Thank you Comrade staff!! The woman that assisted us, didn't get her name was super sweet and helpful!! The wife and I explained it was our first time and she explained the menu to us and even made suggestions. I asked about flight options in order to taste what we wanted and she helped us right away. In a flight you get a two ounce glass of each beer you want to taste and they range from $2.50-$4 to try! Tonight we tried the coffee krema beer and a couple of fall options. I really don't remember the others but the coffee was one that made the most impact on my taste buds. The coffee beer was truly like drinking an iced coffee but you get a buzz after! Totally full of flavor and I hope they keep it as an all the time option. There are plenty of seating options available including standing at a couple of bar top tables near the window. Been going here since they opened, easy parking, comfortable atmosphere and vibe and lots of room inside for get togethers. Usually drink the Superpower IPA as the flavor profile is excellent and goes down very smoothly. Love the atmosphere. It's a larger brewery with commercial garage doors that open on nice days (may have been a part of the car servicing company next door). I ordered their Koffee Kream, a milk stout with coffee and my hubby ordered Man Oar-Board, a Scotch Ale/Wee Heavy. I am definitely not disappointed. Their coffee milk stout rocks! I'm trying to talk the hubby into buying an insulated stainless growler because it just looks so cool and someday, it'll come in handy ;). The service here is great. A nice place to grab a beer... Read the reviews about the poor service, and I think some of the confusion might be because all of the service is at the bar only. With that said, poor service can be overcome by great beer, right? 1 TV in the joint probably doesn't make for good sports watching, but with only 2 people working the place it appears as though the owners thoughts are that you should be here to drink (no food service, but you can bring your own!) in other words... This is not a 'fern' bar with all the amenities. I had The Spector, a Belgian-style wheat ale that was big, cloudy, and had a hint of citrus. It was really great. Would I come back? Maybe if I was getting my oil changed across the parking lot. Definitely not if I wanted to watch a game. read more

Good fresh tasting beer. Good hangout place with friends. Yellow Card is one of my favorite at Comrades.

This the spot for chilling out. No one here including the staff is stressed in anyway. Don't expect to be seated, served food, or pressured in anyway. Everything here is at it's own pace. If you want food here go ahead and order a pizza, they don't care. The first time I came to this brewery I saw families here with some children doing homework while some played a board games. There were literally babies in carriers on the same table next to beers. It was definitely a culture shock for me but once I understood what this place was about I got into. I came back to drink and play board games with friends because why not. Scramble, monopoly, and cards vs humanity are readily available here. Enjoy those games with a DEFCON Red, Koffee Kream Stout, or better sample everything. Samples are just $2 per glass. Don't ask the server when you can easily try to see what beer you like for the cost of a corona. read more

Very friendly employee behind the bar. Patiently waited for my indecisive husband to makeup his mind. I tried the kreme koffee and the Mexican lager. Both were really good. The interior is large and they have big garage doors to open up. They have signs saying kid and dog friendly. However no puppers here during my visit. I wish they had more of a selection but overall good brewery. read more

Fun brewery themed like a mix between the Soviet Union and beer. I was really looking forward to trying their "Quit Stalin" Imperial Stout. Sadly they had tapped out and I had to drop my rating a star. I feel like a Soviet themed brewery has to be tapping a Russian Imperial at all times, but I guess its only a seasonal brew. I stopped into Comrade a few months ago but did not get a chance to leave a review until now. My buddies and I talked to the owner and were allowed to host our fantasy football draft at the brewery. This place is amazing, they have a great selection of interesting and delicious brews, with my favorites probably being the Make IPA Clear Again and the Jalapeno Mexican Lager. The vibe is extremely chill, lots of people just hanging out, drinking good brews, playing games, and enjoying food they brought from outside. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I dig the Communist-themed décor, some people might be thrown off by it but I think they're reading into things too much. I give the owner credit for trying something different with the theme of the place, versus the billion other breweries around Colorado. This place is one of the reasons I can't wait to return to Denver in the near future. read more

In a town inundated with breweries, the majority I have been to are just about the same. Same style, same beers, some decor, same staff. Same blatant money-making venture. Enter Comrade. I'd been meaning to come in for some time, as I used to work nearby. When the company moved, so did I, and I lost the opportunity. Finally had a chance to come in, took it up. I'd had a couple of their beers before, as an old friend had some, and when you are offered free beer, you damn well better accept that offer. I don't know. The beer was decent, but nothing spectacular. The staff was unsmiling and just stood there looking at you without a greeting or anything. Waiting for your order. Waiting...waiting...waiting for me to order? Disappear? Get out of their sight so they could go back to chatting with their friends? I don't know. They obviously spent a load of money on this place. TVs, fancy bar, tons of swag to purchase. But when push comes to shove, the beer was just average. Nothing stood out at all, nothing to draw me back in. read more

The very first time my husband and I visited Comrade we weren't sure what to expect. Then we ended up staying for 2 hours, drinking great beer and playing some super fun games (BattleShip, Uno, Cards Against Humanity, etc...). We've since been back a handful of times all because of their Coffee Kreme Extra stout. It. Is. Amazing! We've visited quite a few breweries looking for coffee stouts that match the quality of Comrade's brew and nothing else compares! This is by far our favorite brewery in the Denver area. read more

This is hard to make sufficiently strongly worded. I've been fortunate enough to travel much of the world, and this is one of (if not THE) best brewery I've ever seen for IPAs. Their beers typically consist of a mix of IPA (Single, Session, Brut, DDH and occasionally a Wet-Hopped) as well as a healthy amount of Gose options and a blonde, red, and coffee milk stout for people that don't like the bitterness of an IPA. The theme is a play off the Soviet sickle and hammer, hence the name, and it's pretty cool how they've artistically played into that with a hop based sickle and a wheat based hammer in their logo. They regularly have a food truck outside during lunch and evening hours, rotating schedule is on their website, if Goldie's Burgers is there, get a "Golden standard" (a burger with potato chips and House sauce on it....sweet god). If they have a beer called "Superdamp" while your there, get it. It's weird and awesome haha. If they don't, and you like IPAs, start with the classic flagship beer: "Superpower". Prices are a steal for the quality, and frankly, low in general for the proximity to Denver. Colorado is one of the beer pilgrimage spots of the world, and for people that like IPAs this is my number one recommendation for people that come to visit me. My only regret is that with so many breweries to try in Denver and The Springs, it took me years to find this place... don't make the same mistake. Go.... now. read more

Been here a few times. Last time I was in there was VERY little variety on the menu - almost all IPAs - which are popular, I get it. However, you've got to have a little variety in my opinion! Also, the music hasn't been good any of the times I've been in. I visited numerous breweries/tap rooms in Denver and I think Comrade was my favorite. A few things go into this: 1. Very good beer. Obviously this is important. 2. Good atmosphere. The seating area is spacious, the bar area is laid out nicely, and the music was a good volume/mix. 3. Location is very close to the Cherry Creek Trail. If I lived in the area I'd probably bike the trail a lot. If I biked the trail a lot, I'd stop here a lot. Like every time. 4. Food trucks on site. The day I was there they had free samples. SOLID beers. I personally dig the industrial feel and the idea that there is cool stuff happening around the brewery. i.e. some hot rodded cars, the sound of an air impact brapping off a lug nut, loud pipes, you know, guy shit. So many of the new breweries are in blasé strip malls, or hidden in the back of a maze of industrial with no signs of life type warehouse areas. Dangerous... a brewery opening one block away from my work...Yikes! I stopped in Comrade on a whim for lunch a week after they opened and was delighted to see they were open at 12. Albeit no one was in there yet, I still sidled up to the bar and enjoyed me a sampler of all their beers. I found each was very good and balanced, nothing stood out as spectacular, but I can see them becoming a prominent fixture in the Denver beer scene. The place itself is tucked back off Illif behind the Sonic and in the midst of a couple auto shops. Large, comfortable and laid back would be how I describe the ambiance inside. Both the owner and the bartender chatted me up a little and seemed to be friendly and knowledgeable. I'd recommend going and I'm certain to be a regular so see ya there! read more

Pretty good. Some pluses and some minuses. Overall, not bad. I really like that there is a ton of space in the tap room. They have high tops and low tops, space for standing or sitting at the bar, and a nice open ceiling. This is a good thing because it was pretty packed when I stopped by. I wish I could say all the beer is good but I only had one. Why you ask? Because they were out of a ton of brews when I visited on a Saturday. All they had was a bunch of IPAs - great if you like them but not if you're like me and prefer something that isn't hoppy. I ended up having a decent red ale (because that was all they had left). One thing that was cool was the TV screen beer list. It's always nice to see what's on tap and they can change it up everyday. If there had been more options (on a Saturday) then I might have been tempted to give another star. For now, I stand firm at 3. read more

Weird that this feels hipster in the edge of Aurora, steps away from he infamous beaver damned bar. I am pretty happy this place happened. Its a real brewery to rival any brewery in Denver, the looks are great, communal tables, games, people with takeout and even a child or two. I had 2 pints. One was the Hefeweizen and the other was a wheat beer. Hefeweizen was good, and the Specter, the wheat beer, is a wowzer, its brewed with coriander and orange. The flavor rolls out and is like a meal in your mouth, I love when wine and beers have the wonka gum effect, a before during and end taste. I think that is beer art at its finest. We got a flight, but they call them tasters. I usually do not like stouts or IPA's, as I am not a fan of the punch of bitter flavor and I was blown away. We had two stouts, one was a coffee stout... it tasted exactly like coffee beer! I know that sounds yuck, but somehow it is delicious and delightful. The other stoutish beer, Leroy, is so smooth and flavorful I just loved it. Creamy and yummy, if handmade chocolate had a beer cousin it would be this. The most surprising of the experience was the IPA. I usually cannot stand pale ales, but this was a smooth experience with no bitter flavor. It was yummy, fruity and smooth. From the moment I stepped into Comrade for a beer last week, no staff members ever smiled at me or anyone in my party and only did the minimum to do their job. I didn't care for the cafeteria style ordering, but even if they don't have table service, they should at least have a staff member come by the tables right away to pick up your trays. We were playing a card game, and since we had about three trays that no one from the staff had picked up, we put them to the side (leaned them on the floor by a support pole). When a staff member did finally happen to walk by and notice the trays, we made a comment to her with a smile like, "oh, there's not enough room and we didn't know where to put the trays" and she remarked back sarcastically, "Yeah, I don't want people to trip". A) I didn't appreciate the sarcasm and B) No one was going to trip over the trays (they were in between three tables where no one was walking by). Everyone I was with enjoyed their beers okay (not the best, but not the worst), but that was not enough for me to ever come back. This was stop #1 on a recent tour of breweries in the area. I had this place bookmarked for awhile, as I really wanted to try the much raved about Koffee Kream Stout, and while it was good, it was not as good as I wanted it to be. I couldn't even bring myself to want a full pint of it- there was just something about it that was too much for me, though I did enjoy it. I also really liked their DefCon Red. Their seasonal Oatmeal Stout was quite tasty though I found 2 of their other seasonals to be virtually undrinkable: Yank Tank and Autumn Ale; of the 4 of us in our group, none of us could bring ourselves to even finish the tasters of these. My husband loves their Superpower IPA, which tells me that I would come here again just for the fact that they obviously do their year round beers well- the rest may be questionable. Typical brewery space in a commercial strip center. Bartenders didn't have much personality for anyone but the regulars. Decor felt cold and slightly unwelcoming. I would come here again, but it won't be somewhere I'm running back to soon. read more

My bf and I were really excited to come here and it did live up to our expectations. We walked up to the bar and put in our orders to the bartender. They had their menu up on a LCD screen too. Koffee Kream Stout (Milk Stout) ABV:4.4% Milk stout with coffee. We are the first Colorado brewery to use coffee from Kaladi Coffee Roasters custom roasted just for Comrade. Pours pitch black, but don't let that fool you, this beer has a massive coffee aroma yet full-bodied and sweet. A great beer to start off the morning with. Superpower IPA (American IPA) ABV:7.5% American IPA with loads of pacific northwest hops. Huge pine and grapefruit hop aroma, with flavors of citrus, balanced bitterness with a light malt character. WOW! We were both SUPER impressed by these brews, was also pleasantly surprised to find out that the Koffee Kream Stout used Kaladi's coffee! We had just come from eating breakfast at Kaladi's and loved their coffee. What a great collaboration, I hope they continue collaborating! We could taste the coffee and dark chocolate taste in this stout without any dark fruit flavors that we have come to not prefer in our stouts. We also really enjoyed the crisp and refreshing citrusy aromatic hop flavors in the Superpower IPA too. We liked both beers so much we couldn't decide which was better. But my bf ended up drinking most of the stout since he prefers stouts and I drinking most of the IPA since I prefer IPAs. This place is also very dog-friendly. Later we realized we should have have looked/asked and gotten smaller size glasses as the regular glass was a bit too much us beer newbs. This is a cool place with a seating area that can get noisy with everyone sitting around enjoying beers and a walk up, tasting area that is partially separated so the noise level is lower and you can talk to the employees about beer, life and stickers. They allow dogs in the sitting area which is great if you like taking your 4-legged friends with you when you're out of the house. There is no food service and not really a place for a food truck on the property as this brewery is in a strip mall, but they have no problem with you ordering food to be delivered here. We had sushi while searching for truth at the bottom of pint glasses. They also had soviet-style art for sale on the walls. Some of the pieces are pretty cool but prepare to pay a pretty penny as these are not cheap. The beer, however, is reasonably priced and on point. Everything I tried was smooth and flavorful. A cool spot with good vibes and definitely worth a try. Don't forget to buy a t-shirt and show pride in the motherland....of hops and wheat. read more

This has become a neighborhood go-to for an afternoon outing or a quick beer. Tonite we played Battleship and there is a deck of cards and box of Monopoly floating around. These guys keep managing to get better each time I try their beer. One of the things I loved was, around GABF, they had the same IPA but in different forms - wet hopped, dry hopped, GABF barrel, and hops from Oregon. It was mind blowing to get all of these and compare how different the tastes were of the same beer just based on the hops they used. But Comrade does stuff like this and they are always pushing the limits and they come out with some really excellent beers. I still love Yellow Fever but I think their coffee is one of the best but, being an IPA drinker, it's hard not to rank them up there with the best. read more

I really liked Comrade, but at the same time I was hoping for so much more. Their coffee stout was really delicious, and their Hefeweisen (seasonal/"visiting brass") is pretty darn tasty. They allow dogs (always a plus in my book) and are pretty close to my new apartment. That being said, I wanted SO much more from their utilitarian theme. If you're going to go down the path of using the old Soviet Union as your inspiration, really go for it!! I do love that their logo is a riff on the Communist flag, and I like the name themes of the beers. But put some old Communist propaganda in the walls! Play old Russian military war songs or something - the music playing (current alternative/punk rock) just seemed to clash so badly. I did enjoy my beer, but I'm not sure this is a place I really want to hang out at often. I'll try and go again on a busier night, and see if the vibe is different enough that I won't feel the need for an over-the-too brewery atmosphere. I'll give it another go down the road... read more

I came on a Saturday afternoon with a small group of friends. A couple had a beer passport that outlined Comrade participated with specials and so we thought we'd try it out. Their website was very helpful in listing all beer options available, so we could ensure there was something we would all like, before heading over. Location is very easy to find and parking is ample. The seating area is large and there are two ordering counters. They're another brewery that suggests you order-in/bring your own food, and Sonic servers will even roll your order over. There's free WIFI with the password listed on a little menu. The beer choices we went for were all enjoyed. I had the Comrade Bashleigh (wheat choice) and it was enjoyed, though I'm not really a beer fan. It had little aftertaste, which was a selling point for me. And served cold. The Yellow Card had more of a bite if you're looking for flavour. Pricing is reasonable ($4-5) and you have a selection of sizes to choose from (growlers, tasters, pints, etc). They didn't offer the Passport deal (free flight of three) even though they stamped the booklet and so we're not sure if it's offered anymore. Overall, our visit was ok. There was no service to speak of even though there were only two other tables occupied and two employees were tootling around. I would have liked to hear more about their products/story or received more assistance as our table was quickly filled with glasses and never cleared. read more
