Called to order a floral arrangement this week. Placed the order at 11:00AM and the item was delivered by 2:00PM. The arrangement ordered looked exactly like the one on the website. It was accurate. While Conklyn's isn't the cheapest, you get what you pay for. They are real florists. The vase and arrangement is placed in a sturdy cardboard box holder to easily transport home as the item was shipped to an office. Excellent service. Beautiful flowers. read more

I made a mistake by waiting very late to call and order flowers for homecoming. The person I spoke to on their customer service line was very accommodating, but also very vague. Being a bit nervous, I showed up to pick up the flowers early - no order had been created. All 3 of the employees I spoke to in person at the shop went above and beyond to help resolve this efficiently and graciously. I left with flowers. I was sending birthday flowers (in a specific vase) to a friend who loves the color lavender, but the bouquet shown on the website had no lavender colors. So, I simply called a very nice woman at Conklyn's to see if they would "customize" and put some lavender colored flowers in the bouquet. Not only did she politely say "of course!", she had the floral designer work around the whole lavender color pallete. My friend sent me a pic of the flowers...the color choices were gorgeous! Tried to set up a standing order. Gave them a credit card. Got the run around from day 1. Multiple calls; multiple incompetent people. The right hand has no idea there is a left hand, let alone what it's doing. They claimed to have called me 3,4,5 times to address a payment issue. I never got a call. Then, when I called about my bill, they were rude. If I could give a no star review, I would. Totally incompetent and unpleasant. read more

I received flowers at work from my husband, who doesn't love that?! However, the flowers were a bit lackluster. My hubby asked for a picture of the flowers after I thanked him and he shared that he was disappointed as he had order pink flowers (my favorite color), and although there were some pink flowers, they weren't as expected. Also, some of the flowers were almost dead and most were not at full bloom. In general, the flowers were not full and were not worth the $150 my husband paid (I asked the price for the purpose of this review). Unfortunately, I do not recommend this florist. I had high hopes when doing my own research to find a florist in Alexandria to send a bouquet and some other items for Valentine's Day. While I understand there is a high volume of business today, what I have found with this vendor is the following: 1. Zero customer service - their phone number links to a remote call center that provides you zero assistance - their only stated option is to "send an email to the florist" and "get a call back"; several hours into attempting to locate my order there was zero call back nor even an email response. 2. Zero ability to track your order. 3. Zero interest in addressing customer questions or concerns. In essence, once placing an order with this florist, cross your fingers and pray, as you will get zero response, customer service, or follow-up. I can't recommend highly enough to avoid this vendor, especially when relying on them to deliver to a loved one. I though I was supporting a local business, but in reality this is customer service and responsiveness beyond the worst of a large big-box. Order at your own risk. read more

I was trying to find a florist to help me with 5 identical floral/plant gifts I needed same day. I was hesitant that I was in the right spot because it is a warehouse and a warehouse area but I called and was welcomed in. It was very overwhelming but really cool to see how the business was running. Natalie greeted me and was SO HELPFUL!! The owner came over to check and see how I wanted the plant arrangement to be displayed. It was a breeze to check out. They also had them decorated and boxed in a few hours. I can't rave more about the service. I found out this morning that a friend was in the hospital and went looking for flowers to be delivered. I am from out of state and had no idea where to start. I was so happy to stumble upon Conklyn's. Not only did they have an incredible selection ready to be hand delivered to the hospital today, the prices were reasonable. I put in the order online at 7:30am and the flowers were delivered by 10:30. I, being anxious, called them in the afternoon to confirm and the woman who answered the phone was absolutely lovely. She was able to confirm delivery and went out of her way to give me the phone number to the hospital so I could check with them that the flowers made it up to the room. This was totally last minute and I couldn't be happier. I would 100% recommend Conklyn's. read more

I contacted this florist because I read it had good reviews and I wanted to send my aunt who recently was in the hospital a nice bouquet of flowers. Unfortunately I did order flowers from this florist. The order was made several days before the actual delivery and they still messed it up. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! The flowers I ordered do not reflect what the picture on their website shows (see photos for comparison). So much green filler, and nowhere near as nice. For over $100 in total, I certainly expected more than this. As someone else said, I could have bought flowers from Trader Joes's for a fraction of the price. However, this was a gift for my mother's birthday and wanted to surprise her. Also, do not believe the great ratings they have on their site! They have a place where you can "leave a review." BUT...you can't actually write a review if you put anything less than 5 stars! For 4 stars and under, it switches to a comment form, which is sent to the company as a message and not posted as a review (see photos below). When I send a message expressing my disappointment, this is the message I received. Not even an apology. My message: "My order was delivered, thank you. However, it does not look like the photo on your page. The types of flowers included look basically the same, however it is far less full than pictured." Their response (in its entirety): "The arrangement on the website is showing all the flowers facing forward and we design it all the way around, that could be the difference you are seeing. Let us know should you need anything else. Sincerely, Christy Hicks" This was my reply: "Well, I wish you would include that gem of information alongside your description. I now understand why you have lower reviews than other florists in Alexandria." My biggest error was to not look at the other reviews which say the same thing as mine, as I usually do. I ordered flowers for my best friend's birthday. There was a problem with the arrangement. I called Conklyn's and told them the problem. I took the arrangement to their Wheeler Avenue location where Jimmy and Natalie quickly solved the problem. They redid the order and delivered it to my friend later in the day. They did not charge another delivery fee and added a free Happy Birthday balloon. My friend loves the arrangement. The customer service was excellent. I received these for my birthday. It's a nice arrangement. A few of the flowers have creases and a few of the leaves are bent. I pulled those off immediately. The card doesn't reflect what my Mom intended not said. It's a one-liner and she specified two. It's also supposed to read inevitable, not indelible. A few tweaks needed. I ordered flowers through Conklyn's Florist which were delivered to a friend in Florida. My heart sank when she shared a photo of the bouquet. For the price paid, the bouquet was small with mostly ordinary flowers (daisies, carnations). I emailed Conklyn's a photo of the bouquet and they agreed with my assessment. Response from the owner: "Please advise what I can do to make this right and I will". And he did. I received a call the following business day from the shop and we mutually agreed on a solution. They went above and beyond though the local floral shop was responsible for creating the bouquet. Disappointed. Staff were friendly and flowers pretty enough upon arrival, but foam structure and tape supports in vase made it very hard to water. Even with water, the and the flowers died quickly--starting the next day except for the lilies. Not sure how much of this problem is Covid related, but would not use this florist again.
