We had the pleasure of going to the San Diego Zoo Safari park as a weekend family excursion. Wear…read moresun screen and some good walking shoes as you will easily walk three to five miles or more. Park hours are normally 8am to 4pm, and we arrived around 8:30am on a Saturday morning. Parking is $20 for regular parking, and $50 for preferred parking. The main parking lot has around 20 long rows of parking on a hillside. We went with regular parking and we were able to park in the sixth row which was a short walk to the entrance. The rows fill up fast and the uphill walk gets longer the later you arrive. There was no line to enter and scanning entry tickets for twelve people on one of our cell phones was quick and smooth. We started out by visiting the Wings of the World Aviary, a large netted open-air enclosure with a large number of different bird species. There was an interesting or very colorful looking bird every time you turned your head. Our group kind of blew through here in about five minutes, but I would have definitely liked to stay a lot longer. Right next to the aviary is an area with a large number of flamingos. Elephant Valley was cool with elephants of all ages roaming around. Walkabout Australia was a little underwhelming for the distance walked. We just saw a few kangaroos resting in the shade. There is also a separate room that was very crowded to see only platypus in the US. We visited Tiger Trail but could only partially see one tiger as he was napping in the bushes. The highlight was definitely the safari truck excursion which costs extra and requires a reservation. You ride around various habitats in the back of an open air, covered safari truck. Thomas was our safari guide and did an excellent job pointing out all the different animals along with a lot of great information. He also answered a lot of questions along the way and I think we all learned a lot. The whole park was very clean, there was a lot of different plant life and décor to see, and quite a few sound effects playing in many areas. There was access to plenty of restrooms and drinking fountains, and food spots throughout the park. Unfortunately, we ended up having to leave earlier than planned and missed several parts of the park. I had a great time, and would definitely like to return on our own to take our time and see everything.

We tried a different route today, starting with the tigers, condors, and kangaroos. We then headed for the SP TRAM. On our way, we saw baby "Big Eared" FOXES, and of course the Gorillas. We made the JOURNEY INTO THE WILD @ the new, EARLIER TIME OF 10:30 AM. We both enjoyed the show, but we both had enjoyed the men's version better. NOTE TO RACHEL, and especially SAVANNAH: when you ask for volunteers, and someone right in front of you raises their hand, DON'T DISMISS THEM OUT OF HAND, just because they are sitting in an EV Scooter. It's the SECOND TIME, this has happened!!! We walked down our favorite back walk to get to the SP Tram. It's always a highlight of our day, much the day, though much of that depends upon the DRIVER/GUIDE. This time, we got GUIDE EMILY. She was very, very thorough. AT THE END OF THE RIDE, I got an opportunity to ask her about something she said, something about the mating rituals of giraffes. FINALLY, we made our way to the Denny Sanford ELEPHANT VALLEY. It's as impressive the SECOND TIME AROUND. UTTERLY, beautiful. UTTERLY, words cannot describe the beauty. OVERALL, 2 Thumbs UP, from both of us!!!

They offer burgers, fries and nachos as well as churros! What else can you ask for!? With the southern end view of the mountains, it's ideal if you just want to forget about the worries of the world - even if only for a few minutes. With many tables available as well as shady spots, you can expect me to spend a little extra time here at the terrace. I'll be back for sure as I live food and one of a kind views of the San Pasqual Valley.

I would totally eat here again. They have everything from tacos and burritos to burgers. Location: The location is insane because it's near the lemurs and a short walk to the giant balloon. So it is near a lot of great entertainment! View: The view is incredible from here!! It's all outdoor seating and it was never crowded. They have one of the best views of any restaurant in the zoo!! The only downside is how dirty the tables were. The guy working this area was working very hard to clean it. However most of the tables were dirty. Overall I would recommend this restaurant to anyone!

The horror campout was a blast!…read more The actors are really engaging from the moment folks start to line up. And they are far more creepy and realistic than the monsters you see in a typical haunted house. The Hell Hunt is really the draw to the whole event. Tons of fun. NOT easy! It really is important to read your dossier fully before arriving to put together all the clues and hints to help you along the course. The only aspect I didn't like was Blood Tag. But this was because of the participants. Even with goggles on, it is NOT ok to shoot people in the face, y'all! It might be helpful if the facilitators made this a rule of the game and announced it beforehand. The actors and "counselors" were just great all around. In addition to being creepy, and always staying in character, they were really helpful and genuinely wanted everyone to have a good time. For example, if they saw someone struggling, they would sort of help them along while still staying true to the game. *potential spoilers* Some favorite characters were: Sister, the doctor (meoooooow!), mothman (ULTRA creepy!), and the voodoo dancers (y'all really made me earn that shit!). One last suggestion/request - it would be cool to have a cookout, even if it's just hotdogs/veggie dogs and/or burgers or something simple like that. And coffee and bagels for breakfast would be nice (even though I didn't end up staying over, but had thought of that when I intended to). In all I had a really good time, and can't wait to do it again next year! Thanks for a great time!

The weather was cool, there were no big crowds, and the wait times for rides were only about 5-15 minutes instead of the usual 45+ minute waits you find at other parks. My granddaughter had an absolute blast, and honestly, so did we! The water park is a great addition inside Legoland, and they even have an aquarium, which was a lot of fun to explore. We spent 8 hours there, and it didn't even feel like it. Did I mention it wasn't crowded? That's a huge from me! If you're looking for a fun family day, Legoland is definitely worth a visit.
