It was my favorite hotel during my Portugal trip. While the city where the hotel is located is pretty boring, the hotel is beautiful. They have a parking lot that tends to fill fast so make sure you get there early enough to guarantee a spot. Entertainment-wise, they have a game room with a pool table, a bar with plenty of seating and a secondary room with a large TV projector, a gym, a garden, and more. The rooms are just as beautiful as the common areas and the WiFi works well. Service is friendly. I also stopped by for breakfast one day which was also pretty good. I especially liked the fresh bread. You can't go wrong at this hotel, overall, it has everything you need and more!

The property possesses a large garden with outside swimming pool and you would never know you're only steps away from the town centre. The bedrooms in the main building are the nicest - because of their character - but also the outhouses have their appeal: nearer to the swimming pool, more 'modern' feeling. And breakfast is a feast!

The location was good - the cathedral was only 15 mins walk away. There was free parking too. It was also the first time I've seen the temperature displayed on the aircon, which was brilliant. There was also a bidet, which was nice (I stayed in 4 hotels in Portugal and this was the only place with one) On the downside, there's dim lighting in the room & common areas (though there was a bright table lamp in the room which helped). The room's insulation wasn't great but cranking the heating way up meant it was ok (RIP hotel power bills, but from the guest's perspective that isn't a downside). WiFi was also somewhat inconsistent.

The Pousada is right in the heart of this small village. Our room was really great with beautiful views. The room was more then large enough for two people, comfortable and clean. It was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. They did a fantastic job converting the old monastery into a charming inn and wedding destination. We were here to attend my niece's wedding in August. The Pousada do Mosteiro de Amares did an INCREDIBLE job hosting this event. The setting, grounds, food and staff and everything else was fantastic. It did not hurt that we have absolutely perfect weather on Saturday and Sunday. Everyone we encountered from the The Pousada do Mosteiro de Amares were very helpful and genuinely freindly. The Pousada do Mosteiro de Amares is also in a beautiul location. Braga is just 30 minutes away or so. There are also some river beaches with crystal clear water near by. I can not recommend The Pousada do Mosteiro de Amares enough and it was truly a 5 star experience. It is also part of the Pestana hotel group.

The room was across the street. Very modern, but everything in good working condition. Breakfast was quite extensive and a bit on the sweet side (this is Portugal, not Germany). If next time the Casa do Arrabalde is closed, I will definitely come back here. Price is also perfectly acceptable. The location is quiet: across the bridge, and there is a restaurant and a local eating place on the same square
