I reached out to Dr. Yu Lee as one of her former students, for support in my application process to multiple graduate schools. Although I have never used Concierge Mental Health, I decided to write a review about how I experienced Dr. Anna Yu Les's upport during my undergraduate years and transition into graduate school. As a student of hers, I decided to ask Dr. Yu Lee to write me a letter of recommendation because I always admired her enthusiasm and creative ideas of howshe provided students with interactive curriculum and mental health support through her presence and due to the experience she gained within her professional field. When responding to my email regarding letters of recommendation, although she is very busy with her private practice and other professional matters, I appreciated the time she took out of her day to immediately respond and ask to have a phone call with me. On this phone call, she ensured with me the process in which she writes letter of recommendation letters, in a very detailed manner. I informed her of why she always stood out to me as a professor and genuine person who cares about each person she works with. I enjoyed her class and have learned so much by being given the opportunity to be a group leader of 12 peers at that time. I had never been a large group leader of adults around my age before, but I believe that her positive and supportive energy motivated me to seek each decision, such as this one, as an opportunity to grow. During her semester of teaching me, I remember her wise words, such as "always go for a no". This advice of hers was what influenced me apply for many Research labs that I currently work in at Cal Poly Pomona because I believed that the worst thing that could happen when applying for something or trying new things, is a no. It does not hurt to just try, because you may get it and will always learn from these decisions. To continue, I also admire the vulnerability she possess with her students and would imagine that she displays this within her professional work at her private practice as well. I aim to work towards being the same with those I want to connect and support and believe that it showed the passion she has for providing service, innovation, exploration, and her genuine attempts to connect with those of divergent viewpoints. I also enjoy continuing to learn from her educational and "out-of-the-box" posts through her many platforms, such as Instagram. Through this, I was able to learn about how she offers Kintsugi-making classes, Statistical Therapy Workshops or other stuff with the American Statistical Association, Japanese Somatic Treatment. I have also viewed that she provides services that have not been done before such as female cuddling and diversion-based slapping. Although many may not believe that this is psychotherapy, Dr. Yu Lee always informs them that she is not a psychotherapist, but does have a passion for areas of research science and mental health that have a lot of grey area. Personally, I find it very enlightening and influential that her practice is not afraid to explore new areas, and continues to do so in a rigorous, evidence-informed, and measured approach, constantly referring to research literature and the importance of laws, ethics, informed consent, etc. With this, Dr. Anna Yu Lee has provided me with wisdom, positivity, and motivation due to embodying these qualities through being my professor for a semester. The support she has also given me through my application process by always seeking time to have clear communication with me and provide words of encouragement during my academic journey will always leave a significant impact in my personal and academic life.
