My recent visit was the last straw as I was met to pay my bill by the rudest young lady, including the women who sits in the middle who acts as though she is too good to answer simple insurance questions and couldn't bother to look away from her monitor other than to roll her eyes. I typically receive a bill in the mail AFTER my insurance is ran and the claim is filed but the person at the check out insisted I pay that day. At that time I also was notified that I was not in network, which was a shock to me because I was referred here by a coworker with the same insurance years ago. Which should have been disclosed because I would have declined. After speaking with my insurance provider I was informed the amount they had me pay in the office was incorrect as they did not even submit the claim before charging me and I over paid by $110, simply for the fact that they charged me an estimated amount prior to filing my insurance. I have been coming here for years and will not come back. If you are looking for a dental office I would suggest going elsewhere.

I used to absolutely love Edinburgh Family Dentistry 100%. So much so I recommended them to…read moreeveryone I knew. Sadly, over the past two years customer service for the adults in our household has declined significantly. I'm going share as 4 stars, at this point it's really closer to 3 1/2 but they don't give you an option for that, which I'm torn since they do take great care of my children. Let's start with the positives: The hygienist and Doctor who work with our children are wonderful. They are gentle, kind, and patient. They have never pushed unnecessary treatments. They simply do their cleanings, make observations, and offer suggestions. Never had an issue with how our kids are treated. They even allow you to sit in the room with them. This part of their practice has always been excellent. The wait time once you arrive and check in is never long, I don't believe we've ever waited more than 10 minutes to be seen except one time when someone called out so they were short staffed. The office is also very clean. However, our experience as adults has been very frustrating. My husband was essentially "Ghosted" as a patient. He was contacted about moving his appointment earlier, which he agreed to only if his original appointment could remain in case he couldn't make it ( He was traveling for work that week). They canceled his original appointment anyways, and then later canceled another appointment because insurance was "asking questions" but no one ever followed back up with him like they said they would. In the end they dictated his schedule instead of working with it, and he never got his mouth completed after starting a deep cleaning. Recently they repeatedly kept contacting me during work hours asking for insurance information even though I had told them I did not have it on hand and would send it as soon as I could that day. The constant texts during the workday feel excessive and stressful. Another limitation is pain management, they only offer injections for numbing. If you don't numb well with needles like me they can't accommodate you. They won't even do my teeth cleanings until one tooth issue is resolved elsewhere. Scheduling is also a bit difficult, appointments are typically booked close to a year out, and although we tried to switch to their newer location, they told me they are still working on insurance coverage there so we're stuck at this office. Today was another example of the disorganization. We had a 2pm appointment and arrived 15 minutes early. The staff was in a meeting and kept all patients waiting outside until exactly 2PM. As more and more patients arrived for their appointments they eventually put a sign on the door telling people to return at 1PM even though it was already past that and they still weren't available until 2. It was confusing and frustrating especially for those who arrive on time and early. During cleanings you won't see the dentist for more than 5 minutes unless you have specific concerns. Overall, this used to be a 5-star office for us. Now it feels very inconsistent. Excellent for children so far.

The office staff is horrible at scheduling and notifying you. It took several months to schedule my…read morewife's first appointment in 2025. After that appointment and becoming an established patient, Edinburgh Family Dentistry in Chesapeake could not schedule her next appointment until 2026. She asked them, aren't cleaning supposed to be every six months? This office said yes, but they do not have any availability, and my wife could be put on a cancellation list for an early appointment. When it came time for my wife's appointment this February 2026, this dentist's office called my wife three hours before her appointment and said her hygienist was out sick and they had to cancel her appointment. She asked about seeing another hygienist, and they told her they are short-staffed. Edinburgh Family Dentistry makes sure to inform you that you will be charged a late or no-show fee if you do not give advance notice within 24 hours of canceling your appointment with them. My wife asked when they will be able to schedule her for the next cleaning appointment, since this cancellation by the dentist's office, they said February 2027. My wife said that would be two years without seeing a dentist, but the office staff didn't seem to see a problem with that. If you are an established patient, you would think you would be accommodated after the office canceled your appointment, which you made a year ago. This is absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. Maybe Edinburgh Family Dentistry should have thought twice before opening their Moyock office until they figure out their staffing problems, or maybe pay their hygienists a better wage to keep their attrition rate down. My wife did like her Dentist, but hates that she must deal with an office staff that is clueless to patient needs. In response to the owner's response. This is not a misunderstanding. It appears to be an ongoing issue with Edinburgh Family Dentistry. See Traci Gray's & Anne Buckner's one-star reviews from one & seven months ago. They both had to experience the same one-year extension befall them. It's clearly an unwillingness to train your obtuse and unenlightened office staff, which resulted in your colleague, Dr. G, losing a patient.

So, I promise a truthful review of my experience at Crossroads Dental. After having a root canal and needing a permanent crown on the tooth, I asked my endodontist if she would recommend a dentist to me as my prior dentist no longer honored my insurance. The doctor gave me two names and I chose Dr Lanier because of the proximity of her office. I felt confident walking into Dr Lanier's office because Dr Lanier had been referred by another professional. The tooth itself has been problematic so I felt a little anxious about the tooth. The person scheduling my appointment over the phoned scheduled it within the time frame for replacing the temporary restoration with a permanent solution. Parking was accessible and when entering the office, the staff was welcoming and the waiting area comfortable. Dr Lanier attentively listened to my concerns and together we arrived at a treatment plan and started implementing the plan. She provided options for my concerns, and I had many concerns. Dr Lanier is a highly skilled professional doctor, a good listener and a compassionate and kind person who showed a love for her work. When getting out of her chair, her assistant Linda had this smile and said to me, "that what she does." A stop to the restroom on the way out revealed it to be impeccable. Grateful for this recommendation from my endodontist. My dental health team is now complete.

I cannot say enough good things, especially about the pediatric department and Dr. Spruill! Late yesterday afternoon, we called to get our daughter seen following a playground mishap. They graciously agreed to fit us in at the end of their day. Dr. Spruill evaluated our daughter and was glad we brought her in immediately. Though we had initially been told any procedure may have to wait, he stayed well beyond closing to make sure she received the surgery she needed.
