Situated alongside Upper Street, just out of Highbury and Islington Tube, it's surprisingly easy to miss these gardens. Though there's only a bit of hedge and/or railings to separate them, it's easy to forget the busy traffic whizzing by.
Instead you get a very pleasant strip of gardens. It's largely pretty simple and relaxed. Some parts tend towards natural, most are more traditional park, with nice trees and some pleasant lawns. There's also some well tended flower beds (though I don't know why they are shaped as anchors, maybe someone just felt that would look good).
Compton Terrace itself is two rows of villas built in the early 1800's flanking a Union Chapel.
Not stunning, but a nice convenient place to eat your lunch if you are in the area. read more
