The Clayton General Store is located in the Carolina Premium Outlets in Smithfield. I was welcomed…read moreimmediately when I walked in the door. The store sells a little bit of everything from stationery to local NC products like honey, jams, Atkinson Mill products, soaps. Then there were records and cds; signs and such with sayings; lawn decor; ice cream and candy. Antiques were also in the store but those seemed to be store decor rather than for sale but added to the old time vibes of the store. I will be making return trips to shop here again.

HT is definitely one of my favorite stores. I visit this place at least twice a week. Its my spot…read more Saturday April 18th around 7: 50 p.m. I checked out with Serenity. A very rude, vile young lady who obviously hates her job as a cashier and customer service representative. She rang my items up incorrectly three times and when I corrected her, I got the " hissing sound" of the young ladies that are angry they were corrected. I watched in silence and was astounding that this young lady is on the front lines of waiting on customers. I asked for managers and names. As I was leaving, I did run into Austin, and we discussed what Miss Serenity did. His comment was " thats unacceptable and she will be written up." I am definitely not trying to get this young lady in trouble, maybe a 2nd time around in customer training is what needs to happen. Serenity, do better babe! Do better!

Gotham's Deli is a great place to stop if you are looking for lunch in Downtown Smithfield. It is…read moresimilar to a New York City deli but it is located in North Carolina. The walls are decorated in sports memorabilia and September 11th tributes. When you walk in, you will see the Statue of Liberty. I tried to sit in the Mets section, but that was taken as it is a busy place, so I sat near the Yankees. I was ok with the photo of Don Mattingly and don't hate the Yankees, I just love the Mets. I made sure to spend some time in that section before leaving, seeing the 1986 tributes to Mike Piazza, Jose Reyes, and David Wright. It is just fun to be surrounded by the memorabilia. The sandwiches also follow in the New York theme. I ordered the Mr. Met, it had ham, turkey, and roast beef with lettuce, provolone, and tomatoes. I've had it before, so I knew it was good and ordered the full size rather than a half. I enjoyed every bite of it. The service was friendly, and they have daily specials with a different sub featured each day. The food was prepared fresh and fast.
