Union project is awesome! Super large studio and very friendly and inclusive staff/community. I've…read moretaken two 10-week beginner/intermediate class sessions here already. I would recommend following their Instagram or sign up for their email newsletters to get first notification of when enrollments start. I've learned so much so far - especially with Mac as our teacher Honestly such a fun studio, I look forward to coming here after work all the time. :)

I am taking another class here, so I feel like I should update again. I haven't been back to open…read morestudio, but the place seems more inviting now than it was before. I haven't seen any issues with the amount of clay that is available, and my teacher has been more than willing to mix up what I need. Edit 4/22/2014 I went to open studio this weekend. The monitor was super helpful, but there was no space to do anything and my stuff was moved multiple times by co-op members... I understand that there is a show next weekend, but maybe open studio time should be geared more toward accommodating the people that are paying to be there and less on the co-op members pushing you out of the way to get their stuff done on time... I hate to say this, 1. because I know I will go back there and I really do not mean to offend anyone... I am just giving my opinion and 2. because all of the classes I have taken there have been amazing. However, I keep having not great experiences at open studio. That being said, I have had some open studio's that were great... but not nearly as many as were bad.

My son has been at this daycare for a few months now and we love it…read more The staff is welcoming and makes you and more importantly your child feel at home. Our son was nervous for us to leave him at first and a staff member set down her own child to pick him up and tell him it would be okay. This same staff member stops whatever she is doing every morning to say good morning to our son. The staff is huge on communication. When I emailed the director with an initial question, she immediately looped in his classroom teacher and pushed for us to communicate, rather than her being a third party. I have always received very quick responses. We were pulled into a parent teacher conference within a month of starting here. The teacher then had us all complete an assessment and we used this as a guide to have another conference and make sure we were all aware of how our son is acting and responding in different environments. Since leaving his previous daycare where he was having daily accidents with potty training, he has had 3 accidents in 2 months. The daily routine is very structured and the kids never have lengthy periods of time where they are left to their own devices. The teachers are all knowledgable in child development and amazing at what they do. You can feel their passion for their careers when you walk in the door. My son is always excited to tell me about his day when I pick him up. Overall, I would highly recommend this childcare facility to anyone!

This was my very first time inside of the center. I attended a book/author conference, and found…read morethe space to be accommodating for a decent size event. You can rent the facility completely and have 2 different areas. For example, one for event and the other you can use for dining. It's located in the Hill District and has served as a recreational and meeting space for decades.

I'm going to be honest, I had no idea that this place existed. The only reason I ended up here was…read morebecause my coworker was having a surprise birthday party for his mother. Not knowing my way around this neighborhood I was surprised by this asset hidden in plain sight. This is a place that every neighborhood could use and should have. It is a multiuse facility that could be used for anything from birthday parties to conferences. Ample space can be found inside with amenities you can use if need be. The inside is interestingly decorated. There is art everywhere. Talk about being a cultural gathering place, which this place is. Pictures hang just about everywhere, whether they are paintings or photographs. I have to say that if you wanted to escape the room you are in you could definitely distract yourself with all that is in here. Parking is available inside the fenced area or on the street. I suggest trying the street as the parking lot is a bit cramped at the moment, but a good thing to have. As for the name of the place, it is a fitting memorial to a young man that met a tragic end.
