Then we were guaranteed an advance loan on the half that was filed, only to find out we were not even eligible for any such loan advance. When I went in to have the missed return amount amended, the manager was absolutely rude and treated me like I didn't know what I was talking about. Low and behold, we were absolutely owed an additional $5K in return, due to the incompetence of the original preparer, and she was quick to change up her attitude. Then, I was assured it would take 2-3 months for the amendment to be processed by the IRS.... Also incorrect information. It has been 4 months now since our amendment was filed, and we still have at least another month before we will even see the return. Not even the manager knows what she is doing there and did we receive any discount, any apology for her unfounded arrogance and piss poor attitude even?? Nope. She asked me to return again next year so they could "make it right." Thanks, but I think I'd be better off just doing our taxes myself than taking a chance of getting robbed again. We paid $400 for a nightmare, not for anything even close to a legitimate tax preparation. Save your money and pay less by going to Derrick Doba in Flagstaff. He's a private CPA and will do you right. He's half the price of this train wreck of a business too!

However, I heard rave reviews about Crystal from coworkers and decided to give her services a try. Initially, she was very helpful and informative. As other reviews have mentioned, as Tax Day drew nearer, she fell almost completely out of contact. I do not expect perfect communication when someone is personally handling a lot of accounts, but I received no contact that my taxes would be filed on time. With no contact or reassurance by the time Tax Day arrived, I filed an extension on my own. ONE MONTH LATER, I was told our federal return was filed by Crystal. I then had two withdrawals from the IRS from my account due to her tax return being filed. For the past 6 months, I have been fighting to have approximately eleven thousand dollars in overpayment returned to me from the IRS. Crystal has been little to no help, offering short emails or texts that have been no better then, "Cheer up pal, things will turn around soon." Looking through my phone records, I have now spent over 34 hours calling, on hold, or speaking with the IRS. From the information they tell me, the entire error is almost exclusively based on the tax return she filed. Due to her errors and inability to fix them, I will never use a tax preparing service again, and certainly would NEVER recommend All Star Tax Services to anyone I had any good will toward.

Allow me to explain how someone can be "crazy" about their accountant (as I am) to the point where I'd be willing to donate a kidney or "take a bullet" for him. (Yes, he's THAT TERRIFIC a person!) I won't be too "specific," but what happened was that a relative of mine was trying to "mess me over, financially," regarding a probated estate. I'm sure that many of you Ladies and Gentlemen reading my words have either had an experience similar to mine, or know of someone who has. It seems that the fastest and best way to totally dissolve a family nowadays, is to introduce an INHERITANCE into the mix. That's what was happening to me, with my wife's brother, who was also the Executor of their parents' estate (1996). I contacted Tom and said, "Please do a 'Forensic Audit' of all the paperwork that we have received from 'The Jerk,' and let us know if some skullduggery is afoot." (He likes that kind of talk, for some reason.) Anyway, he went to work personally, and found a descrepancy totalling $89,000, caused by a very crooked Probate Attorney (in Iowa) who was using the estate money to insert cocaine up his nasal passages. Even "The Jerk" Executor didn't know what was going on, and after all was said and done (in an Iowa courtroom), both "The Jerk" Executor and the Crooked Attorney had to pay us several thousand dollars; many times the reasonable fees Mr. Shannon charged for the in-depth audit of the papers that were presented to the Probate Court, as summarized by Mr. Shannon. Tom Shannon has more personal integrity and honesty in his pinky finger, than all the crooks in Washington DC, combined. Never in my 62 years of living, have I met or known anyone whom I could trust MORE, with highly sensitive and secret financial information. I must advise you that Tom Shannon is not accepting new clients at this time, if ALL they want done is income tax reporting/filing. So, I'm recommending him to you as a "Full-Service" tax man AND financial advisor/consultant, to whom you can take ALL of your financial concerns (as I do).
