You want a school that gets the job done? You want a school that's hassle free? You want a school…read morethat literally no one will ever compliment you on graduating from? Well look no further. West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North. Let's talk about features. Substitute teachers: nope Indoor climate control: nope A competitively viable athletics team: nope A variety of food options: nope... but it's got hot lunch if you don't want to starve in the middle of the day. Let me tell you a story. One day, the school had a water leak. No one cared. It went away. You could wake up on the hottest day of June, speed up global warming, drive to school, turn the mainframe thermostat to 100 celsius, insulate every room, go to the school website, and this place would call a snow day for it being "a bit too chilly." This school will outlive you, it will outlive your children. Things this school is old enough to do: Vote: yes Drive: yes Go to high school: it IS a high school This school's got history. It's seen some stuff. People have done weird things in this school. People have done normal things in this school. It's not going to judge you like how Princeton Day would. Interesting facts: Parts of this school's exterior color is gray, but some of the inside walls are grey. In the program of studies, four full years of attendance are listed as "optional." When this school was unveiled at the office of the superintendent, it caused all 40 attendees to spontaneously yawn. The resulting abrupt change in air pressure inside the building caused a partial collapse of the roof. There were no injuries, but some debris hit the superintendent's mouse, causing him to inadvertently order a bouncy castle for his eleven-year-old daughter's birthday party from Amazon Prime. This event is chronicled in the documentary "Air Pressure: The Story of West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North and the Inflatable Bounce House." You wanna know more? Great. I had my school fill out a Facebook survey. Favorite food: unsalted fries Favorite tv show: Riverdale Favorite rapper: Beethoven This school is as practical as a Roth IRA. It's as middle-of-the-road as a sophomore in the last five minutes of study hall. It's as utilitarian as a member of a church whose scripture is entirely based on water bills. When I ran RateMyTeacher on this school, the website printed out a single piece of paper that said, "It's North. It's fine." Let's face the facts. This school isn't going to win any division championships, but neither are you. Stop lying to yourself and stop lying to your parents. This isn't the school you want, but it's the school you deserve: West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North.

I'm writing this to share an honest experience for other families who may not fully understand how…read moreprivate school policies can impact them during difficult times. My children attended this school and were happy there. It was the only school they had known, and they had built relationships, routines, and a sense of stability within that environment. When our family experienced financial hardship due to job loss, we were no longer able to meet the tuition requirements. As a result, our children were asked to leave. I understand that private schools operate as businesses and rely on tuition. However, what was difficult was the lack of flexibility, support, or transition planning for the children. The process felt abrupt, and there was little acknowledgment of the emotional impact on them. For young children, being removed from their school environment is not just a logistical change, it's a significant emotional disruption. That part did not seem to be considered in how the situation was handled. I'm sharing this so other parents are aware: If your financial situation changes, there may be limited options, and the outcome can be immediate. If you are considering this school, I would encourage you to ask detailed questions about: -financial aid policies during unexpected hardship -transition support if a family can no longer afford tuition -how the school supports children emotionally in those situations The education itself may be strong, but families should understand the full picture before committing.

We have been a Chapin family for eleven years…read more My older daughter had attended Chapin since pre-k and graduated last year. She was more than ready to take on the challenges of secondary school. Her freshman year was an academic success! Throughout her years at Chapin, she has grown to be an independent, well-rounded individual. She's not afraid to email teachers about assignments, ask questions when she is uncertain about something discussed during class, or voice her opinion about anything. We owe those positive attributes to Chapin. My younger daughter has also attended Chapin since pre-k. She continues to amaze us with how much she's learned in just a short amount of time. We owe that to the excellent Chapin teachers who not only educate their students but also care about their growth and development. My husband and I are excited for my little one to experience all that Chapin has to offer in the coming years. Chapin is an extraordinary school. The decision to send our children here is one of the best decisions that my husband and I have ever made.

we are VERY happy with our experience at Milestones Montessori and I would highly recommend…read morechecking it out if you're looking for a high-quality educational experience for your child. We were in need of a school option for our 3.5 year old when his old school suddenly closed, and decided to give Milestones a try. Within the first two weeks we were already impressed by the growth our son was demonstrating when he came home from school: through the Montessori method, he was becoming more independent in everyday responsibilities like changing clothes and putting away toys, and in general seemed to be getting better at focusing on single tasks for long periods of time. The curriculum for learning to read and write is also very sophisticated, and we've watched his reading and writing skills grow very quickly. The school director Ms Saritha has been very easy to communicate with and her observations about our son's strengths and growth areas have been spot-on. She really knows what she's doing when it comes to running a Montessori program, including its focus on individual students' choice, growth, and responsibility, and its well-designed way of introducing young children to reading, math, geography, and so on. Because "Montessori" is not a trademarked term, any school can claim to use it but in reality there's a lot of variation in what they're really doing. Milestones's program is well-run and true to the Montessori approach, and we've seen the benefits for our son. In addition, Milestones is more affordable than a lot of other local options. We live just outside the Princeton area where school programs are quite pricey. With Milestones I feel we've gotten the best kind of educational program we could ask for, and also at a lower price, simply because it's not a large center and because it's located in Dayton rather a different zip code. Overall - I'd highly recommend going to check out Milestones if you're in search of a high-quality school program, with a warm environment, and with very reasonable tuition costs.

Princeton Friends School is a community of learners who work together to create an environment…read morewhere individuals feel supported, welcome, and included, where adults often learn from the students, and all feel engaged in the learning process. As a small school, every member of the community gets to know one another, and mixed-age groupings for events and some classes are the norm. Social and emotional well-being is something the staff take seriously and constantly review and address. PFS believes in the importance of outdoor learning, and often students can be found studying microbiology in a local stream, finding writing inspiration among the trees, and gaining confidence in themselves when working in the garden or exploring the woods. Teachers respect the authenticity and agency of each student, and encourage and empower them accordingly. I have worked at PFS for four years as a teacher and within the administrative team, and my sense is that the teachers who choose to be here do so because they truly care about the other members of the community, and enjoy the daily challenge of helping one another be our best selves. We seek to discover and nurture the joy in learning and in contributing to a community of folks who care for one another. Diverse learners are welcome at PFS and teachers and staff work hard to 'meet them where they are' while encouraging growth and student ownership of their learning. Students who need extra support at PFS are evaluated, and given accommodations in class and supported by a student study team. Families are encouraged to be active partners in the students' learning, and are welcomed regularly on campus for events. Teachers are in regular communication with families through student advisory teams, and there are many opportunities to connect through the Family Association.
