The staff also left us a goodie bag in our room with a personalized note as I'm Gold Status. Cleanliness - everything we saw was clean and orderly. It looked relatively new and well take care of. Showers - water pressure was good and it was HOT!!! Almost too hot to start with. The negatives: Construction - this isn't anything the hotel can help but it was a mess trying to get in there and find it because of construction. Bed quality - this was the biggest drawback for my wife and I. The bed was FIRM... like sleeping on a rock firm. We like a softer bed and this one caused some problems sleeping. If you like a firm mattress this may be perfect for you. The neutral items: Breakfast - we left too early to get breakfast so we didn't have a chance to try it. Overall, I would give them another try to see if all the beds were as firm and since there were so many positives.

The AC was not cool enough, the bed was reasonably comfortable, the bedding was clean. The breakfast area was also under renovation. They did provide a free meal, but I bypassed it. Frankly it looked awful. The coffee was poor. I would not return renovation or not.

The hotel itself was fine. Our room was pretty clean, although there were a few hairs right outside the shower that definitely weren't ours since we didn't use the shower. The pillows weren't very comfortable, but the bed was fine. I did like that there wasn't a huge comforter, just lots of sheets, which gave me hope they washed all bedding after each visitor. Added bonus was the indoor pool that was open until 11! Great way to get some energy out for my little guy after a long car ride. I would definitely stay here again. Great for a quick overnight trip.

It had been cleaned so that was an improvement. Sadly though the shower head I discovered was broken & I had to stand up against the wall to take a shower the next major issue I had was the bed. I spent about an hour in the bed before I literally couldn't take it anymore and ended up sleeping the entire night in the chair. The bed was like cement and my back just couldn't take it. I also stayed at the Hilton Cincinnati this trip and just looked at my bills and the Hilton was cheaper than this Home2 Suites. The check in staff were very nice and we checked in without issue. I was disappointed I was not recognized as a Diamond Member and offered any perks. Room was pretty clean. I thought it was weird the refrigerator door opened the wrong way. I was looking forward to a little breakfast to start the day, but both days was disappointed. Waffles seemed to be the only hot item kept in stock. The bread drawers were mostly empty and the warmer box did not have much in it. I grabbed a breakfast sandwich from the boix and it was very dry because staff let the water run out. No yogurt available. The second day I grabbed a wrapped sandwich from the warming box thinking it would be better. The egg and sausage were near frozen. This is supposed to be a smoke free hotel. An added bonus was the smell of marijuana throughout the halls. I invite Hilton leadership to pay a surprise visit and fix the problems here.

Has in room mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave. Nice LED lights in the room including indirect light behind the television. Nice lobby, large breakfast area that has some outdoor seating. The Quality Inn in Richmond is another story. Do not go there and I'll write a review for them. The Golden Inn is a great place to stay, reasonable and good location.

My daughter and I stayed in the first floor room that was the home's original dining room, and it was so pretty with lovely wood paneling around the doors and ceiling, a beautiful large tiffany window, and perfectly chosen furnishings. I was able to see several of the upstairs rooms as well and they too were very nice. The breakfast was delicious with the best orange juice I've had in years. If we should ever make our way back to Indiana, we'll definitely stay here again. One additional note: the town of Richmond IN is FULL of gorgeous old Victorian houses that could be refurbished into veritable palaces, much like the Smith B&B. There are also charming cottages from the early 1900s. In a way, it reminds me of Savannah GA in that there are so many lovely historic properties. If historic preservation/renovation is your thing, (and you're lucky enough to be retired or to telework full time), you should definitely check it out.
