This used to be a great school. Unfortunately, the current administration has failed this school,…read moreits staff, its parents and its students. I have witnessed first hand, rudeness towards parents coming from the current administration. Not to mention how the current administration cancelled all afterschool dances, a weekly afterschool zumba class, and various school fundraisers. The classrooms were stripped of microwave ovens and refrigerators. Cooking classes are no longer allowed. The current administration even went as far as closing the Administrative Assistant's position. The school no longer has a vice principal. The animal area containing chickens, rabbits and ducks was also removed by the current administration. The school yearbook was also cancelled. And even considering the fact that the current principal spent 10 years in the US Army, he also cancelled the morning flag salute over the schools public address system. Teachers and staff have had their positions closed, and/or their hours cut. Many staff have been moved by the principal to other schools and centers, usually women over the age of 40, and replaced with much younger, inexperienced staff, new to the district. Some older female staff have been forced into early retirement by being placed in assaultive classrooms by the current administration. Now honestly, would you want your mother treated that way by her employer after 30 yrs of dedicated service? There was once a "family" vibe here, and now moral is at an all time low. Unfortunately what was once a fun, positive school for students, staff and parents is now simply a dismal facility used to only benefit the current administration. Its time for a change.

From the very first session, it was clear this wasn't just tutoring--it was personalized, thoughtful guidance tailored to our child's learning style and pace. The tutor is not only highly knowledgeable but also warm, patient, and genuinely passionate about helping kids succeed. Our child went from struggling with math and reading to actually looking forward to sessions and gaining confidence week after week. Homework time is no longer a battle, and the improvement in school has been noticeable--not just in grades, but in attitude and independence. The communication with parents is also fantastic. We always get clear updates, honest feedback, and helpful strategies to use at home. Whether your child needs a little extra support or advanced enrichment, this is the place. Highly recommend to any parent in the Encino area! Netanel really enjoys coming to u and ur daughter. Thank u

I needed a tutor for my nephew, and they set me up with a wonderful young lady who was genuine, smart, and immediately figured out the personality of my nephew and helped him with speech and math. She had so many different ways of teaching simple math. WOW! I definitely recommend this place. A+++

I am a "Professional Hacker" by job title, so when I saw that there was a robotics school that my…read morekid could go to less than ten miles away from our home in Woodland Hills I jumped at the opportunity. I showed my son a few videos from the buildcoolrobots.com page and his eyes lit up. I thought to myself "We may have a winner". After his first class/demo my kid was hooked. As a "Geek Father" I must admit I had a tear (of joy) in my eye as well as he told me "Daddy I love it". Speaking with Stan (the man) to get a feel for his "savvy" I was extremely pleased at his skill level and more importantly how he related with the kids in the classes. The kids love Stan! I could barely get uninterrupted time to speak with him. The kids were relentless with their enthusiasm for either completing a "Mission" or asking for a little help with their robots "code". This impressed me even more. My son began his journey the beginning of Summer 2013, attending classes eight times a month. In that short amount of time he has gone from an interest in computers to developing code and furthermore being excited about it. My sons enthusiasm spans even further from the classroom as (per Stans guidance for me and my kid begging me) I have purchased everything he needs to develop at home. With that being said, I have gone to my sons room on a few Saturday mornings to find my son NOT playing Xbox but instead programming on his laptop telling me "Daddy I almost completed this mission, look at this"! If you are looking for somewhere your kid can learn skills that will benefit them for the rest of their lives, I highly recommend that you enroll them at Great Minds Robotics. Neither you or your kid will be disappointed.

We began searching for a tutor that would be the "right fit" for our daughter, Vyla, some time ago…read more During the 2020-2021 year (4th grade), our daughter was lucky enough to be in-school learning, as COVID prevented many from not being in-school. However, Vyla had been struggling since the beginning of her 3rd grade year, when COVID first hit. Her studies took a nosedive and we had been playing catch-up since. Although being in school was incredibly valuable, she continued to fall behind. As Vyla entered the 5th grade, we were determined to get her caught up as quickly as possible. We considered a few other services, which all looked great, but there was something very warm and positive about Marsha when we discussed Vyla and our determination to get her back to grade level. Marsha reviewed Vyla's background, listened to all of our concerns, reviewed an academic evaluation we had Vyla complete, and discussed an education plan moving forward .When Vyla began the 5th grade, we then reevaluated what Vyla should be doing, based on what was going on in her class. Marsha focused on Vyla's gaps, and with each session, Vyla became more confident, and more focused! When we started, Vyla was hesitate, as Marsha was "new" and she was not sure if she would work well due to having to complete her schoolwork; she was worried about being over-worked. But with each new session, Marsha showed Vyla that studies could be fun! Marsha challenged her with quiz's, facts, flash cards, and Vyla could feel the improvement in her studies. As the school year has progressed, Marsha was quick to utilize the areas Vyla was working on in school, as well as testing her on her spelling, math, and reading. Marsha is kind, patient, and very accommodating. She is willing to work with your schedule, and is flexible provided you keep in communication with her. She wants to work with children, and you can tell she cares - she cares about their wellbeing, education and self-esteem, which is very refreshing. We are very happy we found Marsha, and intend to keep working with her for the rest of the school year, and hopefully next year as well! We completely recommend and appreciate Marsha, who is truly a friendly, experienced and professional tutor. Thank you!

I just read some of the reviews for Birmingham and I beg you to take these reviews with "a grain of…read moresalt". Many of the reviewers sound bitter and want someone to blame for their lack of discipline. If you want to be successful at Birmingham, you CAN be successful at Birmingham, period. The simple facts are these: #1 The campus is beautiful (BIG but beautiful). The groundskeepers and the students take good care of "their home". There are new covered eating areas, new Amazing murals on the walls "Patriot Pride" and if there is a bit of "tagging", it's removed immediately. #2 High security. They installed hundreds of cameras recording all activities on campus. These recordings have been used to prosecute wrong doing. If a student is doing something wrong, security is dispatched immediately. Most students complain about too many security guards yelling at them to get to class! #3 Teachers who push their students to succeed and genuinely care about their students. Many teachers offer many hours of extra tutoring time if students need it. #4 Every sport, club, music, theater, and art class is offered at Birmingham. The sports teams are amazing! The band program, choir program, and theater programs win numerous awards and produce many successful concerts/shows. There are many visual arts programs including drawing, photography, digital imaging and even ceramics. # 5 SLC's (Small Learning Communities) that really tailor to your child's interests and goals. #6 Mr. Parks is a great principal! The staff will help you if you ask. I've seen many schools and most are not as organized and committed to excellence as Birmingham Community Charter High School. Can your child have issues if they go there? Maybe. As a parent, YOU need to check up on your child. You can go online and check your students progress on the Aries computer grading system. You the parent can see if your child "ditched" a class (which isn't hard to do with a population over 3,000 if a kid wants to do that) by looking on the system or calling the school. Don't wait for the school to inform you. Most students (and parents) who complain about Birmingham, are the ones who complain about everything! I know it's not the "Braves" anymore, it's the "Patriots" now---get over it already!! Did I mention how good the food is there now!?!?
