He convinced me back then to get a set of hearing aids (even though I was only in my 40s!) to help cope with a case of tinnitus in my right ear. Throughout the years, I've found Dr. Cohen to be a great professional--always kind, considerate, understanding, and knowledgable about aids and other solutions that meet my challenging needs. This was especially true when my tinnitus bloomed to full-on single-sided deafness. (I completely lost hearing in my right ear due to surgery in 2013 to remove a golf ball sized acoustic neuroma--or benign brain tumor--which also destroyed my right ear's hearing nerve.) His current office, shared with an optometrist/eye glass store, might not look like much. But it doesn't impact the type and level of service and support he provides! (In fact, I think his "low-overhead" approach probably saved me SEVERAL thousands of dollars over a mid-town audiologist's office offering the same top-end hearing aids.) Dr. Esca diagnosed my hearing loss and suggested my getting top-of-the-line hearing aids for $1000 less than the other place on a half-price sale. Dr. Esca knows what she is doing. She's professional and approachable with patients' questions about follow-up, costs, and recommendations.

I have worked with Bonnie off and on for what seems like two decades now. I have come across a slew…read moreof audiologists, mostly in connection with ENT doctors I've visited over the years. Bonnie is head and shoulders better than any other audiologist I've spent time with. For one, her hearing exams are easily 3 times as long and far more thorough than other audiologist exams I've had. She always takes the time to be thorough and complete, answering ever question I throw her way, and she works a problem until it's solved to the best of her ability. For a time, I had left Bonnie to go the cheaper, Costco hearing aid route. But when my hearing degraded further and I needed specialized assistance, I returned to Bonnie without blinking an eye. And the result has been top notch as I expected. Obviously, using Bonnie over Costco is a far more expensive proposition, but, in my case, I had to bite the bullet and go that route to ensure Ii could hear as well as possible. Ultimately, we setted on top of the line Phonak Hearing Aids as well as custom ear molds and a Roger On microphone, and the result has changed my life. While I did pay a lot upfront, every time I needed service or additional help or had to have a broken ear mold remade, Bonnie has always ensured I never had to pay an additional dime. I can't recommend Bonnie enough. If and when the day comes that she decides to retire, for me, it willl be a very sad day! I had had no complaint with this facility and the audiologist, Veronica Garelik until....my hearing…read moreaids were still under warranty but started acting up mid December. I was given a loaner pair and originals were sent back to the factory. Since the loaners were better than the originals and I was told due to the holidays being so close it may take a bit of time for the repair I didn't call the office. However, I did send an email msg to the audiologist stating I liked the loaners. Today, 1/19 I received a call on my landline telling me the originals were back and they've been trying to reach me for at least 3 weeks and all calls directed to my cell went directly to voice mail and they then claim they texted me with no response. There were no missed calls as there would have been a record and no text. As a matter of fact, this is not the first time I've been told calls have been made and gone directly to voice mail from this company. I'm pleased with the hearing aids but not with what I perceive as dishonesty to cover their office inadequacies. I'm sure that my warranty will now be invalid due to this review. I hope not.

I accompanied my mother for her appointment with Dr. Veronica Gorelik at the Scarsdale location and…read moreit was the worst experience I have ever had or witnessed with a healthcare provider. The doctor seemed fine up until I informed her that my mother has met her insurance's annual out of pocket max and the insurance company has previously confirmed there will be no copay for the hearing aid. The doctor then assumed a condescending tone and repeatedly claimed that the insurance company has no role in this and their limits do not apply. As was later confirmed by both the insurance company and the service partner (TruHearing) who referred my mother to this shop, there is in fact no copay and that confirmation was proactively provided to this doctor through TruHearing's "Echo Portal" which this doctor could have easily verified. The conversation went to hell - after I informed her that we would file a complaint against her and switch provider, the doctor refused to return my mother's in-take forms, which contain my mother's full SSN and other confidential personal information. She first falsely claimed the forms have been loaded into paper shredder, then claimed that we had no right to demand return of "their" forms - despite the fact that they emailed the blank forms to me yesterday and I filled in my mother's information. I felt verbally attacked at this establishment and the doctor and her assistant did NOT appear like healthcare professionals to me. They seem more like used car sales people throwing a fit for lack of up front payment. I can understand we all make mistakes; I can even excuse them from not checking their portal for insurance benefit confirmation; but the way the doctor acted despite her mistakes was not excusable. I caution anyone who is referred to this establishment. There are many options - look for the true healthcare professionals and avoid getting into a bad situation as my mother and I were subjected to.
