Let's dig in deeper: 1- When we checked in, I called the front desk to let them know that there was a lot of noise outside our room from the bar across the street from the hotel. I also requested extra blankets and pillows since we are a family of five with three kids. It took more than 24 hours to get us switched to another room. Also, when I went down to get the extra blankets and pillows, the front desk told me that they were out. I said to myself " the first thing the very same employee cared about when we walked in is to put a hold on my card for the room that is supposed to sleep 4-6 people, but when it came to supplying very needed blankets and pillows since, a quick answer came loudly "we are out!" The front desk never asked if we needed help with our luggage or bags. 2- The continental breakfast was another dance! Stations were constantly not clean. Food ran out frequently and I know I had to ask for more milk, fruits and orange juice because those items ran out quickly. It was the same exact food 4 days in a row. Not a single change 3- The pool was not clean with scattered tree leaves in it. 4- The room we were switched to was filthy with food debris or vomit on the curtains. (Picture attached). The mattress on both beds were hard and not comfortable at all. 5- The front desk employee who checked us out did not seem to be happy to be there. He seemed distracted and bothered at the same time. He was annoyed that I asked for my receipt! 6- During our 4-day stay at the Comfort Inn, our room was never cleaned once. 7- I can not believe this hotel has a 4 point something rating based on customer's reviews but I am convinced that at least 65% of the positive reviews for Comfort Inn Talking Stick in Scottsdale, AZ are either fake or posted by employees and/or their affiliates. I am surprised at all the low reviews - my sister and I liked this hotel! It was exactly what we needed - the room was clean, beds were comfy, so many spaces throughout the room like the small table, desk, couch. We were on the second floor. The pool and jacuzzi were great - we had them to ourselves for a while! The room has a mini fridge and microwave. There were several lamps and sources of light. The staff was friendly! The breakfast was a nice touch - I know most hotels offer a complimentary breakfast, but I usually don't participate because of my food allergy. We went down & I got an orange juice and a coffee. They had options like egg and cheese omelette, ready to pour waffle mix, oatmeal, cereal, muffins, toast, tea, etc. I felt like the vibe was super easygoing and everyone was just doing their thing. I have stayed here a couple times in the past with my pets. Fee was $25 per Pet but they would waive it to &10. Called tonight since booking on Expedia to confirm pet policy. Lady who answered was rude to begin with and then hung up on me when I asked a question. Sorry to say but choice hotels in general have really lowered their standards. WORST HOTEL EXPERIENCE. Last year, I stayed at this hotel. It was called COMFORT SUITES OLD TOWN SCOTTSDALE which on Yelp has 2.1 stars out of 5....which indicates a very poor rating. The last Yelp review they have is from 3 months ago. PLEASE READ THEIR YELP & GOOGLE reviews before booking this hotel. I'd rather sleep in my car than stay here. It's the same location. I booked a room this year and the name is now HOTEL SCOTTSDALE. Last year, the key to my room wouldn't work. My room was on the 3rd floor. I had a lot of things in my hand so it was monumentally frustrating for me to come back down and ask the front desk person to fix this. She said the issue had been resolved after she gave me another card and I went back up to my room and it wouldn't open. I came back down upset and she seemed shocked that I was upset. I left this hotel a poor review. This year I booked a hotel with a different name and when I got there, I saw that it was the same hotel. I walked in and it was the same woman working the front desk. She said I'm on their DO NOT RENT list. So I walked out. I read on Google reviews that others had been denied bookings as well. It's very poor business practice to blacklist customers for menial reasons. I wonder if this hotel will go bankrupt soon. Now, a better-managed hotel would try to mend the situation by reaching out to frustrated customers. The issue that happened last year wasn't my fault, and when I came to the front desk, I didn't yell nor use foul language, but I guess some are easily offended by their own incompetence and blacklist customers when they aren't educated enough to handle the situation. I have many choices for hotels and immediately booked another hotel. I'm not sure why this hotel changed their name but whoever manages this hotel is unequivocally incompetent. A hotel should place someone on their DO NOT RENT list if that person has committed a crime on their property, not voiced their frustration for their room key not working, TWICE, when they're on the 3rd floor. A DISGRACEFUL, DISTASTEFUL, INCOMPETENT, INFERIOR response by a poorly-managed hotel. I guess they think they can do business post-COVID and blacklist anyone who points out the hotel's flaws. By changing their hotel name, their poor management style hasn't changed, which is unfortunate. A more educated person learns from their mistakes. I ABSOLUTELY do NOT recommend this poorly-managed hotel to ANYONE because I was BLACKLISTED for complaining cordially about the room card not working and voicing my concern on Yelp. A little dated, but a whole lotta comfortable! The Comfort Inn & Suites of Scottsdale served my needs well when it came to spending an early fall weekend here for business. The room was what I expected with cleanliness & space, the breakfast items were sufficient, and the location was within walking distance to restaurants (i.e., Lolo's Chicken & Waffles) and other venues. When I mention "dated", this hotel isn't terrible. There are really a few noticeable things within the room that aren't of terrible concern, yet you can tell that the property has a bit of age to it. This includes mainly some of the cushion furnishings within the suite, as well as the bathroom. It really isn't terrible, yet it is noticeable. The property has already started replacing carpet, and the new padding that has already inserted has made carpeting by the entry doors a bit tight to open and close. Nonetheless, its a start. Excellent customer service, BTW. Kudos to Sarah for providing exceptional customer service, and yielding a vibe that really allows you to feel welcome at this property. I had a particularly irritating experience with the young gal working the front desk. I arrived in Scottsdale around 11am and planned to drop my bags off at the hotel before hitting a 1pm baseball game. However, the front desk employee refused to watch our bags claiming "there was no more room". When we proposed to hold the bags in the breakfast room, which is closed to the public, she again refused. She said we could leave our bags out in the open lobby, but "wasn't responsible for any lost or stolen bags". This went on for 10 mins, with her attitude becoming more smug and disrespectful by the minute. I would've slapped her if it was socially acceptable. We left, fuming, and walked to the holiday inn next door. They graciously agreed to hold our bags despite us not even staying there. Aside from this, the hotel is pretty mediocre. 2/5 stars for both service and quality. read more

Had a last min visit in Scottsdale and needed a place to stay. They had the lowest rate in the area so I decided to take the chance! To my surprise the room was nice with plenty of features, microwave, fridge, safe, etc. Bathroom and carpet needed some updating but the AC worked good and the bed was like heaven! Complimentary breakfast and coffee was a nice start to my day. Parking was very close to my room and the area was walking distance to shopping and dining, a win win! read more

Having not been to the area for a number of years, my wife and I opted to book through 'Choice Hotels', believing corporate standards would ensure a minimum level of both cleanness and service; however, we found that assumption to be incorrect... We stayed at the 'Comfort Suites Old Town Scottsdale' from Dec 4th through Dec 8th... With exception of the gentleman who checked us out, we found the front desk representatives (2nd shift) lacked any apparent desire to assist, be it local information (ie restaurants/directions) or to address concerns (ie leaking toilet and mold growths).... Upon check in and throughout our stay, the room itself had an active water leak at the commode supply line and continuous drip of the bath faucet... In addition, the cleanliness was noted to be extremely poor, not only evidenced by what appeared to be mold, mushrooms and other micro bacterial growths on the walls, but also dirt/dust on the vanity itself and loose debris on the carpet which appeared to have been un-vacuumed... As to the rooms physical condition, partially repaired holes and pealing paint were noted both in the main room and adjacent bath area... Although we booked and paid for the room with a credit card through the motels loyalty program, at checkin an additional imprint was required for incidentals/security deposit... We complied with that request only to be notified by our bank of a $150 charge before we had a chance to actually enter the room... I returned to the front desk both questioning the charge and to advise of the leak and overall room condition, only to be told "Ya, that's what we do, you'll get it back in 10-15 days after checkout if your room it ok", and "I'll tell housekeeping about your room"... The following day, we returned to our room after dinner, to find no apparent steps had been taken to address the leak, drip or cleanliness... I again went to the front desk, at which time it was very apparent my concerns had no baring, and I was again told housekeeping would be advised... The evening of the third night, we again had a similar experience with both a finding of no attempt to resolve the issues, or concern in our ongoing requests... Per a notice posted in the room 'For Longer stays, service is provided after every 3rd night. To request a more frequent service, please contact the front desk before 11AM.' We assumed the room would be serviced and the concerns addressed; however, we were again mistaken, as our room was neither serviced nor repaired... When I returned to the front desk, I was told the lack of service was my fault, as I failed to request it be cleaned!!! I immediately asked when the manager would be arriving the following morning so I could address the ongoing concerns, only to be advised the property had no manager... I asked to have someone from management contact me, confirmed they had both my phone and email address, and was given a hand written noted which I later found to be an incorrect email address for an offsite supervising manager... At checkout, we requested a refund of the $150 charge, along with a credit for an additional charge related to an in room safe (see pic from room documentation)... While we received no credit for the safe (As promised on the in room documentation), we were handed a credit slip and advised a refund would be issued of the $150 charge... In addition, I again expressed my concern with the motel to the representative and showed him pictures of the leak, the mold and related concerns, to which to which he showed no surprise or concern... In sum, this was one of the worst experiences we've had at what should be a mainstream chain motel... As frequent travelers and members of loyalty programs at various chains, I can say I seldom raise concerns, but when done they have always been immediately addressed.... Given the condition of the room, the lack of concern on the part of the staff, and the refusal to allow contact with those supervising, I would strongly recommend avoiding this property, and likely all Choice Hotels in the area.... ** I plan to post this review on various sites... Good for the price. The front desk was very friendly and was very accommodating. The check in process was fast. There are different size of rooms, regular and suites. The suites are just the same amenities as the regular rooms but a little bit bigger. My two complaints about the hotel were that the bathtub wasnt as clean as I like, there were grim and residue on the knob and the bottom of the tub. Also the internet cuts out intermittently. Other than that, the bed was very comfortable and I had an excellent night of sleep. The breakfast is also better than most choice hotels in that they have half cut grapefruits in the fridge on top of the normal items like eggs, waffles, yogurts, cereal, etc. This location does not have express check out so you dont get your receipt in the night under your door. Excellent customer service. Management is on the dot with hearing any feelings or concerns. We may not have had the most ideal experience, we certainly had a restful sleep and a comfortable refresher before heading home from TX. Would absolutely return. Nice indoor pool, great service during a pandemic, good location, clean and tidy rooms, up to date renovations. I recommend staying here only I would suggest you bring plenty of snacks and utilize the mini fridge during Arizona summer. read more

Can't beat the location or price. Easy walking distance to the baseball stadium and everything Old Town has to offer. Hotel is a little run down. My hair dryer didn't work, several electrical outlets didn't work, phone had issues and carpet needed a cleaning. But again, you are in a great spot for a terrific price. Things were a little raggedy inside, but never really nasty - but it could use some touch-up and better cleaning. But we felt very comfy in the room and enjoyed it. Good hot shower, coffee maker, fridge etc during Spring Training and for a long weekend we paid about $120 a night? (reservations months in advance though). Walking distance to the ballpark and two breakfast places and a 7/11, and even to Old Town if you're hardy. Indoor pool, no thanks. Free 'breakfast' very nice. Rooms were updated minus the bathroom, but typical updates of a new bedspread and TV. Carpets look like they haven't seen a vacuum or a shampoo in years. Shower was gross. I hate to describe him ny his nationality, however he would not provide his name. We checked in on 12/31/2020-01/01/21. We called the front desk to ask foe additional blankets as we booked a suite with a pulled out bed. He was extremely rude and asked us to come to the lobby as he was busy. I prepaid for my room thinking I would get the best deal. The day of check in I see the room going for 25 dollars cheaper , so I asked for them to match the price. I was told they can't do it ? Then asked again the next day and was told that they don't do that. Once you pay ahead of time thats what you pay? The room was old and for a hotel that rooms get cleaned regularly I was surprised to see the bathroom as dirty as it was. Had toothpaste on the sink wall. I will post pics of how the bathroom looked. Breakfast was just ok. We decided to just eat out the second day. The indoor pool and hot tub was nice and having the second hot tub outside was great. After reading a lot of the negative complaint at this hotel I wasn't surprised to notice that there wasn't one remark apologizing about any problems guest may of had. I would give this hotel a zero if that were an option. This hotel canceled my reservation. Did not call to ask me any questions before doing so. The night clerk was amazingly rude when she got to the desk after we had waited over 15 mins literally calling the desk trying to get someone. Then she appears and says she was handling a guest complaint. At this point I've noticed the hotel smells and has no guest furniture of any kind. There strikes already. Then she accuses me of credit card fraud and will not let me make arrangements for a Lyft in the hotel. Literally calls the police for my sons and I standing on the curb trying to get a Lyft and hotel at 10:45pm. She gives no real explanation and won't give me credit card info. Ok, this is a normal hotel that is fine if you just need somewhere to stay near the stadium, just be ready for disappointment. For starters, on the yelp site, you can clearly see a waffle machine in the breakfast area, but in real life, you will find it off to the side and away from everyone. Not really sure why, laziness is my guess as the front desk lady when we arrived was extremely short and rude with us. My little brother had to go to the bathroom after a long car ride and she said there wasn't any available in the lobby because of "cOvId". Man stfu, we all know that you are just too lazy to clean the bathroom, be real bozo. Also, there is no room service, when you ask for common things that you might want in a hotel like a pillow, they tell you to come to the lobby and get yourself. Once again, laziness. I will try to keep opinions out and just state the facts. If you are really looking for budget accommodations, this will work. However, if you are used to the usual hotel experience, I will say that this will likely not be it. Walking in the door, not much of a greeting from the very young staff. The front lobby is bare bones. The hallway carpets are old and stained. The supposed Continental Breakfast is only packaged granola bars and warmed Jimmy Dean sausage sandwiches in a small heated case. The room was okay except for the bathroom which had mildew on ceiling, not one extra roll of toilet paper and the best part....a cockroach walking the counter. When I called the front desk for toilet paper, the response was "you can come down and get some". read more

It's disappointing to write this review. I tried to resolve it by telephone but to no avail. First germane to know that I am the GM of two Choice Hotels & my partner is the front desk manager at another one. We do not work together, rather between us we work at e different Chocie properties. It is tired and run down but when a hotel is clean or service is good it makes up for a lot. In this case is was moderately clean BUT SERVICE SUCKED. I have muscular dystrophy and have a service animal. Kia (sp.?) is the worst. Represents herself as manager will not come out of her office, rude on the phone and has violated my federal civil rights by charging for my service animal. I'm on hold with CHOICE now to try and get matter resolved. If I post this review it means CHOICE help line did nothing. If this gets resolved you'll never see this review. This property could benefit from reading my book (google it) and some good intense customer service training. After 30 years in hotel business I was astonished at the level of BAD & DISRESPECTFUL customer service. Need Choice points? Try a different Choice property in town. The Cambria Scottsdale is lovely...but avoid at all cost this dumpy, poorly run hotel. read more

My bathroom had pee on the ground next to the toilet when I checked in and I unfortunately didn't see it until it soaked one of my clothing items. The shower was disgusting and had pink alge and hair in the tub. I didn't even shower because of how nasty it was. The wifi was down my entire stay and I had to use cellular data. The room was filthy and it hadn't been cleaned. There was pee on the toilet seat, the bathroom door had brown spots dripped down it, the mirrors had spots all over them, the bench had some kind of white smudge, the couch had stains all over it. The pool was dirty and cloudy, there was no soap in the room, the TVs did not work. Basically this hotel is nothing like any other comfort inn we have ever stayed in and we travel therefore we have been all over the is and have stayed in multiple comfort inn. The staff have given up on this hotel and don't even bother to keep it clean. After reading other reviews I made sure my kids, husband and I slept in our clothes on top of the sheets because we were worried hat the sheets were not changed in between guests. The room got for this Comfort Suites hotel was huge. I may not need 3 sinks in the room but it added the apartment feel to the room. The couch with leg extension was good for leg rest. Location can't be beat and price was pretty good, but that's where the pros end. First of all, I had an evening flight the day I checked out and wanted to explore Old Town, so I asked the front desk if they could just store my luggage so I wouldn't have to carry it around all day. They said no because they didn't want to be liable. I've never experienced that at a hotel, ever, period. And the latest checkout they could offer was 12PM (increased from 11AM). I ended up having to lug my suitcase (thankfully only 1 bag) around Old Town in the summer. Ridiculous. Also, wifi service was horrible. read more

Pleasant stayed and good experience during our 3 day stay. One of the continental breakfast ladies was super friendly and shared a great positive attitude. It's clean, basic and affordable for the area. It has a little gym and a small pool with spa, but they're clean and enjoyable. I would have given it 5 Stars if I didn't think that the carpeting and floors could use a good upgrade or deep cleaning through the hallways and perhaps the rooms. We checked into the hotel, but absolutely could not stay here. Hallways were dirty, and the room was terrible. Chipped paint, stained carpet and couch, old furniture, definitely in need of a complete remodel. Thankfully, the receptionist was very nice and refunded us our money.
