I was recently in need of a quiet respite from the hustle and bustle of London during the 2012 Olympic Games and luckily, a quick online search provided me with a solution. Located about a 10 minute walk from the Bermondsey tube station, Southwark Park offers lush green grass for picnicking and general rolling around, along with running paths, gazebos and several other amenities. I had gone there to do some reading so I didn't really explore the park. I was however pleasantly surprised by how quiet it really was even though I sat down near the gated entrance by the street. There were quiet a few families there, people with pets, runners, cyclists, etc.
Southwark Park is definitely worth visiting and exploring, whether with family and friends or solo. read more
