The foot passenger terminal is smaller and quieter than its counterparts in busy ports like Portsmouth. That makes it a nicer place to wait for your ferry, with little loss in terms of facilities. The cafe is reasonably priced and offers a fairly standard range of drinks, snacks and light meals. Staff are friendly and it's easy to negotiate your way through the terminal building! Queuing proved rather hit and miss, however.
However, getting there on foot does involve a rather dismal walk across the car access and parking. The lowest point is navigating a roundabout with no crossings and less than ideal signage - because of course, you're likely to be arriving at the same time as some of the cars!
