And she does that through food and hand-picked dishes that you will never uncover without a guide. Even though locations may change per tour, our group tasted a mix of cultures and got some stories behind the dishes, the restaurants, and their owners. Few examples - * Russian cuisine - Herring with a pickled onion on fresh bread * Indian street food - I was surprised how much I enjoyed this vegan street snack - I would have never ordered anything without meat, and I dislike spinach, but the fried spinach snack was mind-blowingly good. * Mexican - Quesadilla with plantain. Again, no meat but it was soooooo good. * Chinese - Glazed Pork and pork-filled bun I won't spoil the surprise for some of the other locations. And more, and more - Total of about 7-8 places. You won't stay hungry, guaranteed. The walk itself is not challenging; there are no hills to overcome, even though it's San Francisco. Don't wait - Just go!

well. fed. - Our wedding dessert table (cakes by Alicia of well. fed.)

My wife and I had well. fed. cater desserts at our January 2015 wedding. Alicia was very easy to…read morecoordinate with, and was able to suggest some ideas based on our input. We decided to go with a cupcake arrangement, and they were a big hit at our wedding! We chose Alicia because we wanted vegan food, and because we needed more guidance as to flavor ideas than we had gotten from other providers we'd contacted. Additionally, Alicia was able to handle drop-off and arranging a display, whereas other dessert options would require pickup. I was really happy to learn that Alicia sources cocoa according to Food Empowerment Project's recommendations to avoid slavery in the chocolate trade. I'm grateful that Alicia was aware of this issue, and that it is important to her as well. I anticipated that this constraint would require some negotiation and explanation, but it was completely painless. (For comparison, other businesses we contacted did not respond to our questions about whether this would be possible.) Working with Alicia was a pleasure, and her cupcakes were a huge hit at our wedding. The wedding was an expression of who we are as a couple, and the values we share. Alicia's cupcakes fit perfectly with our ideals -- delicious food that reflects a commitment to treating humans and animals alike with respect. Granted, that's a lot to read into cupcakes, but we really enjoyed them, as well as working with Alicia! Highly recommended!

We hired Alicia Smiley of well. fed. to create our wedding cakes. I had heard of Alicia's awesome…read morevegan baking skills through word of mouth, and our caterers also recommended her. She ended up baking several cakes for us in two delicious flavors: a triple citrus buttercream cake filled with orange, lemon, and lime curd, and a Brooklyn Blackout cake accented with raspberry coulis and fresh raspberries. Her execution was absolutely beautiful, and even more delectable. Her aquafaba buttercream is rich, fluffy, and not too sweet...the perfect melt-in-your-mouth combination (and I'm not even usually a fan of buttercream). Thanks, Alicia! She offered a very reasonably priced tasting, and payment for the final product was easy (50% upfront, 50% upon delivery). On the morning of the wedding, Alicia came on site to set up the desserts--we provided assorted cake stands, flowers, and succulents that she arranged charmingly. She is very warm, friendly, and a pleasure to interact with. The only minor drawback during our experience was that we ended up with lots of leftover cake (3+ of the 8 small cakes we had ordered). I had a hunch that we should order 6 cakes instead of 8 based on our guest count, and expressed this to her, but ultimately went with her higher estimate since we trusted her expertise. Don't get me wrong--it's a yummy problem to have (and better than not having enough), but still a somewhat costly one for our modest budget. I would still highly recommend working with Alicia, especially if you have a good idea of what flavors you like. You can try out some of her many creations at Very Vegan Sundays at SoMa StrEat Food Park, the Butcher's Son in Berkeley, and other various pop-ups around the Bay area (and drool over them on her Instagram feed).

All the mental health treatment I was going through just wasn't enough. I learned by working with Ajinder the significance of gut health, daily hydration, exercise, meditation, sleep hygiene and even cycle syncing. Before working with her, I would have prided myself in most of those aspects and my knowledge of them, but she helped me put the pieces together to help them make sense and actually work together. Most importantly, she did it all in a manner that made me stick to these habits. Now, nearly 4 months since my last session, I can proudly say I've kept up with all my goals. I wish I could shout from the rooftops how amazing this woman is! It's also worth mentioning that i live on the opposite side of the country as her so for anyone hesitant to do virtual or phone visits, she made it work, even with the time difference. I am so glad I took the leap and did this for myself because it was the foundation I so desperately needed to build my new "me".

We stayed 10-15 minutes past what their policy stated a couple times (not on purpose) bc it's really hard to corral small kids out of the pool and to get dressed especially when you can't enter the bathrooms with them bc they are the opposite sex. The smarmy manager was constantly watching our movements, i felt hounded by all the monitoring.. It felt was very stressful and unwelcoming. Management was also cowardly and Instead of sending reminders of policies themselves, management has their instructors do their dirty work. Our lessons got cancelled without any warning. I think we didn't fit their aesthetics so they were looking for a reason to remove us. Very inhospitable, snobby, horrible communication, and passive aggressive.

She used to play tennis growing up and is picking it back up again, but mainly, she joined this club so she could take her girls (my two nieces) to the pool. On my last visit to Oakland, I went with them and had a lot of fun. This is a great club. This club is aptly named because it's located up in the hills and has tremendous, scenic views of the pristine, undeveloped hills towards the city of Orinda and the town of Moraga. There are great views from the pool area and even better views from the patio. It's beautiful. We visited on a Wednesday afternoon in June. Since school was out, there were a lot of kids at the pool (and a lot of adults too). There were at least two life guards and the majority of the pool was being used by coaches/instructors for laps and swim instruction. One lane was used for recreational swimming (that's where my family mostly swam) and one portion of the pool was used for diving. Kids lined up to dive off the diving board under staff supervision. There was a second, smaller pool, but it was closed. I'm not sure why. It looked perfectly swimmable. There were two hot tubs - one closer to the clubhouse and one on the other side of the pools closer to the patio and the amazing view. The pools and hot tubs were in excellent condition. They looked super clean and immaculate despite so many people using them. The hot tub near the patio was packed, mostly with kids. There was also a splash pad. Around the pool was plenty of seating and a variety of seating options including cabana-style "huts," picnic tables, poolside recliners and loungers, and regular tables and chairs with umbrellas. There was also a flat, open grassy area in between the pools and the patio. The clubhouse has a healthy refreshment bar. Orders are automatically charged to your membership account. The bar offers fresh-made shakes/smoothies, including special versions for kids, with optional add-ins like whey, soy, plant protein, creatine, and chia and flax seeds. 12-oz drinks cost $5.50 and 20-oz drinks cost $6.50. I tried a couple smoothies: * Berry, Berry Good - strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and banana with 20 grams of vanilla whey protein * Mango Crusher - mangoes, strawberries, pineapple, and banana with 20 grams of vanilla whey protein The smoothies were absolutely delicious. They were made-to-order, cold, refreshing, and really hit the spot. My older niece (five years old) is a big fan of the Mango Crusher. I liked it too. I loved both smoothies actually. They were flavorful and addictive. When you place an order, the staff gives you one of those restaurant-style pagers which you can take out to the pool. It lights up and buzzes when your order is ready. The inside of the clubhouse has seating with tables. I saw several folks with their laptops out, presumably working remote since it was a weekday afternoon. Free Wi-Fi is available. The men's locker room was fairly spacious and clean with many lockers and various amenities like a sauna. There's a separate building for the gym and I believe there are only two tennis courts. There's also an outdoor basketball court. Plenty of parking is available in two surface lots adjacent to the clubhouse. In general, the property/facilities were clean and in great shape. The Hills Swim and Tennis Club has been sold out of memberships for quite some time, but it's my understanding that memberships periodically become available from members who leave. That's how my sister got her membership. She bought hers from a departing member. All of the staff I encountered were nice.
