I went to CM throughout high school and my experience was poorly. I had an IEP with accommodations that were either honored in the absolute bare minimum or outright ignored. Any sort of neurodivergence that is outwardly perceivable WILL be targeted and you will be pressured to conform by administration. This happened to me and countless others to the point some were pulled out of school due to the severity of this and if you DARE advocate for yourself, you will be forced into silence. Another issue was the extreme lack of diversity. Caucasian is 90% of the student body and staff, which caused feelings of alienation. The one good thing about this school were most of the teachers. Most of them really did or do try (did as in a large portion of staff were fired or resigned due to grievances with administration) but I fear this is not nearly enough to be worth it. I find this school a disgrace to Maria Montessori and an utter mutilation of her teachings. read more

I am a student in the Islands and this review is to the FREAKING TYPHOON BATHROOM. So, first of all there is always pee in that bathroom and US AS STUDENTS HAVE TO CLEAN IT UP Second of all, I was just in there I'm in my advisory rn and it smelt like absolute doodoo funk...12 gallons of bounce dat ass. while I was leaving the bathroom door handle sprung up and knocked my nail off. read more

Too much SA. Better than public school but most staff members are very biased. Great for neurodivergent students, though; half the teens are autistic or gay. read more

Probably the worst school you could ever enroll your children into....they promote catering/working with families and child based care needs, but the second the director Barbara doesn't agree with your specific family need she does everything within her power to get you out of her school. She was disgusting, disrespectful and even tried to abuse our children with her words. Not a school worth even considering. read more

History

Established in 1998.

Community Montessori was founded as an additional school choice for the Southern Indiana community. In August 2002 the school became a Charter School, after receiving sponsorship from Ball State University. The "charter" designation makes the school a FREE, independent, public school for learners in grades K-12. In addition to our Charter School, we offer a tuition-based Early Education program for children ages 3 and 4, and infant/toddler care through The Community Nurtury, allowing the unique opportunity for our learners to spend their entire school career in a consistent and supportive environment. The school educates over 600 children and teens with a waitlist of over 100 learners throughout the year.
