We can't say enough about the staff at Commonwealth Pediatric... Everyone is always so kind and understanding. The hygienists are so good with my anxious boys, and Dr. Murphy is always amazing with them, too. My kids really like how welcome they feel when they are there for appointments. I brought my son here a few weeks ago for an abscessed baby tooth (molar). He had been seen at the urgent care a few days prior and had been put on antibiotics prior to the dental appointment. The dental staff took X-rays and inspected my son's mouth. It was determined that they were not going to be able to treat the problem, and instead referred me to an oral surgery clinic where he would need to go under general anesthesia. The anesthesia would not be covered by insurance, and would cost $1,500 out of pocket. I then brought my son to a different dentist for a second opinion. This dentist was able to extract the tooth the same day he was seen, under local anesthesia, without having referral for oral surgery. He has since been doing great and has had no complications from the extraction. Why would Commonwealth Pediatric Dental refer my son for oral surgery unnecessarily, keeping in mind this was a baby tooth? The other dentist was able to treat my son without any issues. I will not be returning to Commonwealth Pediatric Dental, and I advise other patients to be cautioned. read more

Cannot say enough great things about the staff here with Dr Murphy and Dr Oliviera. They have always made my children feel safe and welcomed. The techs are always thorough,playful, & gentle and the reception (Alex is who I deal with mostly) are all amazing. Dr Murphy removed an a double abscess from my sons mouth a few years back and I couldn't even believe I had ever gone anywhere else after being treated so well. They are clean, up to date with machinery & honestly the best dentist ever! will continue to drive way out of my way to see them everytime. read more

Excellent!!! I went with my three kids today (5 and under) who were scared to be there. The hygienists were AMAZING and so calm and patient! The dentist sang to my one year old and put him at ease! Every visit has been such an amazing experience! We came to this office after a few bad experiences with a different company so my youngest was not very fond of going. She also lost some teeth after a bad fall at preschool and somehow, the dentist and dental assistants are sweet and patient enough to get her through a whole visit. In the chair. By herself. With a smile on! And because of how patient and attentive to how comfortable she feels, they are able to be very thorough in checking her teeth to make sure everything is good. If that doesn't tell you how good of an office this is, I don't know what will. I can not say enough about this place! read more

Sadly I will be walking away from this practice. The Dr. seemed ok, but my daughter needed work done on her teeth, and because of religious beliefs my children are no longer vaccinated. I was told from the anesthesiologist they refused to do work on my daughter and that they talked to dr. Murphy who came into agreement with them. His office never told me that nor called me, I had to call 2 months later to see what the status was. Do I feel discriminated for my religious beliefs... yes. The receptionist told me another patient/parent that are having the same situation in this practice. When I called back asking questions the assistant Beth was very very quick to send a release form to me to get me out of that practice after I said I felt discriminated against. read more

My daughters have been going to see Dr.Murphy for years. Always a great experience, staff is super helpful and friendly.

I will first say that we have loved Dr. Murphy, and he has been a great dentist to my daughter in the past, but we have recently had a terrible experience with his office staff, and I feel I need to share to let others know to either avoid or at least be aware. First of all, it's my belief anyone who works within the medical field or with people in general, should consider their tone, delivery, and how they treat people especially those in vulnerable medical situations.  The dentist isn't exactly something most children love to go to and coming off the pandemic we hoped to be treated kindly - but that was not the case.  We have a unique situation in which we moved to UT from MA in early 2020 - but then the pandemic happened and many factors contributed to us keeping our Massachusetts health insurance. My daughter's father also died during this time. It was a very hard year for us as I know it was for others. We hoped to make an appointment during a Massachusetts visit in April for a cleaning and consultation because she was a year overdue. They told us there was no availability, so we said we would go elsewhere, and then suddenly there was availability that worked for us, so we were excited. We went out of our way to get there and were running late since the drive from where we were staying is three hours plus and there was unexpected traffic. They tried to cancel our appointment first, and then reluctantly and with a lot of attitude said she could still come. They rushed her in without me and then she was out in no time, and they said she had cavities and chastised us over it. She never saw Dr. Murphy. In a year of a pandemic (especially our year), the last thing a mother and child need to feel is guilty about not having gotten to the dentist and she always does her best. As Dr. Murphy himself has said about her having cavities in the past - there could be contributing  factors aside from dental care like genetics - so judging us wasn't necessary. She had gone several visits without a single cavity. They also would not make an apt at that time to address the cavities, probably punishing me for being late even though it was beyond my control. Not cool. Now they can't get her in until August and won't give me her records easily. I mean I'm not getting more x-rays done etc when they were just done. Part of the reason we were waiting to change over all our medical coverage was because of this, and now we are left high and dry. I'm disappointed to the say least - more like saddened. I hope the specific staff members who treated us that way can reflect and change their behavior knowing that they work in a service industry that caters to people who are already nervous, stressed, and vulnerable. read more

I will say that when we started going to Dr. Murphy several years ago, I was beyond happy! But there have been a few incidents of late, and what happened today was so far beyond crossing a line, we will never step foot in this office again. My son broke his tooth at a skatepark last night. I called the office and was transferred over to the emergency Dr on call which was Dr Murphy. He took my info, had me send him pictures of my sons tooth, and said we would hear from his office first thing about coming in in the morning for X-rays and an exam. I called myself first thing this morning just to make sure I got through and they had all my info and said we could come in at 9:15. Great! We got there early at 9, and they took us right in! Did the X-rays, gave an exam all within about 10 minutes. The Dr (not Dr Murphy) said she wasn't going to be able to do the repair today because his tooth needed time heal as to not damage the root. Disappointing, but totally understandable. She then said she would put a sealant bandaid on the tooth so it wouldn't be so sensitive until he could come back, but that she didn't have time to do it right then, we would have to come back at 10:45??? I explained we drove a half hour to get there and didn't understand why she couldn't do it while we were there considering they took us in 15 minutes early so we're actually ahead of schedule. Was told no. I drove the 30 mins home just to turn around and drive right back when the office called at 10:15 saying ok all set you can come in now. I was aggravated. I explained the situation to the girl on the phone saying I was very unhappy with how this whole thing was handled and that we would be in for the sealant, but probably not returning after that. She apologized and that was that. Within minutes, I get a phone call from a cell phone number I don't recognize. It is Dr. Murphy calling on his day off from his cell phone...not to check up to see if everything was ok or reassure me, nope! He called to ream me out!! Yell at me over the phone, belittle me, and tell me not to bother coming back. Wouldn't even let me speak! I was in absolute shock!! I'm not sure what has happened to Dr. Murphy or his practice, but the patient care is going downhill. It seems he is only in it for the money! read more

The level of service we received was satisfactory but their communication with the patient regarding costs was very bad. We went to this dentist with the understanding that the total charges based on our insurance would be $39. After the final visit we were informed that we owed them over $400. The office manager stated that they had used "white" fillings for our child (age 7). These are not permanent teeth and would fallout soon. Why would we want white fillings (which our insurance does not cover) when he could have used silver fillings (which are covered by our insurance). read more

I would not recommend this office to anyone looking for professional customer service and communication with their patients. The office staff was rude and failed to admit fault when they failed to communicate an important part of a procedure even though they had numerous opportunities to discuss with patient's family. Several emails/texts and verbal communication was had prior to appointment and nothing was ever mentioned about the pre-appointment needs. When questioned, the office staff was non-empathic and claimed that it was not her who I spoke to and that there was nothing she could do other than reschedule for another day (a month away during school hours). We waited 2 months for this appointment and the office did not seem to care about our needs or their failure to communicate properly. I am extremely disappointed with the quality of customer service especially since this is a children's office and can be an stressful event for them and the parents. The fact that the office staff didn't try to alleviate the hurdle and admitting fault is not an environment I would recommend. read more
