I'm in town on vacation in the mountains and came into Payson this morning to work remotely, so I needed good coffee, an outlet and wi-fi. First I went to Starbucks, but their internet was so slow I couldnt work. Then I went to McDonalds and their internet was also too slow that I couldnt work. They also don't have outlets on purpose because "The owner owns 25 stores and wanted to save on his electricity bill." Obviously that guy does not care about his customer service. So I came here Common Grounds. The atmosphere is way nice, vintage wood brick, and nice furniture. The coffee is great too. They have all you would want for a coffee shop. So I found my table with an outlet, logged onto the wifi which was sufficiently fast, and I am currently getting my work done. I recommend this place and I will be coming here from now on. read more

Stopped here on the way back to the valley and I have to say the local bee latte is a MUST have. It's the perfect blend of lavender and honey without being too overpowering. I've had many lavender lattes and always hesitate getting them because when done wrong it ruins the beautiful taste of the espresso. This was the best latte I've had with lavender. A must try! While visiting Rim Country, I yelped best coffee in Payson and this little gem popped up. I pass through many times a year and didn't recognize the name Common Grounds. I figured I give a local place a shot instead of going to the nearby Starbucks in town. It is a fairly new coffeehouse that neighbors nearby Expedition Church (who actually started it). Common Grounds seeks to establish meaningful community in the Payson area. The coffeehouse is cozy and very welcoming. The bar is made of a beautiful dark wood and the décor consists of historical photos and a wall with a large painting of the Arizona flag. Outside is a nice shaded patio area with plenty of seating. On the menu, they have a nice selection of coffee, espresso drinks and tea. They also have pastries on hand and free wi-fi. We stopped in for a bit and really enjoyed our time here. The staff was friendly and our drinks were made just right. One of things I like about this place is that they donate their profits to local charities and organizations within the Payson area. They are all about giving back to the local neighborhood and I'm always a huge fan of businesses that invest in their surrounding community. I also love that their cups say "neighborhood coffee house" on them. My only gripe was that we came on a Sunday afternoon and parking was very limited because of church going on. But overall this is a really nice addition to the Payson area. read more

Found this on Yelp and wanted some real coffee after driving cross county and surviving on bland gas station coffee. So glad I did as the place is cute with great outside dog friendly patio. I tired The Georgia and some strawberry rhubarb bunt cake they had and both were excellent. It will definitely be my place to stop from now on when going through Payson. read more

Poor customer service, and just rude. The employee didn't acknowledge my wife and I, which didn't bother us at first. We noticed mugs hanging from the wall that appeared to be for sale. So, my wife and I began to look at the mugs in anticipation of buying one. While looking at the mugs this male walked in removed two of the mugs, one of which my wife was viewing and placed the mug behind the counter. The employee and then served this male and the two had a conversation. The employee never cared or had interest to serve my wife and I, likely because they didn't feel we were from the area. If you're not from this town I wouldn't recommend going here. I found the experience to be rude and off putting. My wife and I left and got our morning coffee elsewhere. It's sad because it is a nice coffee shop and has a lot of potential. read more

Stopped here on our way up to Winslow as it was one of the only coffee shops in town. The outdoor area is spacious and adorable and the shop was easy to find on google maps. The baked goods here are SO DELICIOUS I couldn't make up my mind on what to try so I got the stuffed s'mores cookie and the oat bar. The cookie was even better than it looked, but I haven't tried the oat bar yet. I also ordered an oat milk latte and that was a 10/10. Lavender is a big thing. From scones to tea and chai latte. Unfortunately when I was there Saturday morning, they were out of lavender everything (and I didn't get to try lavender hot chocolate) so all I got was a lavender scone and a chai latte. The scone didn't have too much flavor. A hint of lavender which was fragrant but I wish there was a bit more taste to it. Chai latte was good flavor is different from the typical Starbucks, and it was quite sweet. The cafe is pretty spacious. Has wifi, some work stations if you're planning to be productive. Small tables for more intimate conversations. And wide sitting area outside as well. I'd come back once it's lavender season again! read more
