Based on one visit - I dropped by for evening Minyan when in town on business. Nice folks, easy to walk in and feel at home.

I agree with Melissa P. It's a solidly Conservative movement congregation with an open mind, which…read moreis perfect for me. There is some quality programming, and they actively pursue young adults. It was refreshing to see a congregation so welcoming to single people without kids! If you want to be included in a leadership role, that is surprisingly accessible given the size of the congregation. I joined this fall, and I co-lead the AAbsolute Unplugged service, am in the choir, and have read Torah. There's a young adult group called "YA'ALL" you can get involved with too. I can't say enough good things about Rabbi Sandler and Rabbi Rosenthal. They're different from one another, and between the two of them they pretty much cover anything you could want in a rabbi. Even so, they work so well together and play off each other. Even Saturday morning Shabbat services have something for everyone. Traditional service, Torah study, Meditation service! Meditation service is small and great for getting to know people. Kiddush luncheon afterward. The regular Shabbat crowd is lots of fun. I come from a small congregation so I was intimidated at first. But please come and introduce yourself. If nothing else, come to Unplugged and say hi!

Now Senior Rabbi Rosenthal is very smart but much more negative, harsh, outspoken & controversial to many, more liberal and opinionated some say. Some longterm Members have left or not very active anymore some say. Last Senior Rabbi Sanders more warm and friendly & menchy. Rabbis should be nice & menchy...

We now have a cantorial soloist, Jessica Tillium who has a lovely voice and does not have the opera back that Cantor Adesnick had. Since the start of COVID-19, the sound system has improved greatly due to all of the live streaming that is done for people unable to travel to services as well as Chevrah Torah and other educational classes. I think the rabbis and staff do an excellent job of making the shul feel inclusive. At the beginning of services, we are asked to turn to a person(s) sitting near us to introduce ourselves to each other. Many of the people have personal name tags they wear who support Temple Emanu-El. There are temporary name tags for those people who are guests and members. I don't think it can get much more Hamish as it already is. Temple Emanu El reaches out to the surrounding community, other synagogues, churches, and the underprivileged who are trying to start their lives over again from the Mary Freedom Hall and local food pantry, non-profit thrift stores, The synagogue community does many more acts of justice and repairing the world. Come visit us on Friday evenings at 7:30 for Shabbat Services.

My kids love the religious school. If you are looking for a synagogue, you should definitely visit Temple Emanu-El.
