I give my personal experience a 5/5 because of the love I have for the University and what I've gained from my time as a student so far. But this review does include criticisms and acknowledgements of what I think highschool seniors thinking about WSU should evaluate for themselves. Here's my run-down of WSU: (4/5)Dorms: DO YOUR RESEARCH! Some dorms (Rogers, Streit-Perham and Stephenson) are all freshman dorms and will likely be a toss up: either the best or worst depending on your personality. They are cheaper and have a more fun atmosphere, but theft and mischief are real.Honestly, I recommend the male only and female only halls. Medium community and medium quality. The newer halls are great quality, usually poor community. Rich kids, mostly. (3/5)Food: Not bad. Could be better. Find your favorites and just eat them. Fill the gaps with Walmart food. (4.5/5)Facilities: Clean, state of the art, in most places. All of the main building are pretty great! I spend a lot of time studying on campus and have 10+ options of places to go. The Rec (gym is amazing! Make sure to go!) I've always liked mine, but some of the science buildings are older. (4.5/5)Education: Mine was great (I am in the com and bus colleges). Professors are all pretty wonderful, with a few exceptions. But some peoples' educations were just okay. I would go into more detail but I don't know enough about the other colleges at the University. One negative is that 90% of my classes have been lectures of 100 or more people. (5/5)Transportation: ACTUALLY AMAZING. Learn the bus schedule and use it. Sometimes it can be a bit of a longer wait or packed on the bus. But it's easy to get around most of the time. (4/5)WSU Community: pretty great, depending on your personality. It gets wild in a few areas. I do not recommend Greek Row at night for more reserved folks, but you'll always be safe. The Greek system can get pretty annoying and pervasive. You'll see Greek letters everywhere, but you get used to it and you don't need to join a frat or sorority to make friends. But if you hate everything about the Greek system and don't want to be around it, you'll have a hard time. It's not hard to make friends and loads of clubs to join. If you try to find friends, you will usually be able to make them. Everyone is fairly nice. The type of people who you can ask for directions or get random compliments from. Football season can be crazy, so traveling around the stadium is gonna be difficult. It's not for everyone, but 85% of people who go here wanting to like WSU, probably will. (3.5/5)Pullman: A good, solid college town. Cheap, small and friendly. The locals are great and put up with a lot of student bullshit. You do get your four seasons. But I hope you like amazon, because you can't shop a lot in the city, including clothing! It's certainly livable, but not a big city. If you're in a major that requires internships, that's something to keep in mind because you will likely have to move and try to get credits for a big internship.

Daggy Hall is home to the Wadleigh and Jones Theatres, along with the theater and the speech and…read morehearing departments. STAGE, the student theater production group, also calls Daggy home! Wadleigh is a small theatre that I estimate to seat about 150 (but don't quote me on that!). Most of the shows I've seen in Wadleigh have been the WSU Nuthouse Improv Comedy shows. The layout allows for an interactive, intimate show. The Jones Theatre has more of a stage-audience distinction. This one seats about 400 comfortably. What's nice is that the aisles are wide enough that you aren't mugging the person you are attempting to pass. The shows I've seen in this theatre are more plays and music concerts. I actually recently saw Baxter Black there. A cowboy poet with humor who led a very conversational and congenial performance! Daggy's a neat building though. In the afternoons you can often hear the STAGE people messing around and it's pretty fun to listen to!

What truly stands out, though, is the kindness and support of the staff. They go above and beyond to make students feel included and valued. We visited this campus in November and again in March for the Ubound new student event. The campus…read moreis gorgeous. It is very clean and everybody is super friendly. Over the two weekend visits we were able to tour one dorm, almost all the sororities, various classrooms, many buildings, including the library, cafeteria, student union, Kibbe Dome, student store, and Bruce M Pittman Center. For any prospective student. I highly recommend going to a small organized tour of the campus that they hold at various times during the year. We were able to do a tour back in November. It was very helpful and very organized. We also pre-scheduled a meeting with the department head for the major my daughter is interested in. This was really helpful because she had a sit down meeting for about an hour to discuss her perspective major, and how it would fit for her. Also, we were able to tour the whole campus, eat in the student union, shop at the student store, and see a dorm room. The Ubound event is a much bigger event. It is designed for students that are accepted to the university and are still making a decision and or finalizing details of enrollment. There is not possibly enough time to see everything during the Ubound event. Although it was organized, it seemed much more chaotic with overlapping timeslots for many events. You had to really pick and choose what you wanted to see and do within the small timeframe of a few hours on a Friday and then a few hours on a Saturday. We focused on the tours of the sororities, which took the most time. We only had limited time to walk through the social club fair with all the tables. This was one of my favorite parts because they were giving out a lot of swag and giving great logo stickers almost everywhere we went. We missed out on about 50% of the tables that we really wanted to see due to time constraints. Unfortunately, everything closed down midday on Saturday. Fortunately, we did all of the business stuff and that was super helpful. The room called taking care of business was the most helpful with tables set up with financial aid, administration, health, food, housing, Greek life, etc. There are so many questions to ask. U of I makes it very helpful to hold these information sessions. I just wish they spread them out over a full day and a half so we could've done everything . With the time it takes to travel and the cost of staying overnight, it's just not feasible to come to the campus too many times to gather all the information needed before the first day of school.

This school is starting to accept way more people than they can house. Freshman year was my only…read moreguaranteed housing, and other students were sent to live in a hotel. I had to live off campus for my second year, and when I tried to live on campus again for my third year, they could only put me in a bought out motel (not on campus at all). I have no seniority at all which is unfair. The school is buying motels and racking up prices in the area because they are accepting way too many students.
