band should approach their opening. They ended up playing with one break the whole night, and the dance floor was completely packed all night. We got so many compliments from our guests about how good the band was. They mix up their vocalists based on which song they are performing, and feed off the crowd's energy. When you tell your wedding guests that you are having a live band perform it sets the expectations for an awesome night. Ray and the Connexion band turned the level up to 11 and had everyone dancing the night away. They had a great sound, lots of energy and knew all the right songs to play. From the moment I picked up the phone to enquire about availability and pricing, Ray was informative, professional and excited about music. Which is perfect. I love music and really love talking with musicians. They knew the venue from past events and directed me to their website featuring an ever updating playlist and samples. Your question is answered before you even ask. At the reception, they were on time, emcee-ed the evening with the bridal party entrance, prayers, music intros and garter toss, bouquet toss. Our special song requests were fulfilled and the rest of the music selections I left up to the band. Ray gauges the crowd and plays just the right song to get people dancing. No request is too ridiculous for the Connexion Band. It was game 7 of the Hawks-Red Wings playoffs on the same night of our reception. I emailed Ray on Thursday before the wedding to ask if they would play Chelsea Dagger if and when the Hawks would win. I'm struggling to come up with words to adequately describe how memorable The Connexion Band made our wedding reception. The dance floor was packed the entire reception...all the way to the very last song. I found myself almost wishing for a so-so song so I could stop dancing for a minute to drink a glass of water, but they were on fire all night! How often do you see the waitstaff dancing in the hallways at a reception? I know, seeing it was a first for me too! The interaction between the band and our guests only added to the fun. The Connexion Band is the best in Chicago!! If you are in need of wedding or party band book this band as you will not be disappointed. Months after my wedding people are still commenting on how great the band was. One friend even referred to my wedding as "the one with the awesome band". My guests were on the dance floor the entire night and at the end even begged for them to play longer. Now for the details. The Connexion Band is wonderful to work with. Unlike other bands who will give you a long hard sell, the Connexion Band lets their talent speak for them. They let my husband and I come hear them at another wedding and we were very impressed. We talked to the Groom at that wedding and he was also full of praise. They were also easy to work with through email which I appreciated since I prefer email to phone. One concern I had going in was if the sound of the band would be too loud for my venue given their size. My reception (of 150 people) was in a good size room but it had low ceilings and no stage. As a result, I was concerned that the band would over power the room. I talked to Ray about this and he assured me the sound would be full but not overpowering and he was right. During my first dance with my Dad he even commented on how great the band sounded. The band is also great reading the audience and picking music to suit. I gave them two songs I didn't want played and gave them free reign for the rest of the music. I would recommend this as they are wonderful at putting a great set together. Finally, if you are at all like my husband and I who were working with a wedding budget, you can't beat the value of the Connexion Band! After my husband and I got engaged we took a planned vacation and then came back and started the wedding planning process. I put some dates on hold at the church and set out to find a reception site. Every time we were amazed by the talent of the band members and the entertainment provided! The Connexion Band was incredibly professional and easy to work with. They sent paperwork right away and were thorough in checking in with us regarding our selections, needs for the evening, etc. The night of our reception (June 2014), we were greeted by band members, congratulated, and they checked in with all members of our wedding party to confirm how to pronounce names (they introduced us as we entered the reception). A band member served as MC for the evening and was very professional. When it came time for the music to start, the room lit up! The dance floor was packed all night long with guests of all ages! We gave the band a list of a few songs that we liked but really trusted them to read the crowd and choose music from there. We had an absolute blast and spent almost every minute on the dance floor. The Connexion Band played our wedding in September and it absolutely could not have gone any better. From the moment that we signed them as our wedding band, their manager Ray was incredibly helpful and stayed extremely organized. As our wedding day drew near, we confirmed everything that Connexion would provide (down to the minor details) and Ray was on top of everything. On our big day, Connexion provided a pianist and various pieces of sound equipment for our ceremony and brought a full 9 piece band to rock our reception. And man alive did they rock. Connexion has an enormous 500+ song repertoire and we were able to lay out which songs we'd like to hear. There were a few instances when Connexion threw in a song that.we hadn't picked but they felt would get our guests going - and it always did They played with so much energy and passion and stayed very true to each song. The only complaint I have is that people had to fight for real estate on the dance floor - it was packed for every minute of the reception! My husband and I booked them for our April 2016 wedding reception, and it was probably the best choice we made throughout the whole planning process. However, it was what I overheard that was especially concerning. What appeared to be the manager was talking to a band member in an extremely rude and disrespectful manner. This review is long overdue and I regret not raving about Connexion sooner! The band played for our July 6th wedding and it was truly worth every penny. We are so happy we went with a band and not a DJ. The band worked with us on some of our special music requests and learned some traditional Jewish music for us as well. They played almost every single one of the songs we requested. They also took it in stride when one of our guests, a singer, unexpectedly got on stage to sing and lead the Hora. Everyone loved the band--every member is talented and brings a unique sound no matter what song they're playing. We are still getting compliments from our wedding guests about how much they enjoyed the music and dancing, all thanks to the band. Connexion performed at our wedding two weeks ago (September 1, 2013), and they were incredible. Initially we were on the fence between getting a band and a DJ for our wedding, and Connexion's affordability allowed us to choose them over a DJ, and we are so glad we did! I found Connexion on Google as I was searching "Chicagoland wedding bands", and after doing some research on Yelp and talking to Ray, we were sold. Ray even invited us to go listen to them perform at another couple's wedding in downtown Chicago, which we did, and we were blown away by the amazing talent of the group and by the number of people on the dance floor. If you are considering hiring Connexion for your wedding, I recommend taking them up on their offer and seeing them perform at another venue, it's like an extra free show! Ray has been super easy to work with throughout the entire process, he is very prompt with replies for emails and always very courteous and friendly. Out of all our vendors for the wedding, they were by far the easiest to work with - I'm a very organized/type A kind of person, and I was a little worried about the promptness of the florist and the bakery, so I called and contacted them multiple times before the actual day. With Connexion I didn't even have a fleeting thought or worry - Ray and I finalized details about a week before over email and that was it - no hassle and no worry. On our wedding day, we had very high expectations for Connexion, and they still blew us out of the water. Their performance the entire night was spot on, and their energy was incredible. We had almost our entire guest list out dancing on the floor the entire night - literally, almost our entire guest list, except for a few older folk that danced in their seats :) Both of our families are fun and pretty outgoing, but I was shocked at some of the people that I saw on the dance floor, Connexion knew all the right songs to play to make everybody dance! We even had some of the band members joining us on the dance floor during one of their breaks, we thought that was awesome!! Also, I was a tiny bit concerned about bridal party introductions, because at both of my sister's weddings in the past, they used DJ's, and they had pronounced names wrong during the introductions (including calling the groom the wrong name as he was being introduced!) --- I was a little worried that my wedding was doomed to have the same fate - somebody's name would be wrong. But with Connexion there was absolutely no need to worry, Ray made sure to get phonetic pronunciations on each person's name in the bridal party, and they did a flawless job with introductions on the day of. Phew! One last thing....every single guest that we talked to RAVED about Connexion. At the end of the night, and the following day, and even now (we are two weeks out since the wedding), our guests are still talking about the band. They were extremely responsive through the whole process and willing to learn and adjust a few songs that meant a lot to us. The fact that they had 9 members left the crowd in awe of the range of genres....rock, country, rap, Top 40, oldies, and BRAND new songs (think 'Feels' by Calvin Harris'). The dance floor was ABSOLUTELY packed the entire night and every song was as though the original artist was singing. They were interactive with the crowd and we had more than a handful of guests say they were the best wedding band they had ever heard! I couldn't agree more, their energy, passion, talent, and genuine excitement to be playing our wedding was unmatched and made it the best day of our lives. The Connexion Band just performed at my Wedding in August. They were unbelievable. I never stopped dancing! There are nine people in the band and play electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard/saxophone and keyboard/trumpet. And what is very unique about this band is they have different vocalists two male and two female so you're not listening to the same voice over and over as with other bands. The package also included a DJ who played music during the cocktail hour and through dinner. The band was dressed in black tuxedos and the women in nice dresses. It was nice because it really tied into the classy and elegant theme of my reception. The played a variety of music that was appealing to all age groups. Everybody was dancing. They really kept my guests moving on the dance floor. There were people that usually never dance that were busting out dance moves. It was quite entertaining. Several people have already been requesting information from me about the band for their upcoming special events. And what's funny is some of the people didn't even attend my wedding but heard great reviews from their family and friends who were guests at the wedding. It has been a couple weeks now since my wedding and my guests are still raving about the band! I highly recommend The Connexion Band!!! read more
