Yes it's a business but not once was I made to feel like just a payment. They provided care for my mother when I wasn't able to. It's difficult to not be able to do things myself. But the level of respect they gave me along with piece of mind was priceless. Marian, the owner welcomed my mother and I personally. That's almost unheard of having an owner take care of things. They are friendly until you ask questions. about there contract. Had our contract attorney read the contract copy provided as all should do before signing a contract. I called to ask some questions about the wording and Marion became irate and very hostile and refused to answer any questions. She said " I'm not going to change the contract". The contract liability section is very vague (to the companies benefit) and mostly states the clients insurance is the primary(not the companies) when it comes to theft of items in the home, car accidents(their driver) and other insurance related damages. When I asked Marion about this her response was "We are insured and bonded and we cover everything". However, she would not tell or show me where within the contract where it states that. "I'm too busy, we have a waiting list" was her answer. We were happy with talking with them over the phone and the in person interview. It all when bad once we had questions about the contract. Too bad because with a few adjustments(recommended by our attorney) we were ready to sign up with them. read more

Marian and Visiting Angels have been so wonderful to my aging Dad!! I don't know what I would do without Marian! I called Visiting Angels, at the last minute, needing a caregiver, and Marian went above and beyond for my dad and me! She had an amazing way of pairing a wonderful care giver with my dad. My dad really bonded with his caregiver and called him a friend. It was the sweetest! As a nurse, I understand how hard it is to care for people everyday, especially in these situations! Marian is so compassionate and has the biggest heart. She cares more than anyone I know in this industry!! She never stops working to keep her clients safe and cared for. She's an amazing advocate for her clients and her caregivers!! I see these terrible reviews and I KNOW that there are always two sides to every story! My husband and I would give zero stars but as it is not an option, Merian (owner) is being gifted one star. This is not the company to care for your loved ones. We made it very clear from the beginning we wanted CONSISTENT care with one caregiver all week and one caregiver on the weekend. This was promised on the day the contract was signed. By the second week, on Monday while we were leaving for work a total stranger showed up at our door at 9:00 am unannounced and never previously introduced. We had no warning, no one called or said a word. When we called the office, it was obviously one hand had no idea what the other was doing. They acted like they didn't know what was going on and that obviously some mistake had been made. I had to miss a day from work, cancelling all my appointments to stay home and care for my mom. We also had a 4-day trip planned where we needed overnight care which was communicated to the owner Merian in plenty of time, almost 3 weeks prior to our departure. Merian put together a schedule which provided 8 different caregivers to watch my mom in our absence. When confronted Merian acted as if she saw nothing wrong with 8 different caretakers parading through our home, none of which we nor my mom (who has dementia) had met or knew anything about. When we expressed our concern over 8 caregivers over 5 days for a patient with dementia (Change causing confusion...) she became irate, screaming at me on the phone and ORDERING me that I need to answer the phone when she calls. She persisted with her rant, screaming about how hard she worked "this week" to even find anyone on such short notice when in fact she, in her own handwriting noted it on the initial contract 3-weeks prior. I told her we gave her 3 weeks' time and she yelled at me, "I don't care if you did, if you don't like it you can leave." She has yelled, berated and screamed at us 3 times in 3 weeks. She is unstable, incredibly unprofessional, and only cares about her money. Period. She will give you her song and dance that she has the best caregivers that she treats so well; 401k, health insurance, on and on. That was important to us. I spoke with ALL of the caregivers that came to our home and they said they do not get 401K, they do not get health insurance and they too must put up with her irate behavior whenever she flies off the handle. They also informed us they had not been with her "years" but only a month or two unlike the picture Merian sold us on. At a minimum of 35.00 an hour there are SO MANY other choices out there!!. Do not trust this company, they do not care at all about the care of your loved one but the money coming in. When I finally told Merian I would not allow her to talk to me in such an ugly way she, yep,.. got even more irate! Screaming, she told me our relationship was over, hung up and called our caregiver and asked her to immediately leave our house. No concern whatsoever that she would be leaving my mom at home alone. We have 2 of her rants recorded and I only wish there was an option to post that so you can hear her behavior. This is the first negative review I have ever left, I make it a point to celebrate companies and services that do a great job and work hard and honestly. I only hope this will help you pass this company by and look for someone else or you will find yourself, very quickly, writing the same review I just have. I was not prepared when my aging father had serious health conditions and could not care for himself. On July 3rd my father was in the hospital due to falling and other related issues. I live 150 miles away and we have no one in the Torrance area to care for my previously independence parents. My aging mother, although frail, could take of herself but, couldn't drive and could not not care for him. My father could not stand up without help or walk unassisted. What do you do in this case?
