My mother fell a few months ago for the 6th time in 6 months, but this time, she was unable to walk on her own. I reached out to several caregivers' services to try to secure the best home care for mom. I spoke with Markeith McCrew, who was very professional, kind, and showed sincere care for mom and our family's needs. I was very impressed with Markeith's approach to our needs. Most of the services I interviewed all charge the same price per hour, yet Markeith made the difference in our decision. We started with 12 hours a day but slowly graduated to full 24 hr care. Crystal and Salud in the office are also very professional, kind, and efficient when issues arise or scheduling changes are needed. I get a monthly schedule, so I am fully aware of who is on duty each shift. The communication is very good, and if a caregiver is unable to make a workshift, the other team members at comfort keepers strive hard to find a replacement ASAP and keep me informed of progress. The caregivers are very good, and I must praise Kiara, Katherine, Lisa, Veronica, Ayotunde, and Jasmine for their efforts as carrgiving requires special people with big hearts as well as tender compassion and experience. Markeith also has been instrumental in ensuring that the required tasks are completed on each shift and also provides training to the caregivers as needed. We have had a few care givers, but our current care giver JUAN is truly the best. My parents have been with Comfort Keepers for about 8 months now and their service has really made it possible for my sister and I to take a deep breath and enjoy our parent's presence rather than having to worry about all of their daily needs. When they first came to meet with us, they were very nice and informative and displayed genuine care for work they do. Very, very disappointed with my experience with Comfort Keepers. Wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews before even contacting them. Unfortunately, I am too familiar with homecare agencies. I had high hopes for them since they are established and have been in business for quite some time. That was my first mistake. My only contact was with Princess who rarely answered the phone, if at all. Caregivers would be trained, promise to work and then just never show up. No forewarning whatsoever. Another would be scheduled and the same thing would happen...repeatedly. The final straw was being charged for a shift that I had attempted to cancel far in advance. No one answered the phone so I could not speak to anyone to cancel. No machine/voicemail for a message either. Of course they took the money automatically off the card and refused to return it. Very poor business practices. I do not reccommend them at all. There are much better agencies out there. You just have to invest the time and energy to find them. The one star is for the rare occasion when the phone was answered. And even that is being generous. read more

When Princess was there all was great and now you don't get any call back, e mail or text and they sent someone to our home on the wrong day, and time. Crazy. Comfort Keepers Home Care, Torrence, CA has been a Godsend. After over 2 1/2 weeks in the hospital waiting for a bed to open at a rehab facility, post surgery, with nothing materializing, while growing weaker each day with no physical therapy, our family decided to bring our loved one back to her home and try Comfort Keepers. From the beginning, all the staff, from the administrative to the caregivers, have been nothing but kind, empathetic, responsive, and professional. They provided 24/7 care in the home, attending to the patient, and working with the family, as well as the outside occupational and physical therapists to assist in returning the patient to mobility and recovery. Should of seen it from the start. First appointment I sat down with my mom and dad and a representative from this company and I made it very apparent that we needed someone that would take my mom for walks and keep her engaged in activities. The next week the caregiver came and first off wasn't the one I was told would be coming, and when I tried to contact the representative she didn't get back to me for over a week. I met the caregiver and sat with mom and her for an hour and right away could tell the girl had no confidence in what she was doing. She sat quietly for most of the time. We tried to give her and the company a chance but the caregivers personality and attitude didn't change. She didn't initiate anything with my mom and showed up on days not scheduled so my dad didn't have mom ready, so he would have to take mom up stairs and the caregiver would sit on the couch for 20 minutes and then the company charged extra $5 for my dad coming back 3-5 min late in the afternoons. They don't listen from the start and not sure what their criteria is when hiring caregivers. If you are reading this please look into better places for your love ones care. read more

Called Comfort Keepers to arrange in home care giving services for my 86 yr old father. I spoke with Karen and met with her the following day. During our meeting there were several concerns. Probably the most disturbing was the fact that she manages the Lomita office on her own and also manages over 50 care givers. That's alot of problems to solve! The meeting ended with an agreement that she would identify a care giver and call the following day to arrange a meeting. No call, no nothing. What a waste of our time. Needless to say we didn't call back. I'd stay away from this place. read more

STAY AWAY FROM COMFORT KEEPERS IN LOMITA!!!! This agency is the worst! Two of their caregivers stole from me, which I didn't report because they knew where I lived and I was afraid they could come back and hurt me (that's the type of women they were). Another caregiver showed up drunk. As for the office billing, I was overcharged on MANY occasions, over $100 in a month. I would call and tell the office this, they would correct my bill, and then overcharge me again the next month. DO NOT USE THIS AGENCY!!!! read more

My dad suffered from the worst kind of dementia. He would "flip" and in that time he would be agitated and combative. He would not remember what he did during the episodes. I was in need of male caregivers to come to my parents home. Comfort Keepers was able to find caregivers that were willing to take care of my dad. My mom was not accepting of the caregivers in their home but it was a matter of safety for her and my dad. Finally the behavior got much worse and we had to send my dad to the hospital. The caregivers were able to go and help my dad during the visiting hours. Then my dad was needing rehab and the only local place that would accept him was Los Palos Convalescence and Nursing Home. My dad's behavior was quite a handful for the staff at Los Palos and they asked me to get my dad one on one caregivers. Comfort Keepers was able to get a crew of caregivers to take care of my dad. The staff at Comfort Keepers addressed the issue quickly. Richard, one of the owners even came out to take care of my dad when one of the caregivers got a flat tire driving to their home. I truly respect the owners, managers, staff and caregivers from Comfort Keepers. read more

Without a doubt, the WORST caregiving agency I have dealt with. They don't even deserve one star. They don't monitor their caregivers at all. Didn't seem concerned with the fact that the police called me to tell me my mother was missing (because the caregiver was taking a "lazy day" as she put it...on the couch...and not watching my mother.) Wasn't concerned with the fact the caregiver had moved her 26 year old son into the house and would leave my mother with her son so she could perform with her band. I could go on and on. Very disturbing that they are in business. Please think twice before you subject your loved one to this service. We were given a list from our provider and this was one of the first ones we called due to proximity. The first time we were sent someone who kept telling us she normally doesn't do this work and it was demeaning. The second one never showed up because they never get the messages straight and no one called us so my parents were left high and dry. The third one was very inbalanced emotionally and I was so concerned I had to stay the whole time. We moved on to another on the list and we were very happy with them. Comfort Keepers has been so reliable and they matched the caregiver according to her skills and my mom's personality. She has been awesome and my mom has become very attached to her. We worked with comfort keepers for several years as my dad's health declined. There were ups and downs, as there always are with these situations, but the ups far outnumbered the downs. We had 24 hour care, with 3 caregivers each day. CK worked to keep the caregivers the same, which was wonderful. And among the caregivers we had some absolute gems, people who became like one of the family and who clearly cared and went far and above what the job requires. We will never forget their depth of caring and quality of interaction with my dad. We did also have a few clunkers, but more importantly, every time there was a problem, when we contacted CK, they acted immediately to solve the problem and make it right. Once, when the company car conked out, the owner Richard even came in his own car to take us home. Life will give you ups and downs, but we could relax knowing that CK would do all that was possible to make things right and keep my dad safe and well cared-for. read more
