I am very impressed with this school. They have it all: great teachers, friendly learning environment, excellent education, wonderful support staff, character education program, modern facility, and lots of extra curriculum programs. They really challenge students to be the best they can be!

Equity sucks. Some teachers are rude. It's just not right for me.

What could improve Yelp ask? Everything!!!…read more I've worked for this district for over 10 years! Until today!!! I was a very good employee, good reviews and very good with students! At the end of that very toxic one sided work relationship I was denied a formal complaint, un heard, or cared about against a mentally and emotionally abusive teacher (Theresa Bradley) on a daily basis! There isn't an answer, well a logical answer for why she treated me that way but she did! Ive also reported abuse towards students from a IF in her class and got shut down and denied! I I would never and do never suggest or recommend people from applying and will continue to warn any and everyone that will and would ask! They don't care! They don't care about their employees, They don't care about our student! They just don't care about anything other than $! They have some of the most AWESOME teachers, Paras, Admins and campus workers and use and abuse them on a daily! I will miss those people dearly, I will miss those students more! I didn't work for TR for the money (God only knows they don't pay enough!) flipping burgers gets paid more! I simply and whole heartedly worked for this Students! When Ms. K was there they knew someone cared and had their backs! That's the part for me that hurts the most! As a mom I mothered each and every student that came into my life. When your student was with me you knew they were safe and loved! And most of the time very happy! So this is hard, very, very hard! Good bye TR you lost a real one! Sincerely Ms. K forever!!

My son has been brutally emotionally and physically abused by his classmates across three classes and two Twin Rivers Unified schools over the last 3 years. AND NOT ONCE HAS THE SCHOOL ATTEMPTED TO PROTECT MY SON IN ANY REALISTIC OR MEANINGFUL WAY. They make false promises and safety plans with no intentions of following them. My son has been hit, kicked, STABBED with a sharp stick near his eyeballs and SPIT on. He has had to undergo Hepatitis and HIV screenings. Has come home with open bleeding wounds. And the school DOES NOT NOTIFY YOU THAT YOUR CHILD NEEDS MEDICAL ATTENTION. I am working on moving to a new school district. Your child would be safer enrolled in the infantry over in Bosnia.

I can…read morenot speak about their bridges after school program but they really seem to be trying for the kids. I can not speak about morning traffic because we are there early before traffic starts to develop. Everyone has been very friendly and helpful. They have a class dojo for the class/ school that updates you with important information. I really appreciate that. I was able to ask the teacher about early dismissal for parent conference day and I clarified it was all week. This information would've been nice the week before. Finding alternative transportation is very important and to rearrange the schedules. They had a great resource for the parents and community. Face mobile provides food and diapers and technology information free WiFi tons and tons of information and resources. it sounds like a catch all it is mobile and at different locations. One thing I have noticed the payment is not updated. Paying cash is sometimes not convenient and the school will lose profit. We went to the book fair and the scholastic register was having trouble. I brought cash because of the past experiences but others were having trouble and the line was very long and the wait was at least 30 minutes. I don't know if some people walked out because they couldn't wait and they were directly to the site. Having a square to have the transactions accountable I'm sure they could figure something that was more effective. The employee seemed frazzled under the pressure. Another person to help with the transactions would've been very helpful. We at our first trimester of the school and we are happy. I have open communication with our teacher. And it's made the experience great.

While it is true that many people here are Caucasian, I don't feel like anyone discriminates against us. The teachers have embraced our family and the other parents in my son's classes are friendly with us. It's too bad that some have had a bad experience here. I haven't been involved with the PTA beyond volunteering at the fall carnival, etc. so I can't speak to the nature of the PTA members. Elizabeth Wahl is a good principal and she reached out to me when my son was in 1st grade to help me get him into Discovery Club. My advice: take advantage of what this school has to offer academically. If you're feeling like the PTA is exclusive and homogeneous, bring a friend to the meetings! This school has a lot to offer: STORM (Special Team of Role Models); Ms. Messner is one of the MOST AMAZING educators around town; and the people in the office CARE about the well-being of the students! This school is rated a 9 or 10 by www.greatschools.org, focus on what they have to offer academically.

So they diagnosed my son with a hearing issue stating this is what was wrong or it could even be…read moresomething developmental like ADHD. He was retained in grade K after we believed he sincerely had some type of issue since he only scribbled on papers, couldn't write well, wasn't able to read or put words/sounds together -- albeit he is a genius in math.He counts up to 200 and is 5... I took him to our Native American clinic for a screening and his pediatrician who didn't do his pre-K screening (vision and hearing) noted he hears fine, doesn't appear to have ADHD, and has a hard time seeing. I was shocked, a hard time seeing? They believed he was around 20/30 or 20/40 since he did poorly on the eye chart. Bless his pediatrician's office because he could only ready the 40 and 50's at the eye doctors without help, so they were very correct. So he has poor vision in his left eye where he needs nearly a +3.00 lense and his right eye is overcompensating for the issue and is also weakened where he needs a +1.50 in that eye. With his glasses on he clearly writes his name and can color... because he can SEE! Mariemont only wanted to blame some type of developmental issue or a hearing issue as his problem. I remember at one point being told the other kids had preschool and because he didn't that might be the issue. I stated preschool was out of our budget and I was reminded that the neighborhood is wealthier so the kids go to preschool... So their kids were automatically seen as better because they were rich and white. You'd think someone in the process would have tested his eyesight if he had a problem reading. It seems so, DUH! now but I am a first time parent dealing with an uptight school but they do this everyday so there is no excuse. I continue to state his teacher was awesome and did what he could but their administration and even other parents are the nightmare there. I am on the fence for him returning I can't do to it him even though they are considered a "good school" they are not a good school for someone with a mixed ethnic background whose parents don't net 100k+ a year.

My step-son is brilliant but undisciplined and he was allowed to "graduate" sixth grade without doing any work at all and only getting "1's" and "2's" his whole career there. My oldest step-child would've succeeded anywhere anyhow and still does..... My fifth grade daughter has had much the same experience as my son until this year. This year I've been heavily involved and her teacher is very communicative and the difference has been huge. The school goes on wonderful field trips in every grade. The music program is awesome, my daughter has class for 30min 3x's/week and is learning quickly. The office staff are typically rude. The parking lot ( pickup / drop off ) is well managed and there is a great focus on child safety and using crosswalks. There's also a crossing guard and a " lighted?" Crosswalk just for school goers. P.E. is not a large focus but I believe funding is gone for health at most elementry schools. The children do have a large field, two playgrounds, ball courts, basketball courts and a basebal / kickball backstop. The surrounding area is typical for the city except that there is an outpatient psychiatric facility about 1 mile up mission avenue. There are people often in the area that " act weird " but I've heard of nothing harmful from them. I would rather my daughter been in a different school for all previous years but I am happy with her, her teacher and myself right. I wouldn't choose to enroll another child in this school but I'm alright with my daughter finishing out this year there.
