This is a long overdue review for our wonderful caregiver Helen. Helen has been with our family since the beginning of 2024. There are not enough words to describe how special she is and how much she has done for my parents, and our family. Helen has a pure heart, and has cared for my parents with so much warmth, respect and genuine love. She is always pleasant and never in a bad mood, despite anything else happening in her world. She brings a brightness and lightness into our lives whenever she is with us, but also has depth of feeling, understanding and intelligence. Her observations and insights have been invaluable in my parents' medical care, physical therapy, and general well-being. She has accompanied my parents to medical and physical therapy appointments, and spent days with them during hospitalizations. She has learned to cook Indian food! And my parents' favorite dishes. Before my Dad passed away, I told him Helen was coming to see him in the hospital. He responded "Helen is so good." I've been getting service from Home Instead for almost 10 years and have had several very good employees do my laundry, dust and vacuum. but none can come close to Sara. I once asked her what tasks she can do and her reply was, "Anything to make your life easier." I was floored! And she has more than proven that to be true over the two years she's been helping me. My house is old and has many issues. Sara has helped organize and fix nearly everything using her many talents. She's cooked meals for me and driven me to do errands. When we ran out of projects, she brought a card game that we play when all the regular tasks are done. She also is knowledgeable in a variety of topics which makes it easy to just talk about stuff. But wait, there's more. The office staff is very responsive and helps with any big (not many) or small problem. Very easy to deal with. read more

I have had a wonderful experience with Home Instead caregiver Katina S. She took care of both my parents for over a year. My Stepmom has Alzheimers Dementia and my father has Parkinson's Dementia. Katina was so patient with them. She cooked three meals five days a week, as well as medication reminders, light house keeping, grocery shopping, laundry, and companionship. Katina was such a suport system for me. I was overwhelmed and feeling emotionally broken before Katina came as a caregiver. I'll save you some trouble researching because I researched dozens of companies before selecting Home Instead Senior Care for a short-term senior caregiver over a few days! They made it easy, and affordable and the caregiver was the best. Here is what prompted me to choose them. They were easy to work with and listened to my concerns but I did not have to spend a lot of time on the phone to get a perfect person for my 90-year-old grandmother! PRICE -Great pricing and affordable with 4 hour minimums. Yay! CAREGIVER- -Professional, uniformed, and super-friendly caregiver. - We fell in love with our caregiver Nasera! -She was kind to my 90-year-old grandmother and treated her like a member of the member. -Kept grandma engaged and gave great care as well as companionship ADMINISTRATIVE -Key Relationship Managers Ilona and Sandra answered my questions and made sure that the care was tailored to me. -No pushy salespeople, Just kind people that want to help you with your caregiving goal. -They were so patient and kind. -Eeasy peasy paperwork. I want to give a shout out to Employee Clarence G. This stellar young man came into our home once a week for several hours to take care of my 83 year old husband who has dementia and can not be left alone. Not many caregivers have the experience or inclination to care for someone with dementia, it requires a particular skill set. With his kind, sunny smile, communication skills and his gentle ways, Clarence made a real connection with my husband. He's a self starter... washing dishes while I'm out, making sure sandwiches get made etc. I couldn't have been happier with his service. Recently my spouse was put into Memory Care and I no longer need his services but I highly recommend Clarence. My only complaint is that he is very popular with few available openings and so I couldn't book him as much as I would have liked! Tell him Thanks Again from us. read more

You can tell a lot about a company by the employees they hire and keep. I have worked with numerous caregiving agencies over the years and Home Instead is definitely an agency that I would NOT recommend. We retained their services to assist in caring for my mother who is physically challenged. Of all of the caregivers who came (and there were plenty), only one stood out as good. I say good because she actually could do and did the job, was polite, pleasant and timely. All of the others either never showed up most days, played on their phones during their shift or were physically unable to do the job. My parents' home became a revolving door of poorly hired individuals who were not well managed or, in short, just did not care. This has been one of the most disappointing and overpriced experiences of my life. We elected to go with a well-known franchise because we BELIEVED there would be some level of security in knowing they would do their due diligence in the hiring process. We attempted to use some private caregivers before turning to an agency but they had the same attitude and lack of work ethic. They would come, interview, say they would be there on their assigned start date and never show. The caregivers from Home Instead have shown to be of the same caliber but with a higher price tag. Time to move on and, hopefully, find an agency that actually delivers what they promise other than a biweekly bill for services NOT rendered. read more

I have been very happy with Home Instead Senior Care and our caregiver Diana. I have tried a couple of other care companies in the Southbay and this one is by far the best. I feel like I have a partner in managing the care for my mom which is so valuable when trying to find help for my mom. All the employees really care and do all they can to be a shining light at this time of a senior's life. Even though I never hired this company I want to leave a review of my experience with them. The different women I spoke to were very nice and I wanted to hire them but they wouldn't return my calls. Three times I called and left messages but my calls were not returned until I called them back. The third time I called I left a message and said I was ready to hire them and sign the contract but once again, no call back. I then decided that they were not the company I was looking for. How could I trust them to care for my mother if they couldn't even return a simple phone call. read more

Our family worked with Home Instead for over 4 years, starting when our mother began to develop Alzheimers, all the way through the end of her life. I have to say, Home Instead was fantastic to work with at every step of the way. We had a number of caregivers over the years, and they were consistently helpful, professional, and caring. Our mother required lots of different care, starting with simple short visits, light cooking, and driving to errands, and progressed all the way to intense 24/7 care where she needed to be fed and bathed. And in all phases, the caregivers were all well-trained, they knew what to do, and they went out of their way to solve any issues with our mother. They really took their work seriously, and proactively looked for ways to help make our mother more comfortable. The Home Instead front office was also always great. They communicated with us every time there was an issue or problem to deal with, they were really responsive to our questions and requests, they had suggestions whenever we had problems, and were just kind to talk to. It was a long hard road for our mom the last few years because of her disease, but Home Instead Torrance helped make her happy - I always felt like our mom was in good hands. read more

I am so impressed with the professional and loving staff of this company. We had the LOVELIEST woman, Bea, come to the house for light cleaning and she was all heart and soul and it was a true joy to be around her. My mother is quite difficult and she went above and beyond what even I personally would have as a daughter and I am pretty nice! And I love my mother! On top of that, when my mother had complaints that stemmed simply from her own confusion, she was taken very seriously and real unhurried time was spent taking care of her. Our family has employed Home Instead since October of 2012, when Mom's Alzheimer called for a daily caregiver. We found the staff at Home Instead to be understanding, helpful, and accommodating with Mom's needs. The communication with family is prompt. Matching the caregiver to Mom's personality was one of the many factors that the staff worked on diligently. I moved my dad to California from Pennsylvania when his memory issues worsened. Yvonne from Home Instead visited with my dad everyday for 3 hrs while I was at work, 3 hrs that he really looked forward to. I can not say enough great things about Yvonne, it was quite apparent that she had genuine affection for my father and I am convinced that she was his best friend. They went on adventures like picnics in Malibu and beach walks in Redondo and my dad enjoyed them immensely.
