Went there a 3 years ago, back when I had the insurance coverage to get some much needed work done…read more They had me coming in once a month, to work a single tooth at a time. Knowing I needed much more work than that. Over the course of 6 months got some basics done, and was set to get a root canal in January of the next year. Didnt get an appointment date, never got a call again, and within 6 months of my last visit every single bit of work that was done had fallen out. I was never given care instructions, was never told how to best make sure to preserve what I could of my teeth, and every single time I came in the doctor pretended to care just long enough to ask how I was doing before shoving tools in my mouth. This review is only showing up now, because after 2+ years of no contact, care, concern, or trying to get more of my money, guess who randomly remembered Im supposedly due for a cleaning? I've seen dozens of dentist in my life, some for a few months, some for years. This is the second worst dentist I've ever had the misfortune to let probe my body in some way. Dude's a quack. So when I go in two weeks ago for a crown, I was told incorrectly over the phone what I was to expect for the appt., being told one day for the procedure, and then in person that it would be a two visit process. The doctor, I assume, never introduced herself, asked me and hour later after I was in the room waiting, "are you ready to get this party started?" She then explains I'm going to get a "tree stump," IOWs, a post, I know this from a previous tooth. Tells me I'm going to have a plastic cap for 3 weeks while the crown is being made, and it will be mailed to me, not the office, for the second visit. Red flags galore, over an hour late in seeing I. The room, unprofessional interaction, godawful office space, didn't look remotely current with the equip. Staff coming in and out rummaging for supplies as I waited. No apology for being late. Officer manager quotes me 4 weeks until the second visit, contradicting whomever spoke to me prior. Spider sense, gut feeling, fight or flight, I said no thanks, and left. I went to a different dentist that is out of network and it was well worth the money. Don't skimp just because the dentist is covered by your insurance. Go with who's great, not sure hat obviously felt like to was going to be a horrible experience.

This is hands down the best dental office I have been to. My family has been coming here for over…read more10 years. Brandy is my absolute go-to hygienist. She has a Mississippi accent that makes the drilling, prying and poking always fun and entertaining. I literally look forward to the experience because I know I'll leave the chair with a Hollywood smile. Dr. Lang keeps the atmosphere incredibly relaxed by singing and/or humming while she works on your teeth. She always keeps me feeling relaxed while working on my orangutang teeth. The staff are always inviting when I come in and are prompt to get me scheduled and answer any questions I have. I highly recommend this office....P.S. That is not an actual photo of my teeth :)

While I absolutely love the hygienists and dentists at this office, getting an appointment (or…read morerather, keeping an appointment) is abysmal. I scheduled my 6 month checkup at my last appointment, but they were already scheduling 8 months out (appointment was in February, scheduled next appt for October). I just received a phone call telling me that they need to reschedule my appointment due to the hygienist being scheduled out. The only available appointment is tomorrow, which I cannot take due to work. The next available appointment isn't until FEBRUARY. This is completely unacceptable, that due to NO FAULT of mine, I am not able to have my regularly scheduled appointment. I have requested numerous times to speak to the office manager, and have been given every excuse in the book as to why she is unavailable. I have been waiting over 3 weeks for a call-back. Dr. Lang, Dr. McClung, Dr. Bello and Dr. Kelly, I hope you all see this review (as well as the others that are almost identical to mine) and understand why your current patients are going elsewhere.

The front desk woman was truly atrocious on the phone. I called to follow up on an appointment I…read morescheduled a week ago, only for her to cut me off mid-sentence with, "That you didn't show up for." Excuse me? I explained I submitted my documentation but never received any kind of confirmation. She claimed calling me once counted as confirmation. I told her, I never got a call. No voicemail, no text, no email. Nothing. Then she hit me with this dramatic little monologue about how "from the bottom of her heart," she's so busy managing her call list and if she had known I wasn't coming, she would've given the spot to someone else on the waitlist. Girl, please. This entire exchange is the perfect example of why we're packing up and heading back to Michigan. In Michigan, they actually confirm your appointment, text, call, email, smoke signal, whatever it takes. If I had gotten a confirmation, I would've been there. I don't miss appointments. And to that front desk woman: If you're reading this, your tone was unacceptable and wildly unprofessional. I genuinely hope you wake up with a mild but persistent inconvenience every single day. Nothing painful, just enough to keep you humble.

However, upon calling the receptionist, I was greeted with sarcasm and hurried responses. I felt like I was being talked down to. At the end of the conversation, I asked if they give tours of their facility. She responded by saying sarcastically, "What, do you want to watch the dentist give a dental exam?" Or something to that effect. I was shocked and embarrassed by her response. I'll keep looking for a new practice.

I guess I will be finding another dentist office for my teeth cleaning. Apparently if you don't…read morerespond via text message by 3pm TWO DAYS before your scheduled appointment, they cancel your appointment. I am very familiar with text/ email reminders, or confirmations of medical appointments, but I have never experienced a policy like this one that literally cancels your appointment two days before. What if people are working or traveling and don't get the message until after 3pm? Also, maybe this was in the fine print, but I was never informed of such a ridiculous policy. I also don't appreciate the limited hours of operation. Maybe it works for a stay at home house wife, but for anyone running a business, or working long hours it's just not convenient, or practical. Another issue is that they require you to pay up front for services, and then you have to wait for your insurance to reimburse you. Another inconvenience. Finally, they have made a lot of investments in new technologies, such as the sonic cleaner and they require/ prefer for you to use the uncomfortable devices, even when you request hand scaling. At my last cleaning I asked the hygienist if she could just do hand scaling because the sonic device is uncomfortable and causes more TMJ pain. Her response was, "why don't we compromise and do half and half." It made me feel pressured to concede, and likely she is being pressured/ encouraged to use this device on patients. I'm sure Coastal Cosmetic Dentistry has plenty of business, and lots of 5 star reviews, but it's hard to imagine that I'm the only patient that's been put out by the items mentioned above. You might want to at least give your patients a heads up that you require a response two days before your scheduled appointment to keep the appointment.

I tried to brush it off and even requested another note put on our accounts to stop lecturing us. Our most recent visits, mine was okay, but they told my 16-year-old son that his teeth are going to fall out if he doesn't start brushing better. I totally get it, but I have never in my life, even as a child, had a dentist tell me my teeth are going to fall out. He was really upset about that and how the visit went overall for him. My 19-year-old son just had his appointment and told me they told him the same thing along with some other negative things, and he was also very upset and scared to death. After sharing my experiences with him about the negativity and constant lecturing, he said he also overheard conversations of patients next to him in which they were being told this is wrong, that is wrong, go see this specialist, etc. I completely understand that we need to know if there are issues with our teeth, but again, in all the dentists I've been to throughout my whole life, I have never, ever experienced such negativity and lecturing as I have with Konikoff over the past four or five years we've been with them. I have to trust my gut instinct in thinking something just isn't right here. We will be canceling our future appointments and seeking care elsewhere. And, no, I don't want to contact the office directly because I've decided our relationship with Konikoff has come to an end.

I am the only person in the reviews who's noticed that the office doesn't answer their phones. You also see my first name clearly at the top of my review. Rather than calling, I went in to see my doctor after a weekend in pain. I was informed "that he was going into a procedure," and the staff member escorted me back to her desk. I explained my issue, which was that from the medicine I was finally prescribed, I had an infection. I had an emergency, and the care I received when I was in the office didn't extend to after-hours.  Providing exceptional customer care and service can't be your top priority when, in fact, your phone calls--I know "customer" calls--go straight to voicemail. I sit in the office at every visit, and I do not hear or see anyone answer a phone call. No one. As the staff member listened to my concerns, in hindsight another staff member (brunette, with a ponytail) came and sat right next to us. Pretending to stare at the computer screen, "being nosey" and "eavesdropping," which was unprofessional, especially when your customer realizes what you were doing. On the contrary, this woman could have been answering the phones. This is a pretty large office, and it looks like they have ample enough staff that could also cover the phones, as in other smaller dental offices with smaller staff. Whenever I ask why phone calls are going directly to voicemail, I get this look as if the individual doesn't know how to answer because I've heard all the lack of excuses. As here, you're telling me to call the office, but you don't answer the phones.
