He was never rough and he did the things to make shots not painful. His work areas were clean and clutter free and he actively monitored all that. He is competent, skilled, sharp, reasonable, and he's undistracted. I called him after-hours once and he was there for me, answered fast, "easy stuff" he said. He gave me a very nice, thick blanket in the chair that I appreciated. He heard my questions, investigated, considered and discussed things with me. He's a very smart fellow, yet he didn't seem to mind explaining, or repeating. He did not allow his staff to stand behind me and speak to him while we were talking. He was fair with his billing also seemed to be personally involved because adjustments were made after my visit and I didn't have to chase a correction. Each of the surgeries I had with him were successful, they were easy for me, I was comfortable, healed fast and am happy with the outcome of each. Dr Chicola is a great oral surgeon and he's easy to work with. Good luck with your search...Methinks this is a great one.

I was to owe $50 for my deductible and that was it. Now, well after the fact and with insurance involved, I am being told I owe more. In fact, I have received more than one letter outlining different amounts that might be due. One dated 1-12-26 says "Please pay $2,335.00 by 2-2-26". Another dated 1-20-26 claims I owe $625.00 due immediately. The fact of the matter is, I likely owe nothing, but I needed to get someone from their office to justify to the insurance company why the surgical codes billed were necessary. Such as simple ask, where the answer gets the office paid, and gets me out of the discussion. Win win. But no. It was already unpleasant to receive letters stating that I should provide "immediate attention" to the situation, but even more so when I had to leave a message twice (three days apart) to get someone in the office to respond. Definitely not "immediate". Don't expect me to act "immediately" if your team cannot act immediately. Prior to calling the office, I called my insurance to see what they would say is the issue. The issue is, the office billed for surgical codes and procedures, yet provided no notes to justify why the surgery was needed (as opposed to a simple extraction). When the office representative called me back, she was very short and unsympathetic to my situation. She basically told me it was my problem, and that all the paperwork I received prior said "estimate" so it is what it is. She said your office does not submit "notes" and only submits an x-ray. She told me the x-ray is enough to which I stated it obviously is not.....as here we are. I asked if there was any way to get the justification over to the insurance, and was told perhaps if they wanted to send something....but your rep was not willing to do anything to help facilitate the reconciliation or to make that happen. It is unfortunate, after having trusted your office to help me navigate this journey, that she could be so unwilling to assist or to help provide for some type of mutually agreeable solution. I shared my feelings also about being in the middle between their office and the insurance company trying to mediate but that was of little concern as well. I contacted my insurance again, and ultimately was told that they would pay the claim out, but they do need some type of surgical notes or explanation as to why my teeth had to be surgically removed as opposed to a standard extraction. They provided the attached EOB, and said I could write back with my own narrative as to why the teeth needed to be surgically removed......but I am not sure I am qualified or would provide what they need to justify the charge/procedure. I tried to call the office back, and to speak with someone else to simply see if anyone could help in providing a simple justification statement outlining why surgical removal was necessary. I think this is a simple request to a simple issue, and again hate that a staff member with less than stellar customer service skills felt it appropriate to dump a $625 bill in my lap, instead of working with me to resolve the matter (for all involved). At the time of this review, the issue remains unresolved, and I await a response from the office to see if they will provide me with the justification my insurance seeks in order to pay the claim.

I pay 29$ for the appointment. Then I have to wait 36 minutes to be taken back. Then after a few x-rays, they make me wait until 5:46 when I finally got up and just saw all of them standing there laughing. They say that I'm still waiting on the hygienist. Someone says "maybe the Dentist can go in first" instead of him saying anything, and he doesn't even look at me and smiles nervously and walks away with the others like a little kid to go look at something. It's not the patients problem that there is one hygienist, don't let me make an appointment if the only hygienist has to work on 5 people. Take away the time-slot. It's disrespectful to my time to not just reschedule me or let me know that I'd be waiting 2 hours and they aren't even giving me a cleaning. Charging back the 29$ doesn't even feel good, I wish I could take more back for sitting there for two hours doing nothing. They wipe their ass with appointments. Just walk in. They only have one hygienist at the dentist good luck.

I was in horrible pain and called several dentists, who listed emergency appointments on their website. Dr. Dunavant Jr DDS called me the next morning. I had gone to Walmart and bought a tool to remove the piece which was wedged, hydrogen peroxide, and Oral gel with an antibiotic, which took care of the pain and swollen gums. He was so nice and compassionate on the phone, and although it was New Year's Eve, he told me to call if I had any further problems. If I lived nearby, I would certainly want to go to him.

My dentist, who also does total implants , felt only 2 were necessary. This decision was made at last minute. He called my dentist and he went along with this decision. Obviously I was charged additonal monies for this work . But what was really upsetting was that Dr. Scheuffler did not feel it was necessary to tell me that my other dentist would also be charging me an additonal substantial amount of money. If I had known that his decision would end up costing me over $ 3000.00, I would have just gone with the two and had a larger bridge put in( as I had an even larger bridger previously that lasted 20 years!). Also, one of his women staffer was definitely not someone I would let deal with me again. Horrible person. Make sure that the entire cost of any procedure is written up , not only for his work, but they also need to advise you of possible other expenses. Well, they got their money and I ended up being stuck with a lot of (which I felt was not 100% necessary for the money involved). To say i was upset over this experience is putting it mildly. My husband is a friend of Dr. Felder's and we were chatting one day at a ball game. My husband had told the doctor what my dentist had suggested. Dr. Felder suggested that I come by his office for a free consultation. I was still wary, but I made the appointment. Dr. Felder confirmed the diagnosis and offered to perform the root canal right then. I agreed. He had very gentle hands, finished the procedure in an hour, and did it to perfection. No high spots. No pain. And this was a wisdom tooth with a crown! I figure he walks on water.
