Bobby the mechanic was great, and managed to clean the oilpan of debris without having to lift the engine. Also got the fuel injectors serviced, new prop shaft, balanced the prop etc etc. Everything went great. Clint the electrician and woodworker fix up some of the shady electrical systems from the previous owner and replace with a proper switch, nicely installed and also fixed the engine instruments. Excellent work. Alex was our project manager. He consistently kept us updated on what was happening, what new things had come up, our options etc. There's an excellent store onsite for everything DIY while there. All in all the work was on time, went well and everything was great.

**REVIEW FOR SAUSALITO LOCATION**…read more My recent, and rather extensive, experience at KKMI Sausalito was truly top notch. I purchased a boat out of my local area and wanted to accomplish some significant refit work before relocating it to Southern California. The entire crew at KKMI was professional, knowledgeable and just great to work with. They worked hard to stay on schedule and and maintained excellent communication throughout. It's a boat, so there were a few last minute surprises but KKMI managed them well, making sure I did not miss my departure window. Thank you to the entire KKMI team (with special thanks to Project Manager, Mitch) for making a large project as stress-free as possible and delivering a quality result that was proven out on the 400nm shakedown trip home.

My boat has been in and out of a number of North Bay yards over the past 30 years, and Bay Marine is the one I trust. Each item in their work orders is either a fixed price or an accurate, reasonable estimate that they usually come in under. If additional work is needed they ask for a change order. Jaime keeps me in the loop as they work through issues. I can get at the boat 24/7 if necessary while it's in the yard. I used to get a bottle of wine along with my bill from KKMI, and it was the most expensive wine I ever got. Bay Marine has good communication, prices no higher than they have to be, and an always filled candy dish in the office. Good enough for me.

I was advised by Pablo to pre-order parts for a service that was "highly recommended" by Pablo, but after a lot of back and forth with lack of communication, I don't really believe this service is needed (consulted with other shop) and now I'm being left hanging about whether the parts are being refundable because there's no other job for it. It sounded like a strange sales pitch to pre order parts for a future service but I came here from a referral so I thought there would be some guarantees. Pablo, you said you were going to talk with me at 5 pm today. I'm tired of calling you and emailing all the time. Call me if you want to make this right. You have my number, e-mail, etc etc

I finally got through to one person who made an appointment to show up at my boat at 10:30 am on a Friday. I called the day before to confirm my appointment. The person I talked to, who I believe was the owner, said he didn't see my appointment on the calendar, but he said he would call back in 5 minutes to confirm either way. The called never came. I called again, at 9:30am, the day of the appointment and got no answer. Shortly thereafter I received a text telling me that they were running over at a job in Alameda. He said he would call me back.... as expected that call never happened either. I never heard from anyone from Protector again. They look great. The contour fits the boat and is high enough to provide good traction without being imposing. Beautiful execution and design. #2 Misc repairs. Denise did an incredible job repairing an old inspection port and compass hole that needed filling. I couldn't even see the transition in paint until he pointed it out to me. #3 Barney post. Gilles and Denise designed a custom barney post to replace the thwart where the main is currently attached. This opens up the cockpit and makes it much easier to move around in the boat. Wow. Great design and a total beast construction wise. While it is still pretty light to pick up I am convinced I will probably be able to lift the boat by the barney post. It is made from an old carbon/kevlar spinnaker pole section and a number of custom bits. Very very nice. #4 Various soft padeyes and delrin inserts. I've used these all over my boat to install hardware (turning blocks, twings, etc...). Replacing so much stainless junk on my boat with these bits from Gilles is a big part of how I pulled 115# off a 2000# boat. Highly recommended. These guys are the best.
