It resides on the outskirts of the city of Compton, Los Angeles, bordering on the northside of Long Beach. It definitely needs some clean up in places and better functionality for safety especially exiting and boarding the platform for the light rail metro. I did notice that there wasn't as much light as the sun set in the parking lot area which is also part of their bus bay depot for lots of connections including one I took more inland down Artesia Blvd. Not a ton of signs and postings for route like you'd hope they'd have to make navigating easy, except for a small few on the platform. The Compton Station is only one away and it's super decked out compared to Artesia. Their Metro tap platforms and metro kiosk don't exist at this station, which I've never seen before. I don't know if they did at one point, but it does mean you can board here without a cost, but should still have a validated physical or digital card (via the Tap app) on your person in case of inspection - you can purchase and reload cards in the app or at local convenience places such as 7-Eleven and CVS to name a few. Some connecting services run more frequently than others so I'd recommend mapping your trip out in advance or having apps handy. Security was around and available as well as keeping an open watch. There was a man on the tracks at one point which they kindly asked him to relocate as this is a crime and he could go to jail as well as be injured... He decided to flip them off and go about his way O.o, and they're just trying to do their job and keep him and others safe. Welcome to Artesia Station. One thing I did appreciate about this station aside from security and the friendly bus drivers and seating in places I didn't expect were the art piece and messages from children displayed throughout the pillars of the platform. Very heartfelt. Very mindful. #LoveForArtandHeartinCompton

It could use more lighting even more so given the location (honestly, this whole area is shady!)…read moreBut the few times I've done pickups at this station was pretty smooth. Haven't had any problems yet, and I didn't hear a lot of complaints from passengers I swooped up. But that's all based on no more than a few minutes' worth of waiting for all those times I did come through. But investing in maybe solar powered lighting to brighten it up a little might be a good one...

Compton Renaissance Transit - A COW bus

Great bus service in the City of Cerritos…read more The "COW" has multiple buses that circle the city. Great for getting to either of the Cerritos malls (Los Cerritos or Towne Center), a park, the senior center or to the library at the civic center. Fifty cents will get you anywhere and you'll always have a comfortable place to sit as they rarely get crowded. I find the bus drivers to be very friendly and personable - they give up a smile very easily - and from my experience they make safety a priority. Timetables and routes are available on the city's website (cerritos.us) or you can pick up a copy at city hall.

The buses were recently upgraded to the one you see in the picture via federal grant monies. The buses run on natural gas, so they offer a more environmentally friendly form of public transit. The fare for a single trip anywhere in Cerritos is $0.50. The buses also offer monthly passes for $20.00. They have essentially two routes going in opposite loops around the city (meeting at the Cerritos Civic Center). From one end of town to the other end, say from CPE to the Cerritos mall, roughly takes almost an hour. So, if you have the patience, or don't have a car of your own, be prepared for a 45-1 hour commute. In the meantime, you'll be able to view Cerritos from a different perspective: sideways! The design of the rear of the buses are stylistic representations of various sites and landmarks of Cerritos. One may have a stylized image of the Cerritos Library, for example. Another may have one of the Cerritos Performing Arts Center. These are ways to keep track of the actual buses that you may have sat in, as there are about 8 total buses running around town. The only downside is that the buses don't run very late (after 9pm). But in all other respects, these buses run well and have pretty cool air conditioning (a must in hot and muggy summers).

LYNWOOD PARK MUTUAL WATER CRIMINALS!!!…read more Lynwood Park Mutual Water Company is incompetent, shady and an all around sh*tty business supplying water, however poorly, to the Compton community. This company supplies my water and has been a pain since we moved in. 1) They have NO WEBSITE or app to be able to pay your bill online. YOU HAVE TO PHYSICALLY GO INTO THE BUILDING TO PAY OR SEND A PAPER CHECK, it's 2018! Who the hell is using paper or mail or physical interaction to pay bills anymore. It's HORRIBLY inneficient. 2) THERE IS NO VOICEMAIL!!! You call the number and no one ever picks up, and they have NO voicemail system to even be able to contact them. 3) There is no emergency number or any way to contact anyone in the event of an imperative need. 4) THEY ARE ONLY OPEN THREE FRIGGIN DAYS A WEEK. Like are you F'ing kidding me. How the hell are you a major utility provider and not accessible to your customers more than half the week! 5) Their office facility is a converted residential HOUSE. How unprofessional!? It really destroys any shred of confidence that I had that this was a legitimate, competent business. 6) ...not to mention the random water shut offs without warning, communication, apology or rectification. This has got to be the most ridiculous utility company set-up I have ever seen. It is a constant burden to have to deal with and is unacceptable. I will not stand for myself or our neighbors to be subjected to this kind of incompetent, greedy treatment. We all deserve better. I am looking for suggestions, shared experiences and conversations about this problem. We will start taking action to correct this travesty on a city, county and state level, whatever it takes We will not stand for this crap.

Monday through Friday the train runs on schedule. Expect to wait about 12 minutes in between stops. Compared to the rest of Asia such as Seoul, Hong Kong, and Tokyo, the trains in terms of comfort, speed, and reliability are stuck in 1989. Most recently due to Metro's attempt to update their railways and cars, most construction is done on the weekends. So expect delays or to not even arrive to your destination without taking a couple of buses. Despite the issues, I still ride the train, because I have a nostalgia for trains as they remind me of Hong Kong and Seoul and it beats paying for parking. Pros: 1. $1.75 to travel anywhere from long Beach to Downtown Los Angeles. 2. You don't have to drive. 3. Able to bring your bicycle. 4. 55mins to get to Downtown Los Angeles and 20min to Downtown Long Beach. 5. You're able to park your car at the station for free. I've had no incidence yet. Cons: 1. Stops are frequently off schedule. 2. Stations are located in inconvenient locations. 3. Not so clean. 4. Trains are slower than expected for the most prosperous state in the country with a high population in LA County. 5. Trains break down frequently. Happy riding!

"Ah-ha, hush that fuss…read more Everybody move to the back of the bus Do you wanna bump and slump wit' us? We the type of people make the club get crunk!" Willowbrook / Rosa Parks Station is nostalgic to me time infinity. This LA Metro station was the first I ever visited back in the early 90s, riding with my brother and our aunts or dad - learning more about public transportation and the south side of Los Angeles. Growing up in South Central LA from 1985 to 1997 the Green and Blue line were ones we knew. Mainly for short trips, we got to see the 105 be constructed and the Avalon Station (just before Willowbrook/Rosa Parks) follow a couple years after. Growing up within walking distance of Avalon and a one stop ride to Willowbrook/Rosa Parks anytime I pass this Metro Blue A Line station that connects to the Metro Green C line I flashback to those 90s vibes. The Kenneth Hahn Plaza very nearby was a plaza we frequented - the McDonald's, Denny's and everything that was once there. I have been a few times in the last few years for various reasons and explored the old neighborhoods. There is parking lot for commuters - over 200 spaces and unlike some station it's free - though super generified it's still South Central - security, police station and metro employees on duty and all in one place. And like the Metro slogan goes, "If you see something, say something." Elevators and escalators to connect you to the Green above along the 105 freeway. Ride green. Ride smart. Ride safe.

The A line is light-rail, using rail-lines at ground level, while the C line is elevated, following the path of I-105. There are working escalators going up (haphazard in terms of if running or not), and there are large elevators for folks that need it.. Note that the green line have similar cars, in that there are no easy place to put your large luggage.
