What I love about Sr. is that he keeps the kids IN CHECK! Martial arts starts with discipline and many of these young kids are bouncing around or talking or not listening to directions. I appreciate that Sr. keeps them in line. In fact I prefer it because it's so distracting to the other kids who really want to learn and the parents aren't telling their own kids to buckle up and stop playing around.

I have been training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) at Bashta's for 5 months under Adam Laudano. BJJ is…read moreoffered 3 days a week and also 1 more day of open mat. The classes always start off with a 30 minute warm-up that includes a variety of cardio exercises and stretching. We then usually drill a new technique and/or practical self-defense for up to 45 minutes. Adam's instruction is very detail oriented and thorough. He won't let a single person go through class without being able to perform the technique well. He is respectful and is seemingly unlimited in his knowledge of BJJ. After drilling, we "roll" (spar) with each other for 15-30 minutes. I get the sense that i'm part of a "team" because everyone supports each other at regional competitions. Competing is encouraged as a means to grow skills and progress. No one is expected to win, only to learn. All of the students are very respectful and helpful. There is a variety of white belts all the way to black. The black and brown belts are extremely respectful and helpful to the other students. There is no pressure in Adam's classes, or feeling of judgment by others. The classes themselves are very informal, questions are encouraged at all times. My fitness has greatly improved overall from taking BJJ. I used to go to Planet Fitness 4-5 days a week and see much superior results from doing BJJ.

He's tough, he learned from the best. He makes martial arts an issue of spirit, rather than a mere workout. Highly recommend this to anyone, literally anyone, would benefit from his teachings. Even my mom joined! On that note, it truly is a great place for families, with bonding,

I have been going here for a year, to the 7:30 PM kickboxing class. It is the best workout I have…read moreever had. I am the kind of person who does not do well at a standard gym. I get bored very easily, using the treadmill or elliptical and weights every single day. So last summer I decided to go back to Tae Kwon Do USA. I went there several years ago in 2004 for a few months before I moved to Costa Rica, so I knew exactly what to expect with this class. I have to warn you, this class is not for everyone. It is very intense, and you will definitely sweat. Sir (the teacher/owner) has us do everything from push ups to lunges and punching and kicking and using the bags and gloves. It is a total body workout, and if you are consistent and come here two to three times per week, you WILL see results. The thing I love the most about this class is the other students. It is truly a "judgment free" class. There are people of all levels here, and no one will judge you if you can't keep up. He also changes the workouts frequently so you are always using different parts of your body. I always have had scrawny spaghetti arms, and now I am actually proud to show off my defined arms and shoulders. If you like to work out hard and sweat, and be rewarded for your hard work, then you should definitely come to this class. He has a 5:30-6:30 class Mon-Fri and the 7:30-8:30 class Mon, Wed and Friday. Hope to see you there!

The thing I love the most about this gym is the fact that it is a Carlson Gracie jiu jitsu team. For those who don't know, Carlson had a no nonsense policy. This meant the jiu jitsu he taught was MMA oriented and specifically design to finish fights as quick as possible. This is a great style for anyone who is looking to train for MMA or just learn efficient self defense. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to learn a discipline or just get in shape with a purpose. As long as I can move that's where I will continue to spend my free time and improve my jiu jitsu skills!

If a stranger walks into your school the first rule is to find out who they are and what they need. That showed me right off the bat the integrity and potential customer service. What a disappointed to walk in and be basically turned away. Even as I started to walk out I turned around to see if they would notice. The instructor saw me and let me walk out. Based on that alone I would never want to he part of their school.
