From start to finish, everything was well organized and ran smoothly. We ended up with Kevin as our guide through The Baths, and he was outstanding. He knew the history of the islands, pointed out landmarks along the way, and explained how the giant granite boulders at The Baths were formed. You could tell he really enjoys what he does, and it made the experience so much more interesting. The rest of the crew--Brendan, Brian, and Robin (with a Y)--were just as great. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and always making sure guests had what they needed. The boat was clean and comfortable, the open bar was a nice bonus, and the whole day felt relaxed without ever feeling unorganized. This trip was absolutely worth the money. If you're visiting St. Thomas and want to see the British Virgin Islands, I wouldn't hesitate to book with Stormy Pirates again.

Captain Spence brought us around St. John for snorkeling and sightseeing. The islands have a much more picturesque view when on the water. Our group of nine saw nurse sharks, sting rays, lots of fish and "an army of squids" as my daughter happily exclaimed! Both trips we've taken with Caribbean Blue have been the highlight of the water time on vacation! We have done a group catamaran snorkel excursion and while fun in its own way, for the money, and size of our family (5 and 9) the true better value is with a private charter: more time on the water, more time in the water and waaaaay less clumsy landlubbers trying to figure out which end of the snorkel goes in their mouth and how to get their feet in the fins....... Make sure you stop for lunch at Limeout! There's something magical about floating at the taco bar. The food is unbelievably delicious and not what you'd expect from a floating restaurant in Coral Bay. The staff really are prompt and efficient at keeping the spilled food around you cleaned up! I'd highly recommend not forgetting hooded swim shirts for your day on the water. Sunscreen is not as effective as one would expect and the level of sunburn is what you'd probably receive if you were trapped in the alien tractor beam! I do know that if Capt. Spence had a stash of shirts for sale onboard we might have bought them all! If you're heading to STT and want to make forever memories book with Caribbean Blue! Hearing squeals of laughter from your kids when the boat is underway and getting blasted with salt spray while taking it all in from the stern seat sitting next to your wife is a parental joy that is on par with when you were Santa's helper when your kids were 3-10 years old. Yep, the feeling is that good! Even when you're getting fitted for the red suit that you won't be able to take off for 7-10 days.

We stopped by a beach for lunch and did some sight seeing with caves where he told us some stories about the attractions. The level of accommodation was also stellar as he was able to be flexible with our needs. Some of our friends were sea sick and requested to be dropped off a beach to relax and picked up later. The captain planned our day around that and helped to keep time of when we would go pick up our friends. The coral reefs were so vibrant and we saw so many fishes in the ocean. The captain made us feel safe that he has our back in case we swayed too far from the boat or needed help. I am not a swimmer but the boat had noodles and life jackets that he did not mind taking out and putting away as we went about our day. I appreciated how respectful the captain was about the island and the rules implemented such as reef safe sunscreens, no touching the turtles and so on. We had a great time and learned a thing or two! Towards the end of the trip a friend realized he had forgotten something on the boat and sonic charters helped us locate the boat and captain to retrieve it. Coming from nyc, it would have been long gone but glad we got it back. We had a great time, I would recommend them for anyone visiting and want their own boat to get away from the crowds.

Make sure you select night kayak.com with he clear boats as it will make a big difference. because of the little light pollution, clear boats and the led lights, and the neon glow sticks they give you (complimentary) we actually got to see a lot! We saw plenty of sting rays, lots of tarpin, a school of fish, and 1 sea turtle. The water was super calm, and because of it we glided through the water very easily. You will be on the water for a solid hour, sight seeing, and at the same time getting a nice history of the island from some great tour guides. Our guides were Curtis and Denning. Very charismatic guys, a fun vibe, and were very attentive to all the guests to ensure everyone was having a good time and being safe. I loved the insight and history about the island. While we were advised of important details ahead of time, including bringing cash for gratuities, and not to show up inebriated. It would have been extremely helpful to receive a recommendation to bring bug spray or insect repellent as well. Unfortunately, all six members of our family were bitten extensively by sand flies, and the resulting itching, swelling, and large red marks made the next two days of our vacation extremely uncomfortable. We purchased anti-bite treatments, anti-itch creams, and even took Benadryl, but nothing available locally provided meaningful relief. A simple heads-up about the sand flies and the importance of insect repellent would have helped us avoid a very uncomfortable experience. Despite enjoying the excursion itself, this issue had a significant impact on the remainder of our trip. It's only this reason I am giving a lower rating.

Joe gave historical background that was fascinating to questions we had as well as information about the area that was unsolicited. We really enjoyed the snacks provided and the drinks were amazing- that Pain Killer really hit the spot- thanks Catie!!! There is a nice boat bathroom on board which was super convenient. We felt the amount of time at both spots was great- often times places let you snorkel for 15-20 minutes and ours were about 45 minutes per spot. The most guests they take per outing is 12 and our group totaled 9- it was so nice to not have an overcrowded boat filled with people and you wait to get into the water for so long. Not with our group- we quickly were able to get snorkel gear and head into the water to see some really cool groupings of coral and fish along with a turtle at the first spot that swam within ONE foot of me. We even saw Barry the barracuda situated under our boat. Remember though- you should NEVER REACH OUT AND TOUCH AQUATIC LIFE OF ANY KIND just because you want to and are curious. You do not have permission to handle, touch, or step on anything! We got some amazing video using our water proof phone cases. Book with Joe and Catie- you absolutely will NOT regret it! (The review giving 2 stars is NUTS... spending 45 minutes snorkeling at each spot for a half day excursion is way more than most tour companies provide- typically 15-20 minutes in our vast experience... so 45 minutes at both spots was fantastic!)

They felt going to Water Island off of Honeymoon Beach would give us a great first snorkel experience for our grandkids, as there are so many turtles there. They were correct! These machines are no joke either modern Yamaha and Sea-Doo jet skis that'll absolutely fly across the water if you let them. Next thing you know, we're out there like a couple of overgrown kids checking off a bucket-list item I normally wouldn't splurge on. Another couple pulled up beside us and suddenly it turned into what felt like the Caribbean Grand Prix. Hard banking turns, hopping wakes, spraying each other with rooster tails of water like a bunch of irresponsible pirates. At one point it felt less like jet skiing and more like bumper cars on the ocean. The laughter, the shouting, the pure reckless joy of the moment it was childish, ridiculous, and absolutely unforgettable. I'm not saying we broke every rule... but I'm also not saying we didn't. Now don't get me wrong be responsible out there. These guys take safety seriously, with briefings, life jackets, and a safety boat nearby while you ride. But I'll say this: from the friendly staff to the convenient location (even our cab driver told us to go there), it turned into one of the most fun memories of the whole trip. Nobody got hurt, nothing got damaged, we didn't get hauled off by the marine police and somehow we rode back to the dock laughing like kids who just got away with something. I usually save my money for boat tours and cruises... but this? Totally worth it. One of the wildest, funniest afternoons I've ever had on the water.

*** Private Charter Review *** Bad Kitty offers group tours…read moreon a larger catamaran and some other rentals , but we just did a private charter. AND, if you are in a group of like 6 or more, it's so worth it - you are on your own schedule and un-rushed. We did a full day + an additional hour in the BVI. HIGHLY Recommend the additional hour if you are going to do the Bathes - it's an hour to get out there! But it was worth it - a really fun hike down and just beautiful water - if you aren't trying to do too much in the day you could definitely negotiate spending more time exploring here. Captain Greg was great (we were an older group so we probably were a little boring ) but he told us about the various locations, made recommendations and found us some secluded snorkeling spots after lunch. It was THE BEST DAY in the Virgin Islands, just island hopping around and being on the open water. Very friendly, very knowledgeable - he had a bunch of dining and bar recommendations too! It's no frills and the boat isn't the newest one out there - but it's a great value!!! I hope it stays that way - it's a family run business so that probably helps, but most other charters charge you 50+ per guest over 6 and they are already pricier than Bad Kitty. Bad Kitty only charges you after 8. They also don't charge you more for going out to the Bathes - I did a lot of comparisons and some will up the charge to go that far out and that doesn't even include gas! So this was really a great deal for a nice boat with plenty of shade, a wet bar for mixing drinks, plenty of snorkeling gear and noodles and some nice upgrades if you want food and drinks, but they also offer ice and a cooler if you bring your own I can't say enough good things, it was a really great experience and a great way to see some of the BVI without being herded around in a large group Some things to consider for private charters: - All charge a customs fee to go to the BVI: I saw some as low as $75 and some as high as $90 pp - I think this has to do something with what BVI charges charters each year to enter their waters, but this is not unusual and many will ask for your passports up front. If you don't want to bother with that, stay in the USVI for the day - you will still be able to get to some cool spots! - All charters do expect gratuity for the Captain - standard is 20% gratuity (I suppose you don't have to give that much, but gee... they hang out with you all day, get you to some hard to reach spots and make sure you are back through US customs before they close at 5 so you aren't stranded! So you better have a good reason not to give 20% ) - You are also responsible for the gas - the further out you go, the more expensive this will be. It was $294 for our day out to the Bathes, then to Norman Island for lunch and a few snorkeling spots (but that is going to be based on the volatile price of gas at the moment - SO DO NOT quote me on that). When I talked to the woman who helped me with the booking, she was able to give me estimates based on where we thought we wanted to go - which was helpful for budgeting :) All-in-all - I can't recommend them enough!! I plan to be back in the USVI again next year and will be looking these guys up again! And thanks again Captain Greg for a truly wonderful, memorable day!!!

The boat was clean and well-maintained, and the itinerary took us through some of the most stunning waters and islands the Caribbean has to offer. From swimming in crystal-clear waters to relaxing on pristine beaches, it truly made for a memorable day. Despite the longer wait at BVI customs, it went off without a hitch. The crew--apart from one exception--was friendly, engaging, and attentive. They made sure everyone was safe, comfortable, and having fun. The drinks were flowing, the music set a great tone, and the overall vibe was relaxed yet professional. That said, I would be remiss not to mention the demeanor of Captain Jeremy. While clearly knowledgeable about the boat and the route, his tone throughout the day felt unnecessarily condescending and dismissive, I mean this guy is all business. What could have been light-hearted banter often came off as dismissive or patronizing, which slightly dulled the otherwise positive energy aboard. Despite that hiccup, the Bad Kitty experience was still enjoyable, and I would recommend it to others--with the caveat to manage expectations around the captain's communication style. A bit more warmth and respect from the helm would go a long way toward making this a five-star excursion.
