When searching for a hotel, one must take a few things into consideration: location, price (duh!)...but probably the most overlooked detail of all: Overall Yelp reviews. That's how I found this place (in Hagerstown, no less. where's Hagerstown anyway?). And I definitely do NOT regret staying here! There's actually a sort of funny story as to how I ended up here whilst the rest of my extended family stayed in a separate hotel 25 miles away in a town called Frederick, which wasn't ranked as high on Yelp; but definitely cost my uncle around $80 more to book for the same number of nights as I stayed at this hotel. So that's my first superfluously articulated kudos to this place right there. But wait...it gets better. The room I stayed in was super spacious, clean and had probably the most comfortable bed I've slept in since sleeping on my thousand dollar Sleep Number mattress. Plus, it had all the necessary amenities one would come to expect in any given hotel: fridge, microwave and coffee maker to boot. I only used the fridge, as my stay was extremely short. But trust me...you'd be surprised to find there are a few hotels out there without some of these basic things. And...you guessed it...they cost more. My one regret is that I never really got the chance to try out the complimentary breakfast here because I was honestly too tired to get my happy ass out of bed before 10am (or 9am on that one Friday). But it still felt good to know I hand picked this place all on my own and didn't have to spend nearly as much money as my old folks did at the Country Inn and Suites hotel in Frederick. Oh, speaking of which.. I actually DID check out enough of that place to leave a review for it. Unfortunately, I never thought to check into that place so that I could make it legit (OCD problems. don't ask). So I'll just leave an anecdotal version of a review within a review to say: that place didn't impress me nearly as much as Comfort Suites. The rooms seemed more cramp, as did the lobby. Also, it seemed as if this place was located in a dubious spot, as they took on the bizarre ritual of locking their front door after 10pm. Their FRONT door. And this is a hotel...designed to stay open 24/7. Just....let the implications of that sink in for a bit. And no...the place I stayed at didn't need to lock their front door like this. This time around, I was attending my brother's wedding and hand picked this place because it was a mere 15 minutes from said wedding. Since it would appear my brother will be living here for the foreseeable future, I will most definitely seek out this exact same hotel, should I ever decide to visit Hagerstown again. As it stands, I can easily give Comfort Suites 4 plushy king sized beds out of 5. read more

It is what it is. No upscale brand. I have posted pictures, keep in mind, it's no Hilton, they allow pets, and we did not ask for the room to be recleaned. We were tired from traveling and didn't want to deal with that. We stayed here because we were traveling with a pet and no other hotel near by allowed pets. We rented 3 rooms, 2 double queens for our daughters and their families, one king pet room for us. Cons - Pet rooms stink,stink,stink!! We had to buy lysol and candles to burn to get the smell to a tolerable level. We have stayed in many rooms that allow pets, this one was BAD. Upkeep of the rooms is not so good...please view pictures. Pros - our king pet room was quite large, comfy bed, with a decent size fridge. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Breakfast area was large, with many food choices. Close to a grocery store and fast food. The pool was clean and the temperature of the water was good. Hotel is nice and convenient to locations by car. For health and safety the hotel has closed the pool and fitness center; which has one treadmill and a weight set. Three stars for keeping advertised amenities listed on the website. We are nearing March 2022, let's stop pretending to wear our mask and keeping fitness center closed. read more

This hotel, which is clean and spacious, has a great breakfast provided safely in a large area. Unlike many hotels right now it is not using Covid as an excuse to provide a skimpy grab n go that might be more accurately described as "grab n go to the nearest restaurant", a mighty inconvenience if you like a decent breakfast before getting on the road. read more

While on a recent 7-day road trip north, we stayed at 3 separate Comfort Inn/Comfort Suites. We chose this chain because it has a pet friendly policy. There are specific floor/area for dogs. The first two CI's we stayed in were very clean. In fact, the pet room in Kannapolis Virginia was particularly well maintained with no evidence of previous animal tenants. That was not the case in Hagerstown, MD. Upon entering room 137 our small dog immediately began going from spot to spot sniffing the uncarpeted floor. The room had 2 beds. The bed I chose made me itch all night. When we got to our destination my husband looked at my back and saw a dozen bites all up and down my spine and back of my neck. Our dog had also began scratching up a storm. I called the hotel to let them know to fumigate the room for flees. If you get room 137, ask to make sure the room has been de-fleed. read more

The positives: very friendly service upon check-in, very roomy and comfortable lobby (much more so than most Choice Hotel properties), comfortable beds and large suite with plenty of room for four. Negatives: old thermostat with no temperature controls, tiny TV with no HD, a very small and dirty pool that was cold (keep in mind it's indoors) with the hot tub non-functioning (son was very disappointed) and very poor breakfast - again by Choice Hotel standards. The biggest issue, however, was dirtiness and smell. Upon entering the basement level (we had our small dog with us and apparently that's the floor where pet owners stay) the first thing you could smell coming off the elevator was cat urine. We stopped here after some how managing to escape the beltway during rush hour. The lobby was well lit & open, not like one would expect at a hotel off the highway. The desk clerk was polite and helpful. The room itself was huge. I felt the price was more than reasonable for one night. They have free wifi and breakfast 7 days a week, though it runs an hour later on weekends. As mentioned in the other review, it does get a little dark in the showers. Housekeeping even waited until a respectable hour to show up unlike some (much nicer) hotels I've stayed in. I would stay here again and probably another of the the same chain. read more

Perspective - Well done for a Comfort Suits So is it a 5 star? Well, it this a Ritz Carlton? No. So this is a rating for comparable brands to include some of the Marriott brands. This place did have a really nice lobby and pool area. The staff was nice. The rooms were a bit small and the beds, at least in my room, were a bit outdated. That being said, I would take it over most of the hotel chains that were around the area. So am I a fan for all Comfort Suites (not to be confused with Comfort Inn), well they have been investing and doing a great job. So in this area, for this market, yes, I am a fan. read more

This hotel was a second choice when we were turned away from another close by. What a great hotel!! The room was extremely comfortable. There were plenty of towels and supplies. The hotel staff was nice. Because of this experience, I may make Choice Hotels my primary hotel chain when I travel. read more

This was my family's first stop on our drive from NY to FL for our big move. Upon entering the hotel, I was taken aback by the beautiful lobby and the fireplace. It was beautiful. The gentleman that was at the front desk was very helpful - he notified me of when breakfast was served in the morning, and he was also helpful in showing us where we could park, as we were towing a Uhaul trailer. Once we got to our room it was very nice. It was spacious. We had a 2 double bed suite, and I really like how they had the room set up. I specifically booked it with a refrigerator and microwave, though I think all rooms come with those. The bathroom was bigger then most, and the sink was in the same room as the toilet and shower, unlike some other hotels I've stayed at. All in all, it was a good stay. We were right on the first floor, so it was easy access to breakfast. The breakfast was good! They had eggs and bacon, along with other breads, yogurt, juices, coffee, cereal, etc. I'd definitely stay here again. read more

We stayed here for a wedding Memorial Day weekend and really enjoyed the location, the lobby, the rooms, and the staff. Front desk staff was always very accommodating and patient with our group even as we congregated in the lobby several times. Rooms were clean, rates were good, and the layout of the hotel suited our group's needs well. read more

Spend the extra $20 and go down to the Hampton inn. Just checked in and heater blew out a big cloud of dust. Bathroom looks like it was barley even whipped down. Hair on the pillows of the bed. Getting one star because bed does seem very comfortable. read more

This is our second time booking travel stop-overs here and for the second time we were disappointed the pool was out of service. Do I want to swim in a pool that is in disrepair? No! Do I want to pay more money for a hotel I thought had a functioning pool when I could have paid less somewhere else, only to find out when we get there it's out of service again? NO again! TV picture quality was terrible also. Other than that, clean and spacious room, comfortable bed, bathroom fan was super loud. Check in quick, free HOT breakfast... a few ups, a couple of downs- not Hilton caliber but then too you're not paying Hilton prices. read more

80 bucks for me, my wife, 3 kids and breakfast is included??? What?!?! Fantastic. This was perfect for our half-way stopping point from a drive back from South Carolina to Boston. The pool was clean and a very acceptable temperature. The rooms were very clean and the drain in the bath was not clogged! Honestly, you can't beat this for the price. Most comfortable beds, sit-down continental breakfast with large selection (make your own waffles!), indoor pool, exercise equipment, large welcoming lobby with grand fireplace, least hotelly decor of any place I've ever stayed and they are environmentally conscious! I thought I would be paying a dear price for all these amenities (my room also had a sofa and coffee table and microwave) but when they told me $70 a night, I nearly fell over. Oh yes, their cable plan also includes AMC which is something many other lodging chains do not offer, so all you Mad Men fans out there, this is your place! read more

Wanting to get out of DC before Monday rush hour, we opted to drive an hour north Sunday evening and stay here. This is an impressive Comfort Suites. A lovely lobby area with a fireplace greets you as you enter. A business center and large breakfast area are also in the lobby. The rooms are large, clean and nicely furnished. The only quibble we had with the room was the shower had no overhead light, so was a bit dim in there. Breakfast offerings had a nice selection; I had a croissant, yogurt and coffee and was ready for the day. They will add a $1 safe charge to your bill; ask and it will be removed. Would stay here again in a heartbeat...great! read more

I thought the overall experience at this hotel was great, especially for the price. Check-in was quick and easy. The room was surprisingly nice and enjoyable. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was great. That's really all we needed for this overnight stay to jump back on the road in the morning. I will have to advise to stay away from their eggs and sausages for breakfast (not good and low quality). We arrived late at night and the back door was unlocked. Also, my key would not open the fitness center. Outside of those minor inconveniences, the staff was friendly and the hotel was great. read more

After taking a wrong turn into a worse looking hotel. I was very glad to see this one. The lobby is great and so are the staff. The room looked and was great! They have free TV, Wi-Fi, and breakfast. The only thing close to bad the poor lighting in the shower and the annoying fan in the bathroom. I hope to go back on my way back down to North Carolina! read more

It was terribly dirty. They did not clean the beds AT ALL. There were a bunch of little hairs on the bed sheets and pillows. On one of the pillows, there were even some weird looking stains that were a red/orange color. GROSS. Definitely will NOT be coming back and I definitely do NOT recommend. read more

The rooms we clean and comfortable. The pool area is not well cared for. The spa has been out of order with no plans to get it fixed. The pool is not heated, but is indoors. The water was bearable but cold. Breakfast was just there - nothing special. The hotel is adequate, with the rooms being the highlight. read more

We were pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Price was right, the rooms were very large, complimentary breakfast, a small pool free wifi etc. my wife forgot her toothbrush and the front desk gave her a complimentary one. If I could make one suggestion for improvement it would be better eggs for breakfast. Honestly though, they had pancakes, waffles, cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit etc. We will be stopping here again in the future as a half way point for our trips to NC. read more

Best hotel I've had the opportunity to stay in , in a long time. Very clean, great complimentary breakfast ! The guy at the front desk ( I believe his name was Edward) was so polite and accommodating! I'm sure we all looked exhausted! He was super sweet and kind to my kids. He let us have some juice and asked if my kids could have a mint. Breakfast the next morning was great! The lady working there that was taking care of the breakfast was working hard and was very sweet and kind to my kids ! Very nice place to stay, we'd stay there again! read more

After driving for 6 hours from Columbus, Ohio, it was time to pull over at 2:00am. The gentleman at the front desk was friendly and recognizing the weary looks on our faces had room keys for us in no time. The room was "roomy" (certainly larger than what we needed) and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was a nice size and the water pressure was fantasic. In some of the other reviews I saw some "annoying" bathroom fan comments - its really no different than the fan you would have at home. Free wi-fi, plenty of outlets for chargers (including direct usb hookups), and its location directly off the highway make this a great hotel (at a very reasonable price)! read more

What a terrible experience. First, they are pet friendly but there's no information on their website about their fees and you can't book a pet friendly room online. Second, the toilet in our room was broken. They thought it was user error....after they tried themselves and realized it was actually broken. Lastly, and WORST, the room the room they put us in had fleas! About an hour after we noticed a little bug on the bed....it jumped and I immediately realized it was fleas. After searching our dog (who is treated monthly with flea preventative), they were all over her! By this time it was 1am. The hotel moved us 2 doors down. After giving the dog a bath it was 2am and we had no choice but to stay. I complained on checkout but nothing was done except to refund our pet fee....which wasn't even enough to cover the cost of the frontline needed to kill the fleas on our dog. Do NOT stay here. The whole hotel has got to be infested and they aren't going to do anything about it. read more

Stayed here two nights, with check out this morning. The entry and front desk area appears nice, greeted by a pleasant employee that actually seemed to enjoy her job and was quickly given our key cards and given a description of the property. Noted that the pool was out of service for repair although nothing appeared to be in a state of repair during our stay, just closed (indoor pool). Room was clean, with decent furnishings. Bed was comfortable, television is mind-numbingly slow to change channels. No HBO/Showtime or other movie channels offered. Wifi was a bit slow whenever utilized. The heater/AC unit is extremely loud, even on the lowest setting. The breakfast was not good. Eggs were bland, sausage and french toast sticks under cooked. The sausage and gravy has an odd sour taste. While overall it seems like an okay place, if you are at all used to staying at nicer locations, it will be quite a let down. In this category I continue to prefer Holiday Inn Express which this location can not compete with in current condition. read more
