This is my happy place, a sanctuary of health and wellness, an adult playground I just love this…read moreplace. I joined this gym in January and its the best investment I've made this year, im a shitty day trader so thats not saying much. The Yoga studios are so peaceful and the instructors are all masters. Notably Jason Morris hot yoga classes are energizing and therapeutic, he is such a Guru Ive learned so much about anatomy and making a mind body connection that it spills over into weight training. Luliias voice is so soothing and her classes are so fun, the Friday class specially feels like everyone is connected Gigis class is super cool on Sundays it should be renamed Juicy Yoga with Gigi lol, shes so funny and connects with everyone, the class feels like cuddles after sex. Spin with Juggy and Melora is elite. Ive gotten so much faster in my road bike after just a few classes. Functional training with Nyerre Mays is un-unreal. He is such a cool dude and such a Pro. The pool is epic, the Jacuzzi forget about it. The entire staff is super friendly and makes everyone feel super welcomed. I truly feel at home whenever I make it to the gym. The MVPs of the gym are the cleaning staff though, everything is so spotless all the time. In a city so chaotic is nice to have this peaceful oasis.

I thought I was going to have a better experience here over other places. Today made me think otherwise. Thank you.

It is hard to understand why because there are usually a bunch of attendants sitting around in the front at 11am but they never open the entrance gate til around 11:15/11:20am. Sometimes they have to wait for the police attendant to come. Once they do open, it is pretty fast to get inside. They look to make sure you have a lock. They require you to rinse off before going into the pool. On the deck, they don't allow you to wear anything besides a bathing suit or a white tee and flip flops. Not supposed to bring food, books or cell phone out.

The staff makes sure to harass you as much as they can, you aren't allowed to have fun, they have a problem with everything, no running, no jumping, no holding on to each other while swimming, phones must be in the locker and cannot be used in the pool deck. The kiddie pool was closed on this day I visited because someone shit in it. I actually read in the news that they closed the entire pool the week before on one of the hottest days of the summer because someone shit in it. Google it if you don't believe me. The atmosphere has definitely improved, but not worth coming here again since the staff likes to make sure that they manage every little detail and impose each and every rule upon you. You really can't have fun at this pool, everything is a problem, literally my 4 year old daughter was holding on to me while swimming, they said "No holding on to each other while swimming." This place has potential but as long as it's ran by the NYC Parks and recreation it will always be a toilet.

I visited Asphalt Green to drop in for lap swimming…read more The facilities are clean and bright. The pool has lots of windows and natural light. I was kind of intimidated, because I don't get to lap swim very often. I wound up sharing the lane with 2 or 3 other people. Everyone was really friendly and communicative regarding lane-sharing. Would definitely go back for a swim. The only thing I would change is add more time slots available for adult lap swimming.

For what it's worth, I indeed noticed that the steam room has been closed for as long as I remember like other reviews pointed out. The pool is very sizable, and its length (25m) is perfect for lap swimming. It is very well maintained and I never had a problem with the condition of the pool. I swam a lot and this pool definitely satisfied my need for exercise. I had 2 issues with the experience with the pool. Firstly, I think the staff on the pool could do a better job at coordinating swimmers of different speeds in different lanes. Sometimes, you will have relatively slower swimmers chilling and floating around in fast lanes, which could be a pain for faster swimmers, and vice versa. On some days, the staff will coordinate and direct slow and fast swimmers to different lanes, but not always. In this case, you have to communicate with your fellow swimmers on the same lane, which is fine, but some days you just want to get in the pool, finish up your swim target, and get out, without worrying about bumping into people in the same lane. Secondly, there are definitely rush hours which the pool gets super crowded. It is quite often that I would have to share a lane with 3 other swimmers. And I recall I once had to share a lane with 5 other swimmers, though this is pretty rare. The new pool that I switched to requires scheduling in advance and allow only a maximum of 2 people in the same lane, which I like a lot. During COVID, AG also required scheduling, and I think there was a 3 people limit per lane, which I love, but that ended. These are minor inconveniences that did not hurt my experience. Overall I am pretty happy with what I got from my membership with AG. Also, the billing team has been wonderful, especially Josh and Nick. They helped me multiple times during my 3 years+ of membership with setting up my account, switching between different membership types, helping with my adhoc requests, and eventually canceling my membership. They were very responsive and helpful and made everything very easy for me.

It was an enjoyable evening. What was remarkably with the company is I was running late (damn you MTA!) and my friends spoke with organizer who actually gave a ten minute grace! I made it within that window and I was able to enjoy the play. I thanked the lady after but I'm so sorry I didn't get her name to publicly thank her here. Taking pics of course is frowned upon but when has that ever stopped me. Building was clean and looked well kept. 14th street Y's staff was very friendly and welcoming. I'll definitely consider attending other events here. The End.

One of the gym class rooms ( yoga room) , gets used for childcare a large part of the day so gym members have no access. The pool Alot of the classes conflict with one another so you can only do one class - not that there are so many classes each day. Sign up is confusing as the schedule page lists classes for multiple facilities. There are no tvs which even planet fitness at $9 a month has! Staff is generally nice. The aerobics classes have only 5 lb weights at most, consisting of sand bags which leak. Few aerobics classes except 2 ( with IVY ,which are great) but management declines to add more because supposedly they seek to "trend younger". Yes ageism is alive and well at this Y! They forgot that it was the older folks who kept their membership throughout the pandemic and kept it from going bankrupt. Sad because it could be better run.
